BJJ has submissions so of course it will win, wrestling is more like the transitional stage like judo is. You can compare Judo to wrestling and of course wrestling is superior.

The reason all of the top MMA fighters in the world isn't just because they are wrestlers is because being a wrestler, they have a certain dedication and a drive that no BJJ black belt or judoka will ever have. Wrestlers in high school are sometimes more dedicated than these guys. (don't say I don't know I'm a purple belt in BJJ)

Dude I have a lot of respect for free-style wrestling but don't underestimate submission wrestling(BJJ/shoot wrestling/catch wrestling). Check out Royce Gracie choking out Dan Severn with a leg triangle. Royce looks like a tooth pick compared to Dan. Today you can't compete in grappling tournaments without being good both at BJJ and wrestling anyway.

I also think wrestling's the best because you can dictate if the fight stays on the feet(sprawl) or if the fight go's to the ground(take downs). This is because you can take a good striker, or jiu jitsu guy down, and hold him there, so you can get mount, reverse him, and eventually ground and pound him once you have mount or a dominate position.

Horrible technique, though I was never a freestyle wrestler at all (10 years through HS and college in collegiate style). I remember seeing this match years ago, and not being impressed with Tom Brands' technique, but the ugly ones are only truly ugly if you get one in the L column. And on a side note, Tom's shoes...I hated the pair of shoes I had that had those big tongues, always tripped me up for some reason, so I got extra long laces and wrapped them around my ankles, worked like a charm.

college wrestlers wrestle folk style which is much different because your points accumulate over the three periods while in freestyle, you must win two periods (or by pin) to win the match. Also you get two points for rolling the guy across his back and a point for making him step out of bounds which is not the case in folk style.
