DC really does seem to produce a barrage of crap and few really great titles. I think the addiction to #1 is their problem. Even their one-shots say #1. Their titles that are up in the hundreds are their best, but they'll never produce any more real staple titles until they do manage to foster really outstanding stuff. There is a huge fanbase for the titles they're cancelling, but DC just can't manage to stay commited to something past a few arcs at best. We have attention spans dammit!
A great example is Justice League #1. Even though they're still keeping the JLA series. In my mind, they should of just got a new and better team for JLA. Instead, Justice League #1.
Did you read that interview with Didio in that Comic Book News free newspaper thing this week? It sounds like he's trying to tie the whole DCU together a lot more than it has been. It's why the Final Crisis artist is changing. It is focussed on events, which could suck, but it sounds promising. I guess we'll see.
I read his interview in Newsarama. It seemed he was quite disappointed with the cancellation of Blue Beetle. However, I'm still enjoying Final Crisis. I just stop viewing it as a "big event", and as just a story.
That's right man.
RAGE AGAINST THE MACHINE!!!!
I just cut my monthly order in half because of the cost of comics going up $1/issue.
