I think the exact likeness of the VF25 is not the F-14... yes it maybe based on the F-14 like the old Valkyrie's but it is more based on the Sukhoi-30 Mk2 except for the sweep wing configuration... i think the more F-14 based concept of the Valkyrie's are the VF-0s phoenix and VF-1s from Macross super fortress..

the VF-0D phoenix i think is based on the new concept fighter Russian made like SU - T 50 or the Chinese J-10A fighter

@Steelheart8280 According to the man himself, the VF-25 was a deliberate attempt to move away from the silhouettes of modern day fighters. Of course there are still similarities, but I don't think Kawamori was trying to base the thing off of any particular preexisting design.
