@TheLoyalOfficer Sorry you didn't like it - I had no control over the environment where this took place. And out of respect for the great Dolemite, I will leave it at that.
Now go away and query more tea party videos, you creepy nutjob. :)
Did he truly get started with Lady Ebony in Cleveland after he came here from Arkansas? I know he was laid out in Akron when he died and later California. Peace.
I interviewed Rudy back in 1999. He was a great guy. Came by to the radio station I worked in Berkeley a couple of times to hang out. Was actually part of his Oakland crew.. so whenever he came to Oakland, I'd get called up and meet him and his manager (I forget his name, Cliff?). On the last show I worked with Rudy, I interviewed him backstage at the Henry J Kaiser Conv Center in 1999.
Dolemite is my name and rappin and tappin is my game. All you have not insecure motherfucka's bow down because I'm here to stake a claim in this pimpin and hustling game!!!!!!!!!! R.I.P.
Rudy was a true Gent!! I met him pre Movie days... He invited me and a couple of girls I was with at the time, to a recording session he was doing in L.A. Had A Blast!!! R.I.P. ...Sunset Slim
People, this is one of the greatest. A Lion in His winter. This Brother made & distributed His own films & stayed on the road with His act.A pervayer of the sub-culture of being able to think on your feet and 'scold" ( play the dozens) ( now aka freestyle) with the best of them. He influenced H. Rap Brown and us all. R.I.P

I use to work for a video distribution company that distributed his titles. I would talk to him for hours when he came into the office. He was a very introspective man, soft spoken and caring. I can remember him giving me advice about my creative endeavors. He was always positive, i HOPE THIS GIVES YOU A WINDOW INTO THE MAN behind the dolemite character. RIP RUDY
I sent him an email inquiring about possibly booking him a show in Dayton, and he called me on the phone. We talked for about a half an hour. He filled me up with his memories of playing the Apollo theatre in Dayton in 1963. It was a conversation that I'll cherish to the grave. He was such a grand man.
hes the best!!!!!

The greatest martial artist of all time. Would beat Chuck Norris, Jean Claude Van Damme, and Steven Segal with both hands tied behind his back.

@Black Serpent 1 Are you serious ?? He's NOT a Martial artist !!! Not even close !! He was a stand up comedian !!!

Very poor quality. Let the Great Dolemite speak without all of that background noise - geez. Interviewing 101... Weak.

Amazing interview, this man was a legend! Just curious though, did the interview take place in a nursing home or assisted living facility?

@yankeefan42 I promised him I would never disclose the facility where this interview took place. But we were in Las Vegas at the time.
