By Allaah, that was not an insult. And I never mention that you were a Sufi/Shi'a. "Because he warned against your role models?" I've said that because he has warned of some of the Imams(i.e Hamza Yusuf, Imran Hussien etc..) and some slandered/insulted him for that but he gave clear proof for it. Can someone please help me? I used to listen to music but then I started to hear it was prohibited. The music I listen to has no bad language or talks about haram things but it talks about whats going on in the world which can help me in school alot. Would this be labelled as haram? Could you also back up the anwser?

@GodLikeSkillz14 My brother, our Aqeedah of this Muslim Ummah of today is very low.. We're not like the Sahabah, we're not like the people of the Salaf.

We're very weak(in Imaan), while we are weak, we are very very easy target for the Shayateen! So what I suggest you is that leave it, whether the content is bad or good, Shaytan will use it against our prayers, when we supplicate to our Creator and he will try his best to distract us from it. You are all speaking about the massive music industry and what they are doing to music, but you still sing before you pray. We listen to the Quran just as much if not more than we listen to or play other music... we also have played music in accompanyment to the sunnah's of the Quran. Not all Music is haraam. I play music wearing my hijab and my niqab. I am not a bling bling whore. And My husband wears his kufi playing his quitar. We play songs that promote a halaal lifestyle, and if we don't make it to the front of magazines, then so be it, but we play music that feels right, that we feel in our souls is halaal, and we will cry out to Allah on judgement day that you called us "bling bling whores etc." and it is not us who will be burning in hell, but you, for judging us.

"It is not possible for a person to love music and to love music at the same time" This is not true at all.... this hadith is obviously untrue, because I love music and I always have, and I love the Quran and I have been working on memorizing the Quran since I reverted to Quran approximately a year ago. Taweed is a form of music, so this is obviously a contradictory hadith. Nowhere in the Quran does it say that Music is haraam. "There are no words in the Quran directly prohibiting music".

These people doesn't realize that there is time for reading of the Holy Koran and there is time for Prayer. We don't listen to music during prayer time nor we don't listen to music while reading the Holy Koran, because the utterance of Holy Koran itself is like music to our ears.

These people are bunch of assholes who speak haraam, and they think that by listening to music you are associating your self with Saitan. Saitan are on those who pretends they are good because they don't listen to music but look at their lives, they are more like a goat who keeps me-meh all the time about the haraam things. @desertbum2007 You fail to understand that Music come under the Category of Musical Instruments ! Musical Instruments are forbidden in Islam ! Except the " Daf " ! As stated in the Hadiths .. Maher Zain sell his albums, Performs on stage ! Has a back-up crew, They all use all sorts of instruments ! Look at Yusuf-al Islam, Was a rock singer ! & now his a Sheikh, Why didn't he go on to do " Islamic Nasheed "! I have serious concern over Khalid Yasin using profanity. He purports to be informing us about what is halal and haram but he uses foul language while doing it? I now have serious reservations about anything he has to say and I don't care to listen to him anymore.

In general, the Quran does not explicitly forbid music and as another person pointed out, we should not be forbidding what was not forbidden by Allah. However, music should follow other guidelines concerning speech and content. I am

@BrotherYusufable Brother, Are you saying that a a muslim can't listen to music AND memorize the Quran? I must disagree. And the Quran does not hold doubts, what is forbidden is clear. The prohibition of alcohol and adultery is not debatable because it is clear. But the fact that muslims can have a debate about music invalidates the theory that music is haram. Personally, I think that the only harm in music is the amount of time that muslims, instead of making dawa, are fighting over this.

Generally speaking music is disallwed, but one should understand the role of singing, the daff, and other celebratory actions in the cultural expressions of the ansar during the time of Prophet, p.b.u.h. The naqshabandi silsilah takes the relaxed approach of the sahaba towards playing of the daff etc, other paths of tassawuf chisti's for example dont normally allow the daff etc, but dont frown upon it either. I think you have to have a balance, nasheeds with daff are perfectfly permissble imho.
