  • A Forest...

  • FRIGHTENING...I CAN'T ADD ANYTHING. NEW ORDER = LIFE

  • lol.... sounds good, but the vocals are SHITTY

  • @GN0MEz DONT HATE BERNARD SUMNER

  • @scbwrhcp too late

  • @GN0MEz maybe you were expecting it to sound like Michael Bolton?

  • Sounds Like The Cure

  • GREAT SONG in 1985 and still now in 2011 !!! One of my firtst records ever bought. MEMORIES !

  • thanks ..takes me back .. i think they r better than i thought at the time . the poms kick hard.

  • The myth of Joy Division should be put to bed. New Order retained JD's diy punk ethos with a far more encompassing musicality. I've no doubt that even Ian would agree to this. It's obviously subjective, but to suggest New Order doesn't measure up to JD's legacy is a little tenuous.

  • Joy Division were The Cure's reigning influence. Robert Smith's guitar tone is firmly cemented in Peter Hook's chorus driven bass sound-above all else. One can only play so many notes and chords, and the two bands did work within the same post-punk/new-wave genres. It's inevitable that certain songs sound similar, but make no mistake-The Cure would be unrecognizable without these guys.

  • Any chance of uploading the instrumental version of this MONSTER!!!

  • MUSIC HISTORY...NOTHING TO ADD

  • Definitely The Cure's A Forest in the intro.

  • @sadeyedlady9 @MrAlphabet1 Really? I love The Cure but I find it hilarious to see some zealots so obsessed that could find The Cure even in a cow's fart.

  • @sadeyedlady9 Haha yeah and Robert Smith have said already several times they are fans of New Order But you can go on touching yourself thinking R.Smith whispers in your ear retard.

  • Hooky signature bass sound...plays it like a lead guitar..legend

  • Lol,this one if it was instrumental would sound like a theme in a fighting video-game :P

    Underrated song though :/

  • violent... as possible...it could be a motorhead's song...

  • Their best album, with great songwriting, excellent recording and artistic direction, and an amazingly un-electronic sound loaded with energy. Unfortunately, they went artistically downhill from this point (no offense really, it's my personal opinion). I think the songs were written taking into account the limitations in Sumner's voice, so they're rendered really nicely, even in live performances, without the need to alter the voice with effects and filters.

  • The best band is The Sound of Adrian Borland

  • just signed up to call you a queer may301985 1

  • NEW ORDER CANNOT COMPARE TO JOY DIVISION BUT IS GOOD ENOUGH TO B IN STANDARDS WITH JD NEW ORDER IS Mind altering Bodybending Music i hear SUNRISE i wanna cry dance runaway my mind runsaway with the lyrics and music THANK U LORD FOR JD AND NEW ORDER RIP IAN Love tore me apart not im left alone lonely so many years being with no gf i grew familiar with the feeling of being alone IM AFRAID IM GONNA DIE ALONE

  • my fafourite style : du punk planant

  • see NO perform the opening riff of this on a Fac Records doc on BBC4 a few years back and thought it was a remixed version of JD's 24 hours (the openings do sound similar)

Got hold a copy of Low Life and was educated

Awesome song, but would have sound awesome with the presence of Ian Curtis performaning lead voacls (Barney does a great job though)

  • This way would probably sound Joy Division if they had survive the eighties.

  • Fucking guitar riff from hell!!! Pwn!!!!!!

  • fucking shit hot

  • I like how Elegia follow suits...... Its like this song gets u riled up, then elegia calms you down ^^

  • alway and forever.

  • I wish that everyone could appreciate the genius of New Order. Thanks for posting,

    cheers!

  • It fills me with joy how the remaining members of joy division were able to detach themselves from the past after their 1st album Movement and go on to create their very own art, their own soundscapes, their own vision. And they kicked ass. They made wonderful stuff.

  • This is one of the greatest songs ever made. I have no idea why it wasn't released as an anthem? The guitar in the end is euphoric.

  • I agree with AdamCoffin13 this album is timeless this IS New Order at their best great accoustic rips and great drumms what a band thank you New Order for your effort to make great music...........peace...

  • ...just went out and purchased the Low Life CD at Fingerprints in Long Beach tonight (I had the cassette when it first came out) and this is my favorite track. It's also one of the few tracks on Low Life to showcase guitar along with Peter Hook's amazing bass as lead instruments. I absolutely love this album and consider it one of the best from the amazing year of 1985 which also saw the debut major label release from Sisters of Mercy, and The Cult's epic Love album. What a year in music!

  • When I get really bitter about Life I listen to this song and it makes me feel better, ha.

  • I love this song, so raw - even for them. Probably Hooky's finest hour except for, perhaps, The Perfect Kiss.

  • perfect kiss the full version, heaven.

  • it sounds like the cure

    I like it!

  • @singlobito

The Cure cover NEW ORDER all people know that. The head on the door is the best sample.

The cure begin to have sucessful when they cover NEW ORDER. Ask to Peter HOOK what he think.

  • @SUMNERify yeah like this aint a rip off of the cure's "a forest". and "all the way" aint ripping off "just like heaven". lol

  • @MrAlphabet1 this song is no way a rip off af any cure song at all

  • @MrAlphabet1 being an avid Cure fan since the day they started putting records out, i can honestly say that you do not know what the fuck you are talking about.....

  • @tgnomechaser tit!

  • New order was probably the best group to come fromn another excellent group. new order can rock or make u dance.Put this on in the car at night on a motorway and drive. awesome track

  • @elusivesoundz You said it!!

  • it rocks!

  • Thanks for posting this version. One of my favorites from New Order.

  • Such an amazing song - so raw. Probably my favorite of theirs after Perfect Kiss.

  • Another New Order special..... fantastic long dramatic ending... great mix of synth and guitar.

  • This whole albums is a great combination of synths and traditional guitar sounds ... this to me is the combination of Joy Division and New order.

  • @kams1001 You couldn't have said it better....and Peter hook in my opinion, is the back bone, o0f New Order....basicly drum and bass, RULES

  • @roland06711 Yeah Hookys bass is legendary, very disctinctive, makes the New Order sound.

  • @roland06711 Cheers Roland, cant help rewinding the final part of the song, so intense.

  • Bernard gets better every album.

  • I believe I read years ago that when his voice is recorded they change it so what you are hearing isn't what you would hear if he was singing to you in person. Not sure if this is true or not. I think his voice is good. Maybe since he is pleasing on the eyes, his voice sounds better?

  • Not being able to sing in a traditional fashion goes quite well with the post-punk motif, don't you think?

I like Ian's voice, be he too could not readily sing.

  • True, but his voice suited Joy Divisions sound perfectly I'd say.

  • I truly agree with you.

  • No you have him confused with Kylie. They had to change hers when they recorded it.

  • Thanks so much for putting this on. My fave new order song. So agressive and bitter. Excellent.
