  • what is an abouna and what religion do they represent. Please, anyone??

  • Could someone tell me if this is a Coptic Orthodox liturgy or a Coptic Catholic liturgy ? It's my understanding that there is a difference. Thanks in advance to anyone who can help. Also, I was looking for a Coptic Catholic church in Houston.

  • @Retirement02042012 this is a coptic orthadox liturgy

  • RELIGION, coupled with a lack of healthy critical thinking abilities, is a poison which allows fundamentalist cancers to run rampant across this planet. The big question is, when will all human beings remove this "mind virus" once and for all? I'm talking about all of them. All fantasies. All delusions. It divides the earth. Even worse, it allows a way for people to kill others.

  • @WakeUpMightyEarth ive never seen such an ignorant comment. i feel bad for those of you that dont believe in christ and his power. think about it, how do you think humans and earth were made? do you really think we evolved from apes? i will pray for you in my prayers tonight. GOD BLESS YOU AND THOSE THAT THINK LIKE YOU.

  • @FeLoNyoOoAcErXx Hehe. Ok well, tell me, why do you believe that there was a man called Christ and that he had power? What is this power you speak of anyway?

"...humans and earth were made? do you really think we evolved from apes?"

Well, that's a seperate issue. But as a side note, if there is a god and it made all, it doesn't mean it's the god of the bible.

So, let's deal with the first question and see who is ignorant and who is not.

  • Coptic Orthodoxy is a very beautiful faith and tradition. It is extra special to hear the mystical liturgy sung in English that I can understand. Thank you for this.

  • beautiful prayer music, it touched my soul and my heat and it makes me cry for joy, may Lord Jesus bless the Coptic people who are suffering but they will be rewarded as promised in the bible whoever suffers because the name of Lord Jesus will be rewarded because He is a righteous God and he gives eternal live and joy for those who received his mercy and those who stayed trustful to him and didn't betray him, suffering is this world is nothing comparing to hell, and joy with Jesus is endless

  • For the guys knowledge 50 ad was the foundation of st marks church. The catholic church was formed when constintine became Christian and tried to move the church to current Vatican city. Many things changed including married men being denied priesthood. Later they turned alter around and took tabernacle away

  • It sounds to me like he's giving the liturgy in English, but I believe traditionally it's done in Coptic, the way the Catholic Church used to give the Mass in Latin. Christians who speak Arabic also refer to God as Allah. The difference between Orthodox, Catholic, and Protestant Christians is pretty complex; one difference though is that Orthodox Christians have more books in their Bible than Catholics, and Catholics have more than Protestants.

  • @phool When I went to an Armenian Apostolic Church service I was amazed to see all the books they had!

  • there are different types of arabic. but in this one (coptic) the origin is in egypt so God is also called Allah. But in arabic Allah means God, in Islam "Al Ilah" is what your God is named to be. Its kinda is the same thing but not quite. And we are both people of Abraham and people of the book. Its that we are living Jesus' teachings and you are living Mohammad's

  • The Eastern Orthodox broke from the Roman Catholic Church in 1034. The Protestants broke away in 1534.

  • Wow. You just totally proved that you don't know what you're talking about. The above church is Oriental Orthodox, not Eastern Orthodox, a group that left union with Rome in the 5th century.

  • @Rahula No you just showed your ignorance. Coptic Christians are Oriental Orthodox. You have it all wrong. Rome desired power and actually wanted to change the nicean creed along with adding other things NOT agreed upon by council. Watch the video EARLY CHRISTIAN HISTORY BY DAVIDWITHHUN'S. Its filled with facts you can look up for yourself.. He has several videos in a series about the schism filled with knowledge on this matter

  • @mumswording

What are you on about? I just said myself that the Coptic church is Oriental Orthodox, and then you say the same thing imagining you are contradicting me. That makes no sense.

  • @Rahula OOPS! That message wwas for Dacatholicbandwagon! He said orthodox broke away from rome. Untrue. Rome claimed to be the head and everybody else was under them. Fact is the church was just 1 body so nobody broke away from anything. The true church is the Orthodox Church because all the doctrines, sacraments, theology have not changed. 1 can make the case that Rome created a different God from the bible. Original sin, and purgetory are non biblical & thuss not from Yaweh

  • @mumswording

There is a problem though. You mentioned Rome trying to change the Creed. But that happened long AFTER the schism between the Oriental Orthodox and the Imperial religion. So it's really not relevant to that schism. It really only was such between Rome and the Byzantines.

Dacatholicbandwagon was acting as if this video was about the Eastern Orthodox, but it's not. On top of that, 1034 is an incorrect date (really 1054), as is 1534, as Luther broke off in 1517.
