Anyways, if you know so much then it should be obvious that this band doesn't sound very good. I personally dont think there's anything wrong with that, as long as kids are still playing music in schools, i'm happy. I just dont like when people get all high n' mighty over something as rediculous as this. You start cussing out all these kids and acting like you know so much more
Too slow. Waaaaay to slow. And there's a bunch of wrong notes. The horn part and euphonium cues aren't loud enough and the base clarinet/eupho part at 85 isn't loud enough.

It was okay, FOR A CONCERT BAND. But for a concert band why didn't you take on a easier version if you are there is not not enough time? Secondly I am going to agree with the guy that said epic fail int he trumpet section. In my band (no string instruments)we have 7 trumpets and we played a version of the song, We had that part down, Now i understand you had 2 trumpets...but with that case they should have stepped up and learned their part a little better. A 3 in UIL would have been good.
I'll agree on the fact that there were things lacking and some mistakes and a bit slow and some out of tone parts. It has nothing to do with festivals, it's just to show what kind of things happen in the program so the songs are loosely put together.

I was running an entire farm by 13 years old, literally, as a business. I had a paying job for 2 years by the time I was your age. By the time I was your age, I owned my own animals, did 90% of the cleaning in my parent's house, and worked for my father running wires and helping to install security systems.

It cost me $577 with help from our booster club. My grandparents paid for it since my grades are pretty good for the classes that i am taking. It was SOOO much fun, I just got back this past Sunday, I want to go back again eventually. I found out we're doing this song for our concert too, I'm excited because i have the piccolo solo.
Another word of advice.... I am playing this currently in my concert band to prepare us for our DisneyLand trip in May, and I reccommend that you get a piccolo. I know there is a solo in there, and my personal opinion, THOUGH, the solo isn't easy [I know, I play piccolo] it'd sound much better.
We actually do have an amazing pic player. Just give me a couple days... I have a festival piece we did a couple months ago that has a really good pic solo in it that my friend played.
OMG your band got ecceoted to well mine was going to go to disney land but there were to many poor pple in our band and idnt want to 600 dollars sooo we went to gatlinburg but how was disney??? and we are playing this song to in our band i love!!!
Actually the piccolo solo isn't that hard, all you do is just play a few times slowly and get the rhythm and then just start to speed it up. It took me less then a week to learn the solos when we played this in my school
There are a few great flautists in our band... unfortunately, our flute section is inescapably huge. But again, that was our first concert of the year. I'll post more audio in a couple weeks of our next performance, but we really can't be judged on that.
If anything, the percussion section bombed because some asshole insisted on not letting us rehearse with the band... it was so dumb.
At any rate, yeah... they aren't that bad. Honest.
It's because there's this guy who came to teach at the school who thinks he's hot shit because he went to college for percussion and he pulled our section out and wouldn't even let us practice our music during rehearsal time. Instead we just did stupid elementary exercises when we play in a high school band and when it came to the week before the concert we were desperately trying to sight read our parts. It was so dumb.
Oh, I see. lol I'm not even in High School anymore, I graduated last year and I'm just back for updates.
Yeah I wouldn't judge us off of that performance, it was our first of the season, just getting everything up and running and getting the new people into the step of things.
Once festival hits we get pretty tight. We've got another performance up in under a month, so hopefully I'll be getting audio from that.
We're in Western Canada, good to know we're considered decent elsewhere!

You should see my audition snare piece. Goes between 32nd notes in 4/4 to 6/8 with two switches and stupidly placed rim shots. I love it.
