Uncle Ian at his best.! I didn't come across Nightcap till the mid to late 90's. With Ian's increasing ovious vocal problems of that era this whole album was like a much needed breath of fresh air. Although recorded in the 70's it became my favorite of the late 90's as I found " Roots" not to my liking and Dot Com was so damn long in coming
Jethro Tull, The Minstrel Looks Back 1969-1977 2DVD features concert footage from Tampa 1976, London Hippodrome 1977, Beat Club 1970 plus rare footage from Thick as a Brick/Passion Play tours more info available at Tommygunvideo please see our youtube channel for link/clips/more details
I saw consecutive tours -- probably 10 or so -- beginning in 1974 in Hersheypark Arena, PA, then Philly at the Spectrum. I, too, regret not seeing this tour, though a good friend, a tidy bit older than I, saw it. She said it was incredible, the first musical "play" she ever imagined seeing. Incredible genius. Martin Barre is so incredible. Now I'm in TX and Tull skips the hick state, for some reason.
@tsarevna212 Wow!! I'm impressed.. My wife never liked Tull, maybe that's why see left me for a country music lover... Better to have lost her than to have lost my Tull collection!!!!
And your little sisters immaculate virginity wings away upon the bony shoulders of a young horse named george who stole sureptitiously into her geography revision!
What an incredibly creative and confident sound. Jethro Tull was so unique and odd, yet their musical and theatrical ability ascended them to international stardom. It's not hard to see why.
Thanks so much for the upload :) great sound quality.
hey,aqualung71. i was fortunate enough to have seen the original "passion play" tour 7 times, here in the new york area. when this part of the piece came up, i just got so blown away every time! i hope someday, ian decides to put out an official live(from that time)recording of this wonderful piece of genius. anyway, till then, i have to make do with my two vinyl disc l.a.forum concert, that luckily, i have. oh, and by the way, i went to fulham road, and, there was a rush!
This is bloddy wonderful!!! i love it, I truly do. It makes me long all the more to have seen the "Passion Play" tour live & in-person -- it's one of my great regrets that I missed out on witnessing that show.
You know what? I did a wicked thing. I took the Chateau d'Isaster tracks and edited them into the "Passion Play" CD, as sort of bonus tracks wherever I thought they fit best. Personally, I think it's great. However, I doubt that Ian would appove.

@dmemswiler They probably don't come too far south after the "nationalism" statement Ian made just after 911.
