i ws breaking in the early 80's.and bombing walls. a true b-boy. hearing this gives me chills eachtime i pull this video up. not just the memories, but the entire culture. it was something new and original everday.
"intelligent hoodlum, brain mutilator.
IQ of a genius.... the motivator."
"lets do this brutus......"
this shit got a nigga ready to do the steve martin!
"marly marl pick up the cross fader! tragedy, the live motivator!"
This is just all that Marley Marl shit. Damn! I think he just went into the studio and created this beat. I think he's doing the drum machine and the bells that you hear between the verses. This nigruh's mind for music was/is just impeccable. Damn I love this!!! Fuck it! I'ma start growin my hi-top fade back. Damn that!!
We from NC. However we have relatives in Mount Vernon NY. My cousin went there to visit his mother (My Aunt) back in 88'. And he brought this Marley Marl tape back with him. And he dubed it for me. I was 8 at the time, and it was my first rap album. This was my favorite track off of there. Damn it brings back memories.
maan, these wack azz mc's making songs about stinky legs and white t's. east coast kid! we represents the real hip hop. yall down south dudes can have yall clown time to shine! we will gladly fall back if the real hip hop wont get any air play! this is culture. no games no gimmicks, no dances. just lyrics, skills, braggadocious, competetive MCs. yeahh, yall weak cats got the stage. i will take this anyday. i got a chill hearing this, did you?
I'll never forget hearing a kid in Aliquippa, PA's gym blasting this out of his boombox while we were warming up to get our asses kicked by the Quips in 1989. This was a bad ass tape back in the day!
@sti3 great observation, the way edan rhymes throughout primitive plus (everything from the delivery, rhyme style, sound, production) is very similar to this track. edan always mentions how much late 80s rap means to him, so it wouldnt surprise me at all
OMG this is some Straight Oldschool Shit Here I Had This tape i think it was 1988-89 i have been trying to find this for years this song was off a complilation that Marly Put together that was so tight Brings Back the oldschool times in my life growing up with my Grandparents Who was always yelling For me to turn this song down
