@AgramRules ANY dog may attack when not raised right, no one can deny that, but it's not like ONLY working dogs bite, because they have drive and sometimes their needs are not satisfied they are the most common animals to bite, but an AmStaff is the show version of Pit Bulls (2 words 2 caps, spell it right), and they are also the pet versions, a correctly bred Pit Bull can work, a correctly bred AmStaff simply looks pretty and should have a pet temperament, meaning they should not be aggressive.

An AmStaff from the paper is going to have problems to some degree, they aren't well bred, reputable breeders don't advertise like that, but a correctly bred AmStaff is not strong willed or aggressive and would give up at one bite, a Pit Bull is strong willed and aggressive so it would try to finish what it started, you have to direct that drive toward - 1/3 comments

@AgramRules something else, like weight pulling, Schutzhund, agility, etc, then it will have no desire to bite anyone. A professional Schutzhund trainer once told me that if a Pit Bull is correctly bred with animal aggression he can easily turn that into a useful protection dog that would protect against people also. You can't expect a REAL working dog to be content being a pet, it just doesn't work like that. But Pits and Amstaffs are the number 1 overly and badly bred dog - 2/3 comments

Pitbulls are a misunderstood breed that not everybody should own. Only experienced owners should have a Pitbull because of what they are capable of doing. It's not the breeds fault, it's the owners fault for putting Pitbulls in situations in which the dogs are not suitable for. I have a Pitbull, and I love him very much, but he is STILL A DOG so I cannot always trust him. I never let him alone with my son, or let him roam off the leash in parks.

An 8 y/o girl hospitalized after being attacked by a pit bull.
It happened when Kelcee was getting off the school bus.
He says the dog's owner, Clinton Woosley, saw the dog get loose.
"He saw the dog attack Kelcee, and he got the dog off of her and told her to run while he tried to hold the dog. The dog got loose from him, and attack her again".

I think a lot of irresponsible people are attracted to pits because of the "bad-ass" image and couple with the breed's fighting origin it makes for a terrible combination. Maybe we should consider more factors like, irresponsible breeding (especially with bad temperament), abuse/neglect and the dramatic increase in pit population (thus more pit attacks).

Three young boys attacked by a pitbull tell their story
HARRISON COUNTY, MS - Brandy Beaver was taking the Thanksgiving turkey out of the oven when her youngest son ran inside screaming that a dog attacked him, his friend and his brother.
Friday, all 3 boys were out of the hospital and Beaver credits the quick thinking of two of them that they are all safe.
A 4 y/o was bitten around the neck this evening by a neighbor’s PITBULL while PLAYING in his yard, Chattanooga police said.
As the boy and his father were in front of their residence. The NANNY DOG broke loose from its owner’s backyard, ran up the street and attacked the child, Sgt. Jerri Weary said.

FL man shoots at pitbulls, hits 84 y/o mother
A man accidentally shot his elderly mother while trying to break up fighting pitbulls inside their home in Plantation, FL.
The dogs became aggressive and started fighting each other, Detective Robert Rettig said.
The 84 y/o mother tried to separate them, and her 50 y/o son used a pistol to shoot at the dogs, but ended up hitting his mother, Rettig said.

@AgramRules Jack Russells are also have terrier blood, but it's just a word, the only thing the two have in common is energy. An AmStaff from the paper is going to have problems to some degree, they aren't well bred, reputable breeders don't advertise like that, but a correctly bred AmStaff is not strong willed or aggressive and would give up at one bite, a Pit Bull is strong willed and aggressive so it would try to finish what it started, you have to direct that drive toward - 1/3 comments

A professional Schutzhund trainer once told me that if a Pit Bull is correctly bred with animal aggression he can easily turn that into a useful protection dog that would protect against people also. You can't expect a REAL working dog to be content being a pet, it just doesn't work like that. But Pits and Amstaffs are the number 1 overly and badly bred dog - 2/3 comments

Pitbulls are a misunderstood breed that not everybody should own. Only experienced owners should have a Pitbull because of what they are capable of doing. It's not the breeds fault, it's the owners fault for putting Pitbulls in situations in which the dogs are not suitable for. I have a Pitbull, and I love him very much, but he is STILL A DOG so I cannot always trust him. I never let him alone with my son, or let him roam off the leash in parks.

Residents of the home were there when a friend of the dog's owners brought the woman to the house.

He says the dog's owner, Clinton Woosley, saw the dog get loose.

I think a lot of irresponsible people are attracted to pits because of the "bad-ass" image and couple with the breed's fighting origin it makes for a terrible combination. Maybe we should consider more factors like, irresponsible breeding (especially with bad temperament), abuse/neglect and the dramatic increase in pit population (thus more pit attacks).

Originally, pitbulls were bred as hunting and fighting dogs. They are still bred for that purpose. You just never know what you're gonna get when you adopt or purchase one. According to breeders, they're supposed to be animal aggressive, but they are mauling humans too.

Recognizing that only experienced/expert handlers need to own these dogs is more important than trying to delete these animals. Fighting them, chaining them, hitting them to train them, starving them of attention just CANNOT be done with pit bulls. They are not like any other breed, they were bred to fight (not their fault). To be pets.. they need training!

Merced County - Family Pitbull (NANNY DOG) Attacks Toddler
A 3 y/o boy is recovering after the FAMILY PITBULL mauled him.
"He took a big chunk of his skin and most of his eye," said sister Lupe Becerra.
Lupe Becerra says Smokey attacked their 6 y/o sister just a few months ago, so? she knew how to react when she heard her little brother screaming.
The Sheriff's Department says no criminal charges will be filed because there was NO EVIDENCE OF NEGLECT before the dog attack.

Pitbull (NANNY DOG) attacks girl
8 y/o Brinna Banks was immediately rushed to U.K. Hospital after being bitten in the face by her neighbor's pitbull.
"The whole side of her FACE WAS HANGING OFF right here," described? Billy Banks pointing to his left cheek.
What alarmed Banks and the dog's owner, is the DOG HAS NEVER BEEN VIOLENT before.
