  • hi, first let me tell u you are amazing! second can u make an episode explaining how to mix portrait colours, i think its so important for an artist to understand those things :)

  • Thank you for your kind words.

The musician on this demo is Mario Monreal on piano.

Soon I have an in-depth tutorial available in App Store.

  • Thank you sir; very well done. I've got the "fast forward" w/ background music version of your portrait painting on this youtube channel. I wish it would be split in sessions so that we can listen to your instructions. Nontheless, your art is amazing!

  • Thank you for your comment.

The underpainting is in acrylic. I rub with oil medium and immediately I start to paint in oil.

I am preparing a long tutorial with all kinds of everything that might be of interest. Soon available in App Store.

  • When you say "Rub in medium" are you talking about the acrylic or are you using something between the acrylic and the oil paint? I think the acrylic underpainting is clever, I never thought of that before. I've been doing it in oil, but I like what you did. Could you do a straight skin tone palette video? Your hand is more delicate than mine, I'd wonder if you could teach me (us) your method? Thanks for the video! :-)

  • Usually I paint the face in one single session during one day because I work wet in wet. Later I do some corrections once the paint is dry.

    Happy New Year.

  • how long did this take you ?????

  • This is beautiful :')

  • great study' thanks

  • very nice..

  • Thank you. I do teach during summer courses. But than you have to travel to France. Anyhow next year some of my tutorials will be available on App store.

  • Simply Great. I would like to have you as a teacher.

  • Thank you. Soon there are available some complete tutorials in App store.

  • looks like lucy from Narnia

  • Excellent work! Thanks :)

  • an undeniable talent! Nice work ^^

  • what do you mean by rub in with medium? what kind of medium? sorry if that's a silly question, I'm new to oil paints and painting in general.

  • Really enjoyed this video. Are you painting alla prima throughout or are you allowing the paint to dry at times? I am so inspired by this painting

  • nice work... thanks.

  • Love your work!

  • Painting the hair is always my biggest obstacle. I need to learn how to be "loose" with the paint and not so uptight.

  • Nice portrait.

  • Loved this! Can you tell me what the colours were used for the hair? I am really struggling with grandson's picture re: blonde hair. (Amatuer grannie painter)

  • Thank you.

Long time ago I did airbrush for years and years.

    Glad that I coud stop.

  • Nice artwork. U should try airbrushing.

  • Beautiful portrait and very inspiring. This is done with oils right?

  • good job sir. i love the backgroud music!

  • I was just curious, what's the name of the musical piece you chose for this video?

  • @DCillanewshoez

My friend Mario Monreal is the pianist and he is playing 2 pieces: Mozart -Fantasia re m and Mozart Sonata Sol M II

  • Beautiful painting !!! I love it !!! keep up the good work !!!

  • wow!! just amazing!!

  • I must try this with a photo of one of my grandchildren. Love your music.

  • Very instructive video, thank you so much!

  • Yes I normally work from photography.

  • Is this painting from a photograph?

  • How do you become a good portrait painter?

    BY REALLY WANTING TO!!!!

    Keep trying.

  • looking at all this stuff makes me seem so untalented,

    gosh, you're blessed.

  • lovely work, very inspiring

All painters are Devils, They can steal a soul just by painting it!!!

  • @TheJEmini95

Maybe all painters are devils. But if the sitter does not give you something you can give back nothing!!

    Ben

  • @lustenhouwer

There soul for the ability to live for ever.................... just watching the world go by......

  • Wonderful portrait work!

  • Very pretty! Good work!

  • Hallo Jos.

    Succes. Ben

  • beste Ben, mooie demo!

  • Beautifully done.
