  • Oh by the way there is a psx swap disc which is very unpopular but one does exist. I had one as a kid and i know a site that sells them.

  • I'd rather drop the couple of bucks on a damn ps1 game or if the game is really rare use an emulator.

  • Where do I download games now :S

  • @metalthedan emuparadise.me

  • thanks

  • mine is not even spinning :(

  • I have no reason to burn them either but u don't find these games anymore!

  • That looks easy! I'll try it when my ps1 arrives in the mail.

  • I am so gonna try this with my little old one. :)

  • WHY DID HE HAVE TO DO THAT A 3RD AND FOURTH TIME WOULDNT THE 2ND SWITCH BE ENOUGHH??????????

  • Will this work on a PAL Playstation??

  • @chrisfunnyjumps So if your burnt disc had the files to boot the game would it just start without having to do the swap trick??

  • @OysterBoy91 no, the boot files are all playstation discs, backup or original. the reason you have to switch out discs like this is because the original games has "bad sectors" in the code that the playstation looks for, and a burned disc cannot have these bad sectors. if you need more information, google is your friend.

  • @thenewcomer318 ok whatever PS1 games are fairly cheap anyway so I have no reason to burn them.

  • i bought a playstaion at valluie village for 10 bucks and what are the chances that it had a mod chip already installed in it

  • Great vid showing both the swapping and the screen at the same time. Props

  • hallo, it worked!

  • Thats fucking retarded! Seriously, if you have the original disk, just play it, why fuck your disk up in the process, you accomplished nothing but swapping out a disk you have with a disc you burnt, it wont work without the original to do the trick so WTF? do something usefull dumbass

  • @staxjp he was just making a video showing you how to do it the official ps1 game and the back up don't have to be the same game so you can load a downloaded copy of one game with any psx game even a demo disk

  • When Do The swap in 0:34 the disc will spin wrong direction, can someone please tell me why*?

  • didnt work

  • I just did that, and even if my PS1 messes up i still have a PS2 (not gonna do this trick with the slim one ha)

  • how can u switch to the 2nd disc in games like MGS?

  • @Kteeep I downloaded MGS today because of this trick and i used to have the awesome game... Was wondering the exact same thing.

  • @Kteeep I just did it. Works fine switching discs. You have to take disc 1 out when it says replace it with another random game like when you first swap disc. Press the eject button (even if you jammed it, its just to tell the PS1 you've changed discs), press start to tell it you put the right disc in. Then when it makes a sound to say changing speed put in Disc 2 of MGS :D I know this works as i just did it myself :) Hope this helps you.

  • @HaiiTommRoxx yeah thank you, i figured it out by myself after hours of trying ;)

just eject, put in original, open-close switch, start, swap discs

    so easy xD

  • thanks for this vid! i must have tried it a hundred times and didnt know which screen to change discs in all the guides, the vid helped alot looking at the screeen before i was changing at piracy harms bit!

  • You could also use a gameshark if you have one.

  • that shit must fuck ur ps1 and btw the sound on the entrance of ps1 is the sound of heaven

  • my playstation its brok with your fucking tricks mother fucker

  • @fnikolla You decided to do this not him. He was just showing you how and you suck at it so you broke your console. Congratulations retard!

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer you mother fucker you sshole mother fucker dont ofend me cuz i will fuck your famyli like kamekazi i swaer you dont know me mother fucker

  • @fnikolla Ha ha ha!!! Wow! Ok learn how to spell and a whole bunch of other shit. Then take your pills. Lol!

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer you suck mother fucker tell me your adres i will come i swear if you are real big man

  • @fnikolla Lol! Oh sure! I'm gonna give my address to a mental stranger on the internet who probably just got out of jail for bangin a 4 year old in the ass with a knife. Ok hold on one second you got a pen and paper. Lol!!!! Give me your address.

  • @TheUnbiasedGamer i live in wells of britania mother fucker come her

  • @fnikolla That's not an address and I'm not traveling a billion miles to a rich neighborhood to fight spoiled little child from the internet for 5 minutes! Lol!

  • @Spigs0964 ya it actually isnt the laser, its the disc spindle my bad, im sorry that when i was 7 years old i couldnt tell if it was the disc spindle or the laser. Clearly somebody like you who still uses his psone and have been studying the art of playstation these last 9 years be able to safely do the swap trick than saving the hassle and paying 5 dollars to risk fucking it up. the main thing here is that swapping can usually fuck up the psone.

  • Arrrghhh none of the music playing in my games when I swap them, anyone no a fix or why it happens?

  • Thanks allot for this man, very cool video. Just got mine to work, found a boxed PS1 on a car boot for a fiver and now I can play back-ups.

  • and by the way this does screw up your laser, before i traded my cousin with his modded ps1, i had about two ps1's break on me, it really fucks it up, just mod it lol,

  • This video is about 12 years late.

  • hey man im swapping it at exact timeu r and at the last swap the burnt disk keeps spinning in the ps1 but the tv screen is just black.

    am i doin sumthin wrong?

  • every time i do it on my psone i fail, i dunno the time i have to swap the disc, please help me!

  • who witching Indiana johns

  • very nice. gonna test it out with valkyrie profile so i can sell it without too much guilt.

  • Thanks man, best tut about swap trick. Though, I've got games in black and white colors. I think that's because my psx is PAL and the games might be NTSC. Am I right?

  • yes, you're right, use import light player to change region

  • @ivanelmasterzx

Thank you mate. Although not every game works.

  • kof 99 didn't work, you're right not everygame work

  • Really liked this video, was a lot better than others for observing the swap. Got it to work on a PSX SCPH5552. Took two swaps, and the point you need to hold down is towards the rear of the CD bay, a small circle at the right that you need to stick down. Used bluetack here, works a charm.

  • @Gazarethster hey uh. thanks for the blue tack tip, my finger couldn't last any longer ahaha =D

  • I can't get this to work, i have a NTSC SCPH-7501 Gray PS1

  • few tips... best to superglue the sensor down

btw im doin this on ps2 and was wondering if it matters what region the burnt game is from (i dl'ed a ntsc game and trying on a pal ps2)

  • nice video :) ...for burning ps1 games whats the best way to do so? so i cant use dvd r? cause thats all i have atm xD

  • you need some type of img file, like an .iso or a .bin, and you need to use a cd-r; that's the only thing psones will read. if you can, burn the game at 4x so it doesn't freeze or become skippy during gameplay. if there isn't a 4x, just use the lowest one and hope it works. i use alcohol 120% and nero for all my games.

  • hey thanks for the quick reply :) ok i'll keep all that in mind, cheers ;]

  • Mine works with one swap. :)

  • Thanks much!

It may be first, but its best too!

I tryed few another tuts before, but this telled much more. Without screen back there, i would not play pirate games now :)

  • I used to do this way back in the day, its amazing

  • the best game to use for copies or backups is an original tekken 3, it works wonders for my backups

  • fuck me i got the proper version of abes evoddus

  • lol, can you dammage ps drive engine doing that? :D

  • I'm playing a burned version of Abe's EXODDUS, it's a 2 disk game.

I can swap easily enough to get the game started on the first disk, but what do I do when I get to the part where it says "Please put in Disk 2"? I tried putting it in directly but I imagine you have to do another swap trick? Please help!

  • I just use Epsxe exchange or w.e basically a mod chip on a disc all u do is load the cd then take the cd out put in ur backup press start and it loads passes the whole boot secotr

  • the first time i swap i lesten to the song then second i listen to the disk slowing down

  • there are 3 methods to do this trick.

between the time 54and 57 secs the ps has a hard time struggling reading the cd by the sound of the chirp. the motor sounded like it was going out soon. i know the video is old but i was walkin around swapmeet and i happen to buy a system for 5 bucks. thought id check it out on here about these swap methods.

brought back a buttload of memories. seemed a little rough on the hands there. gotta be a little more gentle so the spindle and motor doesnt break

  • When I put the original disk in for the second time (when the playstation logo is on the screen), it spins slowly and the ps logo doesn't disappear. I put it in after the burned disk stops spinning fast. What do I do?

  • worked thanks

  • this is the older psx what to do if we have the newer one?

  • Fail idiot. PSX is huge box. Not like this...

    images.google. fi / images?client=opera&rls=fi&q=psx&sourceid=opera&oe=utf-8&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=fi&tab=wi

  • when i put the burned disk in it doesent slow down. and i tried using other methodes witch are simmilar and the logo never fades away so wtf do i do?

  • I've done this, but I instantly shut it off because the sound of the laser moving scares me! P.S. and it never works!

  • just have to say this . hearing the ps1 start up brought back loads of fun times

  • Thanks, this trick works for me!

  • can you close the lid once the burned game starts to play? isn't it kind of annoying to look at when it's open like that.. what if something flies into it lol

  • Will this work on multi-disc games? Thinking about trying it with Chrono Cross.

  • Why wouldn't it? At least with FF's, on disc changes you can save. And you save and then boot the next disc on same method.

  • Thank you MrMasked, day before yesterday I was looking at a whole bunch of these disc swap tutorials, your's being one of them, which helped me understand how to do this. All those years I went being unable to play my Japanese games, so I thought, but now I can.

  • do u have to have the original version of the game u burned or just any original playstation one game?

  • Just an original one :).

  • thanks, but it still hasn't worked for me. i got the game through a friend, but thanks for trying. lol.

  • Well, you should still try!

I figured out that he explained almost everything correct, only that You must not swap the disc before the screen fades out. Instead, you gotta look at the disc, and when it accellerate, you swap it. Then the screen will fade out as normal, and you can play your game.

I think I'll post a guide myself, explaining this in more detail ;).

This is a nice vid though! Helped me out a bit :).

  • i did and i still couldn't get it right, but haha i got the game so im good. lol, but thatnks for encouragement, hahah, jk. i will use ur tutorial in the future if i ever need help again. lol. thanks.

  • can someone tell me whats the purpose?

  • Thank you so much for this video!

I have been trying to do it a million times with other methods, scrapping so many burned cds. Your method worked perfectly and proved I wasn't making a mistake in the burning process. Favorite for life.

  • Comment removed

  • will this work with japanese games or something?

  • nope

  • I dunno 'bout the original Playstation model, but I have a PSone and the disc swap does work for Japanese games.

  • LOL!!! good one! sure had a laugh there! them sony arent too smart! i wonder how some1 found this out! XD

  • All I got when I did this is a green line on the bottom of a black screen. Somebody please help!

  • Wow. Doesn't the game get scratched up bad though?

  • Not if you do it right =)

  • Does anyone know how to burn the .ISO file you download? I'm not sure if you just burn the .ISO or the contents inside it? I've tried to google it, but I'm not getting the answers I need.

  • Burn the ISO using IMGBurn. (Google it)

  • Yeah, I did it right, I just didn't do the swapping right the first time. :) But thanks.

  • lol i tired this few times and failed then memorized that i got modchip :O

  • so whats the use of it ? you got the original game and the copy of it, and you swap it several times to play the copy did i get that right ? or can you swap any copy and the system doesnt recognize it ?

  • lmao i remember doing this trick back in the day, ah man that was golden XD good looks on this though aha can't believe so many people never heard of this

  • Ah nevermind.. I just had to try a couple of times :)

  • Hmm, After a white text appears that says: "Created by north-America bla bla bla", and then fades out, the whole thing stops. Could it be that my cd is too scratched?

And yes, that means I burned the image-file correctly.

  • no,it only has to be bigger in file size than the burned one, otherwise, there would be no point in burning a new disk

  • Hey I was wondering (I never did this before), does the original have to be the same game as the copied one?

  • Of course not.

  • You saved me man! 3 days no sleep and not one tutorial worked until yours thanks :)

  • one time i messed up the swap trick and put the disc that i burned in upside down lol

  • LOL :)

  • Or buy a $5 modchip.

  • @numberninteynine Where?

  • @DJPeck1 here:

    eurasia.nu

  • Thank you Thank you ! worked after a few times !!!!

  • that swap sound... OMFG!

  • I used to do this in 1999.

  • OH MY GOD!!!!

i love you..... i been trying this method for years! and never had it work... seriously like 4 5 yrs and finaly you show me the way!

no one really explain the timings before and show many other ways but this is spot on..

by the way... this time i used resident evil 2 leon disc for the first time trying this.. because i thought that was the disc you used in this video..

  • yo this shit is dope as hell thanks for this its easy to do too i did this shit my first try

  • do you know who your talkin to this is Jay Martinellis keep talkin shit and i'll send a few of my hoes to come and jux ya

  • How do u get to spin without closing it?

  • Read the details. If you tape the open/close lid sensor down (on the upper right side), you can fool the system into thinking that it's closed, which will make the system continue doing what it normally does.

  • try it

  • can you tell if i do this trick alot my ps1 wont get recked

  • It won't just avoid touching the laser.

  • Hypothetically -

If I have an original game disc that more or less works but has scratches that make it unplayable, do I have to do the above procedure with a burned disc? Or can I just swap the discs in the middle of the game to the burned disc and have it work? My PS1 is unmodded. Thanks!

  • I did it once but now it does not work anymore HELP

  • i got it to work like 5 times and now it doesnt work for me either LOL

  • I use the Gameshark Trick. Much Easer than the Disk Swap. What you do is Tape down the Disk Door Button. Then Put in Gameshark wait for it to load 100% then whare it says Start Game Optons Ect. Put in your Burnt Game. Click on Start game i click on Without Cheats. Then hit the X button then it Should work. Much Easer.

  • Thanks man but i wish i had a gameshark to begin with LMAO

  • Im about to buy a gameshark for the playstation Does this method work more better then the swap disc method? & does this gameshark trick work 100 % of the time? Thanks

  • Dont know what version to get i have Version 4 dont know the difference but it works extremely well.

  • the one im Getting is the 4.0 version

  • Thx man your the Best

  • does this work o ps2 games?

  • cann n e 1 help me

i do this right al the time

but on the last step whe the screen turns black

    it stays black

    any tips? =/

  • dude you're so awesome i got it first time i couldn't play my game cos it was from a different region but TADA now i can thanks so much ^_^

  • i cant get my ps2 trap open. what do i need to open it?

  • GEC this doesnt works, ive tried it for about 50 times and it wont work, i reader drop my PSone out of the window. :(

  • You gotta have skills, gotta be swift like a ninja

  • Sorry, i forgot to born in Japan, meybe next time.

  • OMG THIS WORKS! THANK YOU SO MUCH!

  • does the original game have to match the homebrew?

  • Nope

  • This is the BIG Playstation 1 and nod the small!!!!

  • I would not say BIG.. but maybe the original the small version is for losers imo:P

  • wont that just damage your disks by smashing them into the playstation like that?

  • nah

  • just a quick question, do you have to use the same game that you burned a copy of to swap with?

  • Nope, any game should work!

  • alright, thanks!

  • my japanese and pal games wont work,y not???

  • this is cool! i try too ;)

  • 5/5 but why swap the discs twice i only have to swap once?

  • Older PSXes only have to swap once. In order to counter the original swap trick, Sony added an extra layer of protection on newer PSXes that requires two swaps to get past.

  • nice i just got a psx at a flea market for$2.00 with 1 game and 2 dualshock analog controlers!

so perfect time for me to run into this also dose the swap method work with pal rips?

  • I have no idea

  • good work dude , i do that too now... but .. don't slam the disks like that , u can make the swap calmly too ;)

  • I second this video, I user this method every time now. good work!

  • Hey he didnt swap the discs like four times... good and cool..

  • haha i used to do this with my ps1

but i noticed the games crashed more if they were copyied games

but it was a cool trick back in the day

  • You can also listen to the BIOS audio for a cue as to when to replace the disk the first time. As the sound changes to that bell tree noise, listen for a "feedback" kind of noise. Right then, switch it.
