Plain and simple, more drivers of four-wheeled vehicles need to be aware of the dangers involved. If you cut over in front of an 18-wheeler, you are asking to be hurt or killed. These trucks gross as much as 40 tons loaded, and they can not stop on a dime. And if you think you have a bad blind spot, you should try driving a semi. They have blind spots twice the size of your vehicle.

Here is a story, true event, and I was apart of it.. My step dad is a lorry driver, drives truck and trailer, We had a full load of sugar beet, and this idiot from no were came out of 1 lane swerved in front of us,

I drive a flatbed Pete. I know there are sum idiots out there but these trucks are deadly for both u and I. But if we stop them u wouldn't have any food, water, fuel, or many other resources u use. Yes there are rigs that ride close to cars. But way more cars that race rigs on off/on ramps, cut off, stop short, and just driving down right agressive. @gumpwhite I'm glad some states are starting to ticket drivers who cut in front of big rigs too soon; I've met a lot of drivers in my travels across the country. I met one man who quit driving after over 20 years because a little compact pulled out in front of his truck ( from on-ramp all the way to the left lane ) and brake checked him; needless to say the driver and passenger of the car are no longer with us.
Car's think that trucks can stop on a dime ...which they can't....thats why cars should give a little more distance...so accedents don't happen in the first place...

Too many times I've been driving in the slow lane +5-10 mph over the speed limit only to have a semi roll up to 10 feet on my back bumper and sit there for a 1/2 mile. Do truckers not understand that if I suddenly have to break, they won't have time to stop? Why are you putting my life in danger?

as the son of a truck driver, i have seen many accidents while going with my father. most of what i had seen had fatalities as the result of a car cutting of a truck, or stupity at the wheel. for example, when a rig is turning left to prepare for a wide right turn, a person in the same lane as the truck speeds up beside the trailer, and when they realize its to late to slow down, they get hit.
Remember, if you cant see the driver, he cannot see you.
My husband is a truck driver, and I have seen many of these accidents first hand. There are more rules and regulations, log books, HUGE fines, for everything involving an 18 wheeler. @YamaNAH181 - I believe I've seen video from this incident. The truck was a cab-over, and both vehicles were at fault. It was a three-lane section of road. Neither one signaled properly, and the car moved right from the left lane just before the truck moved left from the right lane. The trucker apparently was still looking in his mirror as he moved left. Both vehicles were at fault. Video indicates both vehicles gave the typical idiot's one or two-blink version of signaling.

@YamaNAH181 Nose or no nose, if I dont see a car thats in front of me before it gets in a blind spot then I have no business driving a truck. Ive driven trucks and buses and with a mirror over the passenger door you sure as hell can see whats on the other side of the truck.

@YamaNAH181 - I believe I've seen video from this incident. The truck was a cab-over, and both vehicles were at fault. It was a three-lane section of road. Neither one signaled properly, and the car moved right from the left lane just before the truck moved left from the right lane. The trucker apparently was still looking in his mirror as he moved left. Both vehicles were at fault. Video indicates both vehicles gave the typical idiot's one or two-blink version of signaling.

Theres a thing called "blindspots" which is where you cant see OR you pulled out in front of 40+ tons travelling at the speed limit! (Trucks dont stop as well as cars stupid!!)

I'm a trucker,my truck's 16ft high by 55ft long, if you don't give way, I make way, sorry but use ya head, it ain't sunday every day and I gota job to do...ps when two lanes are closed out of three it dont mean you have to leave it till the last minute to move into the open lane....I flipped a car the other day, his fault, his car, not my truck...LOL :)
