@JheakrynaKyAlur well, i think the soldiers in iraq are great people fulfilling their honor. But the people who started the war in the USA (e.g. Shell, lockheed) are just to be damned. and politicians who follow the companies that earn money by the war are even worse.

It was just there way of fighting. At the time, it seemed natural to them.
Yes, the zero was a very advanced plane for its time during the lat 1930s however, its success was never truly capitalised on and was outclassed by american planes very quickly
guerilla warfare isnt for cowards, actually its a very intelligent way of defeating a much larger opponent. Look at Mao and the chinese communist guerillas when they faced the KMT nationalists - mao won due to his intelligent use of guerilla warfare
for 2 months straight they would be bombing the island and sending in planes to attack, also they would be sending in photograph planes to take pictures of the island so they could find out what the Japanese were up to. On February 19, 1945 a count of 110,000 US Marines, Most of them not even in their 20's, would be landing on Iwo Jima and for the next 36 days they will be fighting for the island.
it wouldnt annoy me if you corrected my grammar and you did imply that i was spazzing because of "chill out". i was calmly saying that they were navy planes. If anything your the one who getting all pissy about this cuz i made a simple correction that you turned into an argument
is that why they were using ambush tactics on every island and they were on the DEFENSIVE SIDE? and the only reason they brought swords was to behead americans and stuff
They would of course stay hidden in order to elure the enemy and not making themselves sitting targets. The SAS use these tactics, too. That's how they avoid casualties.
Behead americans n stuff? They obviously use them because it's their tradition but to be honest I think the swords are just for show-offs. I believe that if the Japanese ceased their focus on swords and rather produce more Type 96 machine guns and Arisakas they could have, if not won the war, maybe spare their own casualties.
they never intended to prevent casualties, they only wanted to kill as many americans as possible. if they wanted to prevent friendly casualties, then why did they order their men to kill themselves instead of fighting to the death? And I doubt the SAS jumps out of the ground with bayonets and samurai swords, unless your talking about a completely different type of guerilla warfare.
Most of the Japanese were acting foolishly during the war. They should have used their brains to improve their army and research, because it was in general badly equipped. With more improved weapons and by making them in greater quantities, I'm sure they could have killed more Americans.
And what I meant about the SAS is that they perform ambushes and stuff, and they have the task to kill as many enemies and destroy as much as possible without neccesarily making it jeopardize the operation.
well that isnt necessarily true. Their zeroes owned the hell out of the american aircraft in the beggining, (until of course the hellcat was invented). The equipment of both sides and the strategies of both sides were both bad and the same goes for the american side. if they had better weapons and aircraft they would kill more japanese with less casualties. The SAS does the same, your right, but the SAS actually tries to preserve the lives of their men, thats the only difference.
Apart from the A6M Zero, their equipment seemed somewhat inferior to that of the US army. To begin with, I can mention the slow and weakly armed Type 95 Ha-Go tanks, the Type 94 pistol with major faults but unarmoured planes like the Ki-43 Hayabusa did actually give the Americans a hard time with its excellent manueverability. And also, the top scoring fighter aces of the pacific war were all Japanese, which indicates they did know how to fight in the air. So I guess we're both partially right.
Sure but the Japanese only had 29 aces while the US had 1289 Total aces of WWII. Sure the US was fighting on 2 fronts but even divided by 2 the amount of US aces dwarf that of the Japanese.
January 1945 - MacArthur forwarded to the President a Japanese offer to surrender to which was exactly what we accepted 7 months later. Had it been accepted when first offered, there would have been no heavy loss of life on Iwo Jima (over 26,033 Americans killed or wounded, approximately 21,000 Japanese killed) and Okinawa (over 39,000 U.S. dead and wounded, 109,000 Japanese dead)
I dont think u know a thing about this. Swords are carried by every man but it's more about tradittion. The way of JP warriors dont give them the choice of giving up their swords. You fight for JP, you fight for a believe, and that sword is your oath of loyalty.
Duh, dont you think I know that? I know lots more than you think.
The Japs had tons of equipment and resources, they just didn't use it wisely enough. That's my point. In my opinion swords belong to the middle ages and has nothing to do in modern warfare but to show-off.
It's not very nice of you to just point out "you dont know shit about this" etc. Just telling you.
some historians argue that the start of WWII was in 1931 when the Japanese Imperical Army invaded the Chinese province of Manchuria.
keep in mind that China was America's Far Eastern ally at the time. since Japan refused to leave after years of occupation, FDR gradually started cutting off all trade with Japan (no gasoline, no rubber, etc.) this led to Japan planning the attack on Pearl Harbor.
@Royberg aww for the love of god do you know what these guys did to MY country and to my fellow countrymen? the torture us and raped our capital so they deserve it all!! got that and for the record . we are also ordinary people in an ordinary life here in the Philippines
search for "lost evidence - Iwo Jima" in youtube, it does a good job in explaining the stratgies of both the US and Japan on Iwo.
The reason why so many US marines died, it's becuz the Japanese built under ground bunkers n tunnels only at night so the US plane wont see. so the US intelligence thought japan only had like 12000 on Iwo, and there were actually more than 21000 Japanese troops stationed on the island. These US intelligence' mistakes cost a lot of US Marines' lifes!!!
'A guy like him should shut his face' - Clint Eastwood on Spike Lee. Photograph: Nicolas Guerin/Corbis
Clint Eastwood has advised rival film director Spike Lee to "shut his face" after the African-American complained
In an interview with the Guardian published today, Eastwood rejected Lee's complaint that he had failed to include a single African-American soldier in his films Flags of Our Fathers and Letters from Iwo Jima, both about the 1945 battle
Of course there aren't african americans in these movies. In flags of our fathers, the story was about the soldiers that happened to be white ( and one native american,) who planted a flag.
The second was a movie about the japanese army...they didn't have african americans in this movie. To complain about the lack of African Americans in these movies is so fucking stupid. I don't complain about my people not being portrayed in these movies even though they were important to the war effort.
oh read my comments below and Nationsnotregimes' too, he was saying something about the black people served in WWII and they werent included in the movie and he is kinda pissed and i was like yeah, thats how it is.
That's what my father said, in regards to that whole Spike Lee-Clint Eastwood clash. He also pointed out that blacks only made up like 1% (or some other fairly low #) of the armed forces at the time, so the chances of them being "seen" in this movie were pretty low as well.
the americans got pissed b/c they were not warned when the japs attacked PH, i dont care who started it or all that stuff but i liked how the japs held the U.S. off for 36days
you cant talk about the japs not starting it when they bomb pearl and send thousands of american pow's on a the bataan death march. do the research JAPS STARTED WAR WITH AMERICANS
actually roosevelt aided china on war by sending supplies against japan. Then he set a military base in hawaii which threatens Japan. He also knew the attack was going to happen, but did not stop them so he can bring america into war. do your research. =)
yup true, roosevelt did that to germany too, by giving money and supply to russia. but hitler told his navy not to attack american ship. becuase the axis signed the tripact, if one attack a nutral country, than all declare war. so rooseveelt use this as an advantage to join the war. so he lured the japanese in attacking pearl harbor, and BINGO japan bit the bait.
America didn't 'lure' Japan into anything; we simply didn't want to be accomplices to the rape and pillaging of China. So we cut off Japan's oil to try to force them out of China and make peace.
Whatever way you try to spin it, Japan is ultimately at fault, not America.
yes, America did lure. He did an embargo so that japan would get angry and attack. Roosevelt was reported that hawaii was a perfect place to be attacked since defense were below standard. He left behind ships that were mostly biuld prior or during WWI. He moved smaller, more mobile ships to else were and the carriers.carrier Enterprise, three heavy destroyers and nine destroyer were moved to Wake island, while carrier Lexington, three heavy cruisers and five destroyers were moved to midway.
You are incorrect we were well defended if we were nofified . Do you know how many ships, cruisers, and destroyers were stationed there? Alot, about 9/23 ships were sunk. And almost 200 airplanes were sent Japan sent the majority of there airforce.

Maybe Gavrilo Princip was to blame, he killed Franz Ferdinand and set everything in motion. Maybe The Austria-Hungarians were to blame, they repressed the servians.. ... Well you get my point.
