they use the term "cabbage" because it's "cheap and readily available". women from a country are being compared to produce in a grocery store.

you may not use this term. people you know may not use this term. and that's very nice to know. but the term exists.

I am curious actually, how was it received? Has any non-Chinese people seen it and what did they think about it?

"Tian Long Ba Bu" for me, it's the milestone mark of Chinese film making. It's changes my view completely on Chinese's film making. "Shen Diao Xia Lu" though have better character/directing, "Tian Long Ba Bu" feels more like a classic compare to it ^_^
