Men commited indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion."
I am a big fan of Dolly Parton and Jesus too. The Bible is VERY clear that we are to love everyone irrespective of what they do. This does not mean, which is also very clear in the Bible, that accepting all people means you have to accept everything that they do. This is to unconditionally love another person. Love the sinner, hate the sin.- that is very Biblical and therefore Christian.
@AshMbrs1 God wants LOVE and be yourself and Dollys sings her love for God so you without sin?? @lgbtTV4 You fail to recognize the context in which different passages of the Bible are written. There is a reason why Jews won't eat pork, but it is completely fine for Christians to eat pork.
3) "Those who are slaves must consider their masters worthy of all respect, so that no one will speak evil of the name of God and of our teaching. Slaves belonging to Christian masters must not despise them, for they are their brothers." (1 Timothy 6:1-2). So Harriet Tubman and other abolitionists were sinners?
4) And sexual slavery of young girls is okay! (Exodus 21:7) (Gen 19:5, 19:8). So CONSENSUAL sex among ADULT MEN is wrong but sexual slavery of minors is fine?
@lgbtTV4 Gen 19:5, you misused that verse terribly. The people that desired to have sex with those men were DESTROYED by God. The entire city was destroyed and only Lot and his two daughters survived. 19:8, if you actually understood the context you would realize that Lot was corrupted by his environment and that the Bible does not at all condone Lot's actions. You need to learn how to read the Bible my friend. You also need to learn what the points of each book of the Bible is are.
@NumberOneCollegeFan The Sodom wasn't destroyed because of the act of consensual homosexual sex, they were destroyed because the people Sodom raped travelers. There is a similar story in the book of Judges, only this time it involved a female. The point of these stories is to describe the sin of sexual immorality--that does not include homosexuality. You would know that if you looked up the biblical definition of 'sexual immorality.' Looks like YOU need to learn how to read the Bible, my friend.
@LuvDatLaDiDa Homosexuality is absolutely sexual immorality. "For this reason God gave them up to vile passions. For even their women exchanged the natural use for what is against nature. Likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust for one another, men with men committing what is shameful, and receiving in themselves the penalty of their error which was due." Romans 26-27
Homosexuality is without a doubt immoral, and is a sin.
@NumberOneCollegeFan Do not spout passages at me. I know my religion. If you read that thoroughly, it says that the shameful act is giving up the natural for LUST. I cannot speak for lustful homosexuals, but I myself as a MORALLY SOUND HOMOSEXUAL can say that I act on love, not lust.
@LuvDatLaDiDa Twist the word all you want. That's all you're doing. Read Genesis 2:22-24. If you claim to know your religion than there is no denying that man and woman are designed to be together and anything different than that is lust, is immoral, is against God's design, and is therefore a sin.
@NumberOneCollegeFan Look at it scientifically. Homosexuality is found in over 1,500 species; Homophobia is found in only one. Which do you think God will find more unnatural? God didn't make the mistake of making homosexuals. Man made the mistake of rewriting the Bible to twist God's words into hateful scriptures. You're entitled to your opinion and, frankly, neither of us will know until judgement day. My God is one that I know to love me and want me to be happy. THAT'S what the Bible tells ME
@NumberOneCollegeFan Sorry about the grammatical error at the beginning of the post I just made. I had to shorted what I said because of the character limit and forgot to correct what I'd fixed.
Hmmm ... let's compare Dolly's belief for acceptance and racial harmony with your "holy " book...
1) "Your male and female slaves are to come from the nations around you, from them you may buy slaves" (Leviticus (25:44). So we should judge people in terms of race, and enslave people based on race.
2) "You can will them to your children as inherited property and can make them slaves for life" (Leviticus 25:45). And there is no chance for emancipation.
@AshMbrs1 wrote "Dolly, how long has it been now since you gave up your Higher Power?"

Hmmmm...here you have Dolly who is asking for acceptance of others and racial harmony. On the other hand, the "holy" book of your "higher being" fully supports slavery based on race (Leviticus (25:44), is against emancipation (Leviticus 25:45), and condemns those who are against slavery (1 Timothy 6:1-2).
@AshMbrs1 asks "Is being an idol truely worth it?"

Dolly is PROVEN to have given millions to help others. And not once killed or harmed anyone. On the other, you have a negligent Father with limitless wealth and power who allowed the millions of his Jewish children to suffer and die, and similar numbers of his Christian children to perish in The Plague, etc -- not to mention the millions that go hungry today.

And a "holy" book that asks for the death of those who work on the Sabbath (Exodus 35:2), etc.
To anyone rational and logical, the choice is obvious.
@AshMbrs1 wrote "Dolly, how long has it been now since you gave up your Higher Power?... Is being an idol truely worth it?"

What "Higher Power"? Let's do a rational analysis: On the one hand, we have an unproven mythical "higher power." (if you say I'm wrong, show me the evidence. haha) On the other, we have Dolly living a happy fulfilling life, bringing joy to millions of people worldwide -- all of which can be verified.
To anyone rational and logical, the choice is obvious.
Too many people putting labels on themselves and others. Time to waken up people! Like Dolly said, we should dig deep and find a little more love in our hears. Live and let live! If you must judge maybe start with along hard look in the mirror! Ask yourself if you are honestly living a life of love, compassion and acceptance of all Gods children before you begin to judge another!
Amen sister .. we are all wonderful creations of God. No more wonderful than another just different. Pass the message on .... we are here through a remarkable series of events . Firstly that on sperm f many million reached the egg, then the egg survived long enough to implant and finally we endured a long gestation to be born as perfect as God intended. All different but no less wonderful. Never lose sight of that
Dolly Parton is a gay icon because she openly embraces the gay community. Oprah had a tribute to Dolly featurung Melissa Eheridge and Shania Twain. When asked about gay marriage, Dolly said, "Sure I support gay marriage. Why shouldn't they have to suffer just like the rest of us?" Shania also jokingly accused Melissa of flirting with Dolly. Dolly later showed Oprah an area on her bus for daily prayers. Dolly and Oprah are true Christians, using religion for love rather than judgment and hate.
Dolly also has a famous story of anonymously going to a gay/drag Dolly Parton lookalike contest -- and losing! And of course, there 's her Oscar-nominated song, Travelin' Thru, for the movie, TransAmerica. The movie is about a transgender woman's journey through life. See Description for lyeics.
Because of the subject matter and Dolly's inclusion of "Jesus"and "God" in the lyrics, she received death threats and can no longer sing the song in concerts. Although I'm an atheist, here's my favorite line, "God made me for a reason and nothing is in vain." Dolly was already a legendary songwriter and singer so she chose the project out of conviction, not money. Not only did she write the lyrics, but she performed the song as well. That's why we love her.
@lgbtTV4 i too am a atheist. based on the interviews she has given -- i have deduced that dolly is not a evangalist--but i think her higher power is the great smokey mountains. i saw a interview she did one time that convinced me she is not a christian. i think her fan base would freak if they found out--so she tries to keep it under the belt--e mail me if you want to find out why i believe she not as religious as she proclaims and this is based on her own words.
@insaner169 wrote "oprah denied Christ on national television, how does that make her a true christian?"
QUOTE where Oprah "denied Christ." Since it was "on national television," I'm sure you'll have no problems finding footage, or reports on that alleged denial. Please give me the exact footage, quote, episode number, date, etc. Or failing those, give me a reputable source that cites the incident. Then we'll discuss how she is a true Christian. I eagerly await your proof.
@insaner169 wrote "did you even bother to type "oprah denies Christ" on the youtube search bar?"
No. As I tell my students, it's not up to me to do your research. If you are going to make a claim, it's up to YOU to support it, not up to me to find evidence. And you did not. Even your response provided no info. I don't care what others have said. YOU made the post so I want to hear YOUR reasoning. There are lots of UFO/Ghost videos on YouTube. Does that make them real? THINK about it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
@lgbtTV4 then you are a terrible teacher, teaching your "students" to stifle critical thought, to not research the opposing arguments before forming an informed opinion, and to be lazy in their scholarship. do yourself a favor and stop being lazy, you had enough information to do your own research which would have taken you all but 5 minutes, and that includes watching the video evidence you "asked" for. but you said you are atheist, so what do you care if oprah is christian or not?
@insaner169 Why didn't you just try answering the question? It;s clear that you simply couldn't support your claim. Here's a clue: if you have valid information, share it. Don't say something stupid like, look it up yourself. Duh.
It's no one's job to prove your claims but yourself.
@insaner169 I'm also a teacher, and "go look it up" is never an acceptable answer. It's like providing a bibliography without writing the paper. The biggest problem is that I looking up an article doesn't prove that YOU understand (or read) the source material. Sorry, but you've failed miserably.
@insaner169 Oh, I wasn't aware that Youtube has rules against replying to old comments. Please show us the webpage where this is written or even implied. If youtube had wanted that they would have put in an expiration date. If you didn't want a reply, then don't post. Or delete your posts. Is that so hard to understand?
It's a shame that you won't address the points they raised -- or anyone else raised -- and instead question why anyone would reply to an 8 month old comment.
@insaner169 So? Does it being 8 month old mean that your comment is any less wrong? I would hope that teachers teach their students to examine history and challenge it if they see something wrong, and that's what they did. Don't scientists constantly re-examine old theories to refine and change them? If you don't want replies, you should reconsider putting up pointless posts like the one I'm replying to.

Here is the music video:

@lgbtTV4 oprah denied Christ on national television, how does that make her a true christian?

QUOTE where Oprah "denied Christ." Since it was "on national television," I'm sure you'll have no problems finding footage, or reports on that alleged denial. Please give me the exact footage, quote, episode number, date, etc. Or failing those, give me a reputable source that cites the incident. Then we'll discuss how she is a true Christian. I eagerly await your proof.

@lgbtTV4 did you even bother to type "oprah denies Christ" on the youtube search bar?

This comment has received too many negative votes show
@lgbtTV4 then you are a terrible teacher, teaching your "students" to stifle critical thought, to not research the opposing arguments before forming an informed opinion, and to be lazy in their scholarship. do yourself a favor and stop being lazy, you had enough information to do your own research which would have taken you all but 5 minutes, and that includes watching the video evidence you "asked" for. but you said you are atheist, so what do you care if oprah is christian or not?
insaner169 9 months ago
@insaner169 Why didn't you just try answering the question? It;s clear that you simply couldn't support your claim. Here's a clue: if you have valid information, share it. Don't say something stupid like, look it up yourself. Duh.
It's no one's job to prove your claims but yourself.

@insaner169 I'm also a teacher, and "go look it up" is never an acceptable answer. It's like providing a bibliography without writing the paper. The biggest problem is that I looking up an article doesn't prove that YOU understand (or read) the source material. Sorry, but you've failed miserably.

@IDoNotTeach @BriannaNoob did you guys seriously just go and reply to an 8 month old comment?
and to say what exactly? with what purpose? to pick a fight? as teachers, is this then what you teach your students?
insaner169 1 month ago
@insaner169 Oh, I wasn't aware that Youtube has rules against replying to old comments. Please show us the webpage where this is written or even implied. If youtube had wanted that they would have put in an expiration date. If you didn't want a reply, then don't post. Or delete your posts. Is that so hard to understand?
It's a shame that you won't address the points they raised -- or anyone else raised -- and instead question why anyone would reply to an 8 month old comment.
gradstudentxoxo 1 month ago 3
@insaner169 So? Does it being 8 month old mean that your comment is any less wrong? I would hope that teachers teach their students to examine history and challenge it if they see something wrong, and that's what they did. Don't scientists constantly re-examine old theories to refine and change them? If you don't want replies, you should reconsider putting up pointless posts like the one I'm replying to.
