  • we didn't get to do this becuasl the rappel tower happened to fall on Christmas day 2010 during my cycle. Gas chamber smelled like Christmas as well

  • We did this in JROTC at fort sill its fucking amazing

  • @zer0gravity112 You guys got too go to bragg our school never does anything like that.

  • Look at my big bro he is so amazing!!!!!!!!!!

  • @CaptinSuds Yes. THere is a belay person at the bottom. Individuals can brake with hand tension on their lower grip, but if a recruit starts falling the DI on belay will just drop his/her weight on the rope and the Recruit will stop.

  • I just a letter from my sister telling me she had to do this. She made it seem fun. Looks hella scary to me ._____.

  • Rappelling tower is the funniest

  • wow at MCRD they throws down the rappel tower.. I got personal was KICKED off the tower, guess i was taking too long :D good times

  • i was wondering how you can get though this if ur scared of hieghts

  • Prior to Marine Boot, I went through Army Boot Camp and I was deathly afraid of heights, was a very long day for me and I help up the training for about 20 minutes, wasn't a good day for me :) After we returned back to the barracks my senior called me in and gave me an ass chewing and then I was marched down to the Series Commanders office and he said you will become a US Marine in 1 week, you mess up 1 more time and your out of the Corps! 4 years later I received my private pilots license :)

  • i'm guessing it seems scary at first but once you're actually doing it, its fun haha, but i've never done that before, it seems like a rush. and what do you say during the jumping jack?

  • What do u say, when u do the jumping jack at the end?

  • @SoIVIeBoDy Sorry for the delay in response, but yes we do a few dry runs on the ground before we do the real thing.

  • Oh my God....This was so bad for someone afraid of heights...but I was more afraid of my drill instructors....Oh_Rah Devil Dogs.......Pvt on Repel.....

  • we rappeled in JROTC down a hill. We were going to do it off the school but only a few wanted to. It was fun when going down the little hill i cant wait to boot camp 2 more weeks till i enlist :D

  • They made my harness so tight that i still have bruises and its been 4 days

  • my favorite was free falling down the tower. i remember going so fast the drill instructor yelled at me and so" why the fuck in gods name did u so fast?" to which i replied "sir i wanted get down to kill the enemy!"

  • Damn, I'm going to have to do this off a 150 foot tower for JROTC. I hope my instructor is just exaggerating to scare the piss out of my.

  • Is it mandatory?? It's a privilege! One of the best days of boot camp. And you learn quickly that these training days are a time of welcome relief from the constant eyeballs of your drill instructors. Sometimes you think you'd be happy to jump out of an airplane if it would mean getting rid of them for a bit. =) All good stuff.

  • @SoIVIeBoDy Negative on that assumption private

  • How high is the tower?

  • this isnt hard at all, just trust your equipment and you will be perfectly fine

  • I am a female Marine Option in the ROTC program at Texas A&M.We do this during our weekend ocs training trips, had about 20 minutes of instructions for the first time and do the same hight. I have alot of fun doing it. There is nothing to be scared of. As long as you follow the directions you will decend smoothly.

    oorah.

  • Marines look like the stuff they put you thru would be fun but hard.... D:

  • i never want to do this again lol

  • I cant freakin wait for this!!! I ship Feb. 14

  • Do you have to do this more than once?

  • @poojokhb

You only do this once in bootcamp. I wish it were more though. I have gotten a few chances to do it since, but some Marines don't get the chance again.

    Capt Kunze

  • That looked like Capt Villarreal at 3:01.

  • I did this!!! Word for word!!! It wasn't as scary as I thought, it went by pretty fast.

  • This will be without a doubt one of the greatest challenges I will face at bootcamp.

    And I am a guy.

  • S this just one day or all the week you do this in boot camp?

  • haha i remember these, but i did it, is not that bad

  • it crazy like they had their trousers unbloused i remember those days

  • hahahah thats me! man i still get nervous even watching this lol

  • Haha that's my platoon(4012)! I didn't see me in the video though... damn! lol.

  • Is it mandatory to do this???

    Can it be waiverable???

  • @GTA4FREAK1149 Yes, it is mandatory. However, drill instructors and other Marine trainers ensure that you are skilled and ready to tackle the rappel tower when the time comes. My wife was more than a little apprehensive when she faced the tower in boot camp, but she loved it by the time all was said and done.

    Hope that helps,

    Capt Tausch

  • @GTA4FREAK1149 Mandatory???? Of course everything in Parris Island is mandatory dont you ever ask that to a DI...

  • @GTA4FREAK1149 Why the fuck would it be waiverable it's part of recruit training dip shit.
