  • Norm, do you really expect anyone who has read the word of God to believe that Jesus lost the ability to forgive sins when He ascended into Heaven? Please try to avoid thinking of your listeners as a people unable to understand the word of God. And BTW, in Matthew 28 our risen Lord claimed ALL authority in heaven and on earth. So let's just drop that teaching that Jesus could only forgive sins while on Earth, shall we? Thanks.

  • There is an Old Testemant Salvation and there is a New Testement Salvation so don't mix the two --they are different.

The thief was saved under the Old Testemant as the New had not started yet.

The new started at Jesus resurrection--not at His Death.

The Holy Ghost was given 50 days after His resurrection which is a critical part of the New Testement Salvation.

Forget the thief on the cross and be more aware of the thief that is robbing you of truth! True Salvation!

  • Thankyou for preaching the truth! This is such a simple and beautiful event in the Gospel, and denominationalism has tried to twist and pervert it, as they do much of the bible. It's good to see somebody on Youtube preaching what is right!

  • Are you saying that Jesus cannot forgive sins today?

  • This man is a worker of satan.

  • testallthngs......preacher norm is preaching the truth and is a mn of GOD

  • Kingdoms upon kingdoms never ending are at stake here.

  • So if an elderly person on there death bed confesses Jesus as lord and savior. then dies. they are going to hell because they didn't have time to be dunked under water in a bath tub ? What an idiotic ridiculous assumption . To say such a thing shows you are asinine. Baptism is a cleansing ritual of the body ! study encyclopedia's ,world history Jewish history , the bible and it will tell you what i just said. Its a good work glory for good. Its not mandatory for salvation

  • But does the bible say that the COC saved the thief on the cross. Any way does the bible say that we cannot pray to Jesus So what is this false prophet saying!

  • christdiedonthecross... JESUS saved the thief on the cross about 50-53 days b4 the COC was established on the day of pentecost in acts 2 & peter said in acts 2:47 to repent & be baptized for the remission of sins...he didnt say repent & pray to have your sins forgiven or pray to have your sins forgiven..there is no such thing as a sinner's prayer john 9:31..norm is a man of GOD....looks like what you have been taught is false...

  • The church of Christ doesn't save anyone. The saved are added to the church of Christ by Christ (Act 2:47) when they have obeyed the gospel to have their sins washed away in his blood (Acts 22:16; Col. 3:16). It is the blood of Christ that saves (1 Pet. 1:18, 19). When we have been bought by the blood of Christ (1 Cor. 6:20) you are put into the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:13; Acts 20:28; Eph. 1:22, 23). The church is the place of the saved, not the source of salvation.

  • Regardless of which covenant the thief died under, while he was yet living - and while Christ Himself yet lived - Jesus promised the man that that very day he would be with Him in Paradise. While Christ was living among men He had divine authority - being God - to forgive sins (Luke 5:24, cf. Mark 2:5-11).

But seeing as Christ is no longer on earth among men, and His more perfect law is now established forever, what has the thief on the cross to do with our sins and redemption today? Nothing.

  • What do you think is really more important to God? Truly believing in God or being dunked in water? Anyone can complete the act of baptism and have no faith in Jesus Christ. We are still to be baptized according to scripture, but you have to confess that Jesus is Lord and repent before you can even be baptized.

  • Romans 10:8-10 "8But what does it say? "The word is near you; it is in your mouth and in your heart,"[a] that is, the word of faith we are proclaiming: 9That if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. 10For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you confess and are saved."

  • i thought jesus was with us ALWAYS even until the end. (mat.28:20) or when 2 or 3 come together in my name, i am there with them.(mat.18:20) Preacher you have to do a better job of explaining this one....in the name of the Father, Son and Holy Ghost.

  • The Thief was "crucified" with Jesus Christ, similar to what Paul wrote. He was crucified with God. Jesus Christ is GOD and has power everywhere

  • This is good information! Thank you for presenting the Word in such an easy-to-understand format. This helped me a lot!!

  • This has got to be one of the most crazy explanations I have ever heard. A 15 yr old can expound scripture better this false teacher. As one person said, it is almost comical and yet sad at the same time that you have bozo's like this on here teaching foolishness.

  • Baptism is mandatory since the cross unto this day. STOP TRYING TO CHANGE SCRIPTURE to suit your own beliefs. It clearly says what it says.

    Rightly divide the word!

Baptism in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ for the remission of SIN!

WHAT SIN? You need to know this so visit this site and LEARN about salvation before it is to late.

  • And so is communion, to stay In Christ.

  • Preacher Norm is wrong and he should remove this video.

The thief on the cross was saved under the old testemant salvation. WHY? Jesus said today I will see you in Paradise, paradise is where the old testemant saints waited for Christ's resurrection to free them. Read where Abraham comforted the servant as they could see his former master in Hell. These saints have risen with Christ and are in Heaven awaiting their ministry in the New Jerusalem here on earth in the Kingdom

    SalvationJourney c0m

  • your correct when you said the man on the cross is not in heaven. but the old testaments saints are still waiting. they are waiting for the first resurection where the dead in christ will rise, those who are born of water and spirit.then they will be caught up to heaven to reign and judge with christ

  • Preacher Norm, you will stand before a Holy God and give an account to Him for your blatant false teaching. Your arguments for water baptism using the thief is comical to say the least. No where in scripture does it say that a man must be baptized in order to be saved. Adding works to grace is unscriptural. If water baptism is necessary, why does Paul state in 1 Corinthians 1:14-17 that he is glad that he didn't baptize but a few and that he was not sent to baptize but to preach the Gospel?

  • he was glad that he didn't baptize anyone else because he didn't want them being baptized for the wrong reason. He didn't want them or anyone else thinking they were being baptized into Paul. God sent him to preach because he obviously knew their hearts and that they needed to hear the word and understand it first before being baptized. Acts 2:38 gives us a commandment: "Repent AND be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ and you shall recieve the gift of the Holy Spirit."

  • ousooner...typical denominational dribble that you would take the 1 Cor text about Paul not coming to baptize WAY out of context...common sense tells us there were divisions among them about WHO was baptizing them, confusing the significance of their baptism with a name other than Christ...not much different than those today that want to exclude baptism as essential for salvation, calling it some public symbolic non essential act...

Mark 16:16 says baptism is neccessary for salvation btw

  • Break out your bible and turn to Mark 16:16 and I Peter 3:21. The Bible is plain on this subject.

I Corithians 1 is also plain. Paul was dealing with divisions and people calling themselves something other than Christian, they were adding to the word (rev 22:19). They were saying some were of Paul, some Cephas, some Apollos, you know, kinda like denominations today. I'm of baptist, I'm of methodist, I'm of luther. Read all of I Corinthians.

  • in 1cor 1 - pul warn against some of the early christians denominationg themselves " as being of christ " some denominational folks today go around saying we are the churches of christ!

  • You say, "The thief on the cross apparently was not baptized." Now you do not know that, nor do I, nor does anyone else. Do not allow someone make make such an assumption. John baptized thousands in this very area, and, for all I know, the thief might have been one of them. This is like we view segregation in Mississippi, however: you do not budge one inch and we say "never" and mean it. Likewise, do not budge by saying the thief was not baptized - you do not know it for a fact.

  • You are taking 1 Cor. completely out of context! Paul was confronting the church about "divisions." Just as there are many "divisions" today(baptists, methodists, etc), there is only ONE true church-the Church of CHRIST. We are commanded to be baptized INTO Christ (Gal. 3:27, Rom. 6:3-4). Stop twisting God's Word and obey the truth before it's eternally too late.

  • The Holy Spirit, also known as the Comforter can fall upon many people at God's will. The purpose of the Holy Spirit is to lead and guide you into all truths. Baptism in Jesus name is one of these truths. Baptism does point to Jesus blood shed on the cross as that is the only way to remitt the Adamic Sin. In the old testement the blood of bulls and goats could only cover this sin for one year, the day of Atonement. Jesus's shed blood is the perfect sacrifice as he was born without this sin.

  • A. Forgiveness of sins comes before the gift of the Holy Spirit.

    B. The gift of the Holy Spirit comes before water baptism Acts 10:43-48).

    C. Therefore forgiveness of sins can come before water baptism.

  • They Received a special POWER NOT SALVATION v.46 "For they heard them speak with tongues.." This happend ONLY 2times 1To the Apostles 2. To Cornelius.

Was the promise of Jesus Acts 1:18 "Judea, Samaria And The Gentiles"

Acts 11:1-18 "God has Also granted to the Gentiles the repentance to life."

If those of the Circumcision dont witness that they received a special power they wouldnt let them be baptized, repent, and be saved.

  • Finally, according to Acts 2:38 one receives forgiveness of sins before the gift of the Holy Spirit. Since Cornelius received the gift before water baptism we therefore know his sins were forgiven before water baptism. These scriptures clearly refute the theory that the blood of Christ is contacted in the waters of Baptism. In Acts 2:38 the word for the remission of sins is best translated because of the remission of sins.

  • Incorrect interpetation.

  • We must not forget that we are saved the same way today as Cornelius was in Acts 15:9,11. We also must remember the Gift of the Holy Spirit that Cornelius received before water baptism shows that God filled him with the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:4) To argue that Cornelius was not saved until he was baptized is to say that God fills unsaved people or children of the devil (1 John 3:10) with the Holy Spirit.

  • Prove it that Cornelius was save before he was baptized...

  • 1. The gospel does not include water baptism.

    2. A purified heart and forgiveness of sins and everlasting life all occur at the moment one places 100% trust in Jesus alone for salvation.

  • Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the GOSPEL which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;

By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.

    For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ DIED for our sins according to the Scriptures;

And that he was BURIED, and that he ROSE AGAIN the third day according to the Scriptures: (1Co 15:1-4).

  • Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were BAPTIZED INTO HIS DEATH? (Rom 6:3)

Therefore we are BURIED with him by BAPTISM into death: that LIKE as Christ was RAISED UP from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. (Rom 6:4)

  • jesus says unless a man is born of water and spirit he cannot enter the kingdom of god

  • The New Covenant did not begin until Jesus had ascended into heaven to offer his blood for the sins of man (Heb. 10:9-14; Acts 1:8, 9; Heb. 1:3; Acts 2:29-33, 47).

  • The Romans did not break Jesus' legs b/c He was already dead. The Romans broke the thieves' legs b/c they were still alive. Therefore, the thief, who Jesus (God -- 2nd person of the Trinity) promised salvation died in the New Covenent. Water baptism is not necessary. If water baptism were necessary, then there would be no exceptions. Case closed. Bible wins.

  • Jesus said:

    John 3:5

Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God.

Born again of the water is Christian baptism. Case closed. Bible wins

  • jesus speaks to nicodemus in john 3 and tells him a man MUST be born of and spirit to enter the kingdom. the new covenant didnt take place until jesus ascended up to heaven to his father. remember jesus was the sacrifice and had to offer himself first before the holy ghost could have come. when the apostles found new saints they always baptised them in jesus name
