  • Been there,....done that! Its not easy, but one must learn to embrace the uncertainty.

  • you teach the opposite i learned, they allways say.. keep the job a few years.. i quit to early every f..cking job.

  • @samurai184 This is not about quitting jobs. It's about living the life you want to live and make the most out of it. That might mean that you need to quit your job, but only to move on to something better.

  • @Griever3676 the problem also is to find out what kind of life you really want..

strange but if you have no focus theres no goal.. thats my stupid problem...

i get your point.. thanx grts

  • @samurai184 Totally agree. I encourage you to buy one of the books this man wrote. It's called hunting the shadow, and you'll find it on his website wwwgeoffthompsoncom

  • Read "The Elephant & the Twig" by Geoff Thompson it will totally change your thinking.

The point he is making here is don't let fear of change or failure stop you from achieving your goals.

We can all learn so much from this bloke as he has come up from nothing and is blossoming on so many levels.

  • @Jetshite great book : )

  • Geoff Thompson is the best man out there, i really love this video, it's brought me some motive and insperational in my life,

    thank you...

  • It's good to work with the body but just as a factory job may be unforefilling is training to do damage to people forefilling? he knows more about fighting than I do but I should think he knows as much about life as me. If you want to be a sage then judged ye shall be. Some people like doing what others would call shit jobs,it's up to them, why should they be called scared? I wouldn't like to work in a factory but each to their own. Life is what happens when your planning something else!

  • I think you might be missing the point a little on what geoff tryin to say. I mite be wrong but i dont think he's slating the job, he's using it to illustrate people listening to their fears more than their ambitions. how the fear is controlling them. As far as finding fulfillment in fighting goes, geoff is actually a devout chrisitan who preaches avoidance and retreat over anything else. Training to fight is just some people's way of taming the fears they have about being weak.

  • I think you're wrong. People don't go to his seminars to hear 60% of it based on avoidance and retreat. In your first example you state"Fear is controlling them..." So what,if anything,is different about training to fight to tame your fears?(in your second example) Seems to me fear is heavily involved in both your scenarios.

  • Accurate comment mate.

  • If you do a 'shit job' and enjoy it then good for you!

The point is that this works both ways... if you were a Bank Manager but hated it, and you really just wanted to operate a power press all day then it's the same fear and living to others expectations that's preventing you.

In fact in many ways it's much harder to go from a 'good' high paid job to something seen as lesser by others. But if that's what you really want to do then the only thing stopping you is YOU.

  • That's stating the obvious. "The point is.." I really don't understand, either yours or his point. Are you saying where you are in life is up to you? That is obvious. Geoff Thompson says we need to keep moving on,don't be planted. How long has he been making a living in martial arts? Ok,he enjoys it. And some folk enjoy digging ditchers.

  • what he say's is very true,

really nice off him to put this one

    Louis....

  • Geoff is a legend, he has some great books.

  • i recommend the book, very good read.

  • Geoff Thompson is the best man out there, i really love this video, it's brought me some motive and insperational in my life, i will buy the book and read it, what he say's is very true. im in a postion where i have been planted and now watching this make's me more determined.

  • Mate, I read his "Watch my Back" book. I do recommend it.

  • He's right about fear. I've seen a lot of people who won't move on from a lousy neighborhood or a lousy career because they don't know the "outside world."

But the flipside is that these people were incredibly reckless withing their own community, engaging in behaviors that would get them in trouble.

  • Thank you, for the motivation! :-)

  • Awesome philosophy ...very inspirational and motivating! thank you Geoff :P

  • that was most doubleplusgood

thank you, I needed to hear that. what he said can apply to anything in life, if a situation that I have Myself in gets stale, I need to change before it overtakes me.

very nice "beat" at the end ;)

  • geoff is a true fighter ,who struggled with fear all his life!like us all !! only he beats his fear every time

  • takein from the book. watch my back

  • i feel sorry for you. i too used to be a sad frustrated little loser who spent his time belittling others instead of improving his own life. take more time to watch more videos like geoff's and you will be a better man.

  • Very true - wish I'd known this when I left school...

  • One man realy worth taking the time to sit and listern too keep up the great work geoff god bless

  • Very interesting philosophy.

  • This guy is very very hard. Good thing he is a nice bloke in out days. I wouldnt want to have a fight with him.

  • well said geoff! as always!

  • perfect philosophy!!!

    the book he wrote called

    The elephant and the twig

is like a bible to me, so well written

    simple and beautiful

Thanks & God bless you Geoff

  • I have "Shape Shifter - How to Transform Your Life in 1 Day" by Geoff Thompson and I need "Watch My Back". If anybody wants to exchange - contact me.

  • Definitely interested, mail me to my inbox and we might be able to sort something out.

  • Geoff Thompson is a legend.

  • Mistakes make for excellent learning oppertunities. He learned from his, I figure.

  • Really liked his explanation of fears in his book. However, not sure why he is banging on about sticking in the same job.....How long was he a bouncer for? Not the most fullfilling job in the world.

  • I think he was referring to the job side in particular because people spend most of their waking life working in some form or another, and many people settle for anything, and not what they'd really like to do. As for him spending a long time on the door, he got into it, I believe to confront his fear of violence, but perhaps he got "stuck in a rut" too with it. Good point though. I guess it takes stones to get out of what you hate doing, and to go off in your own direction.

  • its just something to get his point across, he isnt saying you need to leave your job, its just an example, otherwise it would be very hard to explain

  • He was referring to his personal experience in the days when unemployment was rampant in the UK and he had a job in the factory where, I thinl, his dad and all his friends worked in a blue-collar position, the union, and all that, acting as a "security blanket" which discourages people to strike out into the unknown. The bouncer job was what slowly led him to leave his day job slowly over the years, and finally to summon the will to make a clean break and start a new life and career path.

  • geoff thomphson is the best. id pay good money to watch him kick f out of amir khan

  • It's funny but after watching this video I thought this is the only one I've seen on the Arts that touches on the philosophical aspect of them. You tend to forget that side of them when you get bogged down with all the technics.

  • Hit the nail on the head.

  • The mans a legend! For someone who's hard as nails hes got the mind and personality to back it up!

  • Respect Geoff, you talk a lot of sense.

  • never heard him talk before i think his books are great what he is saying makes so much sence

  • great. all geoff thompson's stuff is great.

  • great stuff geoff keep it coming
