  • At 7:28 He was down.

  • Who didn't enjoy that "ACE OF BASE" Its a beautiful night during the post game!! I feel like Al Golden is the next Butch Davis as finding and developing talent.

  • James broke otis anderson's record of carries in a game and rushed for over 300 yds. Prob Butch davis's best win at Miami.

  • 13 years ago today...the worst day in ucla football history. and somehow, it seems to have gotten even worse

  • As a UCLA fan, this game is still hard to watch 13 years later. This game was supposed 2 be played earlier in the season but was canceled do to the actual hurricane in Florida that year. I remember goin into this game, I just had a BAD feeling for some reason. This UCLA team was unstoppable offensively but couldn't stop ANYBODY defensively. Even though we were undefeated up to this point, we won a lot of shootout games that year. We were just outscoring teams and it finally came back to bite us.

  • i miss the glory days

  • @MrGabe305

Wasn't really glory, i don't think. We could easily match 9-3...

  • @MrGabe305 and we didn't get let any team score 66 on us...

  • obviously i don't mean 9-3 i mean when we went countless years undefeated the 80's are our nasty 20o1 national championship team... besides just look at um's players in the nfl and well... look at ucla's

  • @MrGabe305 I'm pretty sure Miami is coming back, Al Golden can save the team. But you are right, a ten win season would be nice.

At least we are getting players into the NFL.

  • @TheKassicRock Syracuse in 98 scored 66 on Miami, while the U was still rebuilding

  • People tend to forget that not that long ago UCLA was one game away from the National Championship Game. The ending to that was painful to watch and I'm not even a UCLA fan. UCLA being good at football is great for college football. Hope the Bruins can get back on their feet. Geaux Tigers.

  • @Ballay05 it was a game that was scheduled for Sept but cuz of a hurricane was moved to the end of the year.....wonder what wouldve happened if that game had been played as scheduled

  • @Ballay05 I'm no UCLA fan either, but they really were an amazing team that year, and it was a shame they blew such a huge lead in that game.

  • Well, in every way imaginable 1998 was a great year for me....until that December. I was kicking butt professionally and personally and the cherry on top was this UCLA football season. Then, the roof caved in! :-)

It's hard to look at this game. As one of the Bruin faithful, I hope for a program capable of fielding a team like this again. Sure, it had a porous defense, but they were fun to watch and they had one hell of a leader at QB.

  • RIP Al Blades.

  • Man, if instant replay was around in 1998. What a laughably horrible and homer call on the Melsby "fumble."

  • @jggallow01 Does not matter, that defense of UCLA was not national title calliber, and you got whipped by wisconsin in the rose bowl

  • Knee was on the ground :(

  • UCLA football has never been the same since that day

  • UCLA doesn't take Football seriously anymore. This game makes me sick.

  • canefreak2001 you are the man!!!!!!

  • I remember being so proud of miami after that game. davenport was killin' in that game too.

  • what a game.. why was the arizona team looking so sad?

  • @joshuacalebm Because since UCLA lost, Arizona couldn't go to the Rose Bowl

  • @shorewood2 thanks

  • @joshuacalebm because if ucla had won the game arizona would have went and played in the rose bowl besides egderrin running like he did that's one thing i always remeber about this game

  • @BAMADUVALREPP ok thanks

  • @joshuacalebm hey thats my bad i meant if ucla had won arizona would have represented the pac 10 in the rose bowl,i just worded it wrong ucla beat arizona earlier that year

  • I remember watching this game at a Round Table Pizza....and it established Edgerrin James as my favorite player of all time!!!!

  • Hey canefreak could you please upload the Miami vs FSU game from the 1991 season?

  • another nice video keep it up dude lets Go canes

  • Edgerrin James forever "miami's most celbrated athlete/celbrity. Such a class human being and phenomal athlete..

  • @ThePOKERJEDI I think Ed Reed or Ray Lewis would have something to say about that.

  • What a classic game to be relived. It just reminds me watching this awesome game with my father at my uncles house. Thank You always Canesfreak2001.

  • the edge set a canes record in this game with 299 yards!! UCLA had a HORRIBLE defense...this canes team was real young..miami was too much for UCLA....miami and UCLA always play good games against each other....

  • @getyoasshome I always knew edgerrin james was successful with the colts but DAMN i never knew he had that kind of burst! I guess tearing ur acl really does effect you.

  • @LB3is2Fresh it also doesnt hurt that in college he was only about 210 pounds compared to the 225 or 230 he was with the colts. but yea tearing your ACL sucks.

  • cade mccnown....product of west linn high school...portland oregon...what an arrogant fuck. i loved seeing my probation riddled canes punk his ass....this was the beginning of a new canes era. a lot of young guys on the squad like ed reed, santana moss, reggie wayne etc....

  • wow... this is such a CLASSIC. I have to say thanks again!

  • yoo... really miss that stadium... shit i was probably at this game... i was young so i dont remember !!!

  • They showed arizona cause if ucla would have won, then arizone would have went to the rose bowl and ucla would have went to the championship game.....but my canes ruined both of their plans lol

  • They showed arizona cause if ucla would have won, then arizone would have went to the rose bowl and ucla would have went to the championship game.....but my canes ruined both of their plans lol

  • i wish miami would go back to these jerseys

  • @aydog For sure. and UCLA had a good idea by finally getting rid of the ones they wore here. Man those were ugly.

  • man and we did all of that with scott covington at qb. hahahahahahahahaaa

  • @funguy7979 --- I wish we had Scott Covington last year.

  • @mjabate I second that notion. That kid wasn't great but man did he have heart.

  • Man, ucla was #3 in the country and they couldn't stop a run play if they had 14 defenders. E.James runs for 300+yds and that doesn't even include the rushing from Williams and Davenport. Sheesh

  • As usual, stellar job again canefreak and a million and one thanks.

    Couple awesome plays:

5:48 Santana has his head turned completely around toward the backfield and STILL burns the corner.

7:27 Ed Reed as a freshman makes the one play that perhaps alters the courses of both programs for almost a decade.

8:19 Try that move today and see what happens.

I've been waiting for this vid for a long time. UCLA has never recovered from that day in the Orange Bowl.

  • Great video. As always. Go Canes!

  • Why were they showing the Arizona players watching the game?

  • @Xdiablofoolx I think it was for placing in the PAC-10 since they are both in that conference not sure though.

  • @Xdiablofoolx I think it was for the PAC-10 championship.

  • also why did they show zona so many times?

  • cade mcnown was a joke

  • @jgcane As a Bears fan, WHY DID WE DRAFT HIM?

  • @GENERALSPARTAN27 i am a bears fan too thats why i made the comment what a fucking bust

  • Beast! GO CANES

  • classic game this started back the rise of the U
