I'm sure the announcer heard at the Anglia clock is that of Colin Bower who went on to work for Westward Television and in 1975 opened Plymouth Sound radio with the breakfast program Sunrise Sound. Finally, parts 1 and 2 are a great presentation is there more available
The Anglia signal actually extended as far as Scarborough and Yorkshire, When YTV started up in 1968 it complained that half it's coverage area was covered by Anglian TV. Therefore, Anglia agreed to give up one of it's transmitters, i,e, Belmont and halved its coverage area to placate YTV.
I loved the Knight too and the music (the arrangement, by Sir Malcolm Sargent, of Handel's Water Music). When I heard the piece "proper" I was so disappointed as I love the Anglia version. I wrote to them a few years ago about the music and they talked of releasing a CD with that on and the start up music (Sea Songs - Vaugh Williams) and other themes (Farming Diary etc). Sadly it never came to anything.
This brought back memories I remember watching this first transmission in Lowestoft as a 7 year old..
However the Chairmans comment that 'The station will serve the Special needs of East Anglia' would probably be misinterpreted by someone to day who would quickly be 'offended'
@Orodeslll They all used to speak like that back then lol

I didn't forget it!
I remember having to drink glasses of milk (which I hate) as they filmed 2 shows in one day.
Everyone from my Dad's work crammed into our front room to watch it.
Miss Rosalyn was lovely - but had to ask me to stop talking! Nothing changes!!

I do remember that the lady in charge almost seemed to be in control of the littleuns-just..
The Anglia Knight I always liked, the piece played as the knight revolved got me into classical music at an early age.
