  • how do you make them come out of warp at the exact same time. I know who to have them start at the same time, they just don't go as one.

  • Epic fight, epic perspective.

  • Great vid, really loved it.

  • Always loved TEC on TEC battles, simply for the amount of lead trading sides.

  • "Ah not much... we OH NO THE- BOOM!" Eh ye lost another bombers!

  • Whenever I watch a battle from this perspective I fail to notice I'm getting my arse kicked.

  • I like that view the best. I'm always clicking on a bomber or fighter. 5*****

  • Love this game and Strike craft FTW. To bad it wasnt the advent bomber. I love watching those lasers rip apart enemy ships

  • must be fun, having so much firepower in a small ship like that..

  • like it ALOT thxs 5 stars

  • o crap theres shit flying everywhere at 0:41

  • Lol: a bomber pilot's view ISN'T next to his bomber. SHOCK

  • Does everyone on Youtube play as the TEC?

  • Lol seems like it, i love the Advent personally...

  • Meybe they've only got the demo... I have.

  • me too

  • I do, but I can't play online! :( Haven't been able to update my copy of SOSE

  • Is this a mod? I THINK I see a few ships that I don't recognize.

  • You're prolly just used to seeing them from a different perspective.

  • No, I seriously believe I see some different ship classes in here.

Is this a mod, or is there an update here?

  • I doubt it's a mod with so many ships from the original game.

  • there is a mod that only changed the effects of weapons. volumetric mod that makes weapons fire more noticable and shiny, huge explosions etc.

  • sometimes I wonder whether I should just prove these wrong by trying... no.

  • Man, I always love the TEC battles, with the huge amount of fire going around. Nothing quite like seeing a TON Argonis steaming through the mist of battle, shields visible under sustained fire, blasting rockets and lasers and autocannons out of it's sides, fighters destroyed bombers, and bombers zeroing in and landing home phase-missiles.

  • Screw physics. If there was a game where a donkey blew up in the middle of space and then continued to fly randomly around with an airplane propeller on top of a velociraptor while quoting Napoleon Dynamite, I'd still play it. (As long as it was fun.)

  • wow. that was random sarasangel.

  • Not really.

  • lol, I keep expecting Han Solo to say "Lets blow this thing and go home

Cool vid, I think make another with a larger ship, but a smaller battle

  • In a lot of ways Homeworld 1's fighter was cooler, but it's a matter of taste. However, the original Homeworld is about eight years old... (about scaling. someone mentioned it earlier, but even a HomeWorld 1 scout is absurdly large if you scale it using the mothership)

About space physics... I agree that most of these games are unrealistic, but I'm not sure accurate space physics is compatible with a fun rts.

  • It`s a game, stop debating fucking Physiscs.

Nice video, i must say. Quite iteresting.... i never paid attention to those little guys, well, except for like 20 squadrons at once.

  • is this like homeworld? or not..

  • better. No storyline (you direct campaing yourself) but much better gameplay, graphic, game mechanics and when Homeworld covers small areas of space, Sins cover from several to over 150 planets, separate solar systems and galaxies. Go get the demo and see for yourself, it`s worth it

  • Thanks; I'll try the demo out. I liked the Homeworld series a lot.

  • "Look at all the pretty li-FWOOOOSH-"

    "Sir, we lost another bomber"

  • at least you can see fighters and frigates on homeworld at te same time... in sins of a solar empire I only see theis steam... they are like flYes around elephants

  • Homeworld has smaller unit scale, and is more like only one planet (in sins) each map. What it lacks in size though as compared to sins is made up for powerful and entertaining weapons, and in some peoples opinions, better unit scale.

  • Commentator you are wrong, i have this game and making custom maps, you can have as many planets as you desire, i once had a map that was so big it had something like 9 or 10 solar systems and over 150 planets, this game is absolutely huge.

  • 150 planets, 10 solar systems. Oh well, who cares, it`s 50 planets more, 1 month of playing either way.... xD

  • hahaha this is awesome, ive always thought the fighter/bomber view was epic, and ive been waiting for somone to do this.

    what brought gravity up anyways?

  • I would Say Sins this is a respone to YOUSHOTME4S2

  • Homeworld 2 is more of a combat RTs game as it has huge unit scales very huge and you can make a cast amount of units as sins of the solar empire is more of a strategy as you cant make as many units but if your playing in a big map managing that many units will be hard thats why Sins needed someway a palyer cna manage all of them also so Sins doesnt need a huge unit base strategy also tech trees are preety exact not saying homeworld 2 isnt to so i say if i was to choose homeworld 2 or Sins

  • notice that the bomber is alone

the enemy will notice a squadron of bombers not just a single bomber

  • no wonder there's so many lazors, most of those capital ships is a friggin battleship class

that pilot could get some pay rise or get another job as capital ship crew

  • that was a mad battle. I can't believe the bomber even lasted the whole battle, usally all of mine die out in the fist minute or so.

  • do you have them go up against the enemy flak frigates?

  • That video pumped me up. I've waited all my gaming life for a space game like this. I started off on Escape Velocity and EV Override back in 97' 98'. This game will hold me over for a few years, no problem

  • epic, soase rules all space games

  • Dude these guys are whack that has got to be the sickest video ive seen in forever

  • Seriously. I haven't played it though I can already tell. If your looking for a homeworld type experience this isn't the game to go too. Yeah. A game this big can't do what homeworld can, well it can. But that'd just be too fucking hard. Though it's still a good game I hear, for the strategy element on capturing systems. So that's good.

  • Advent is the best :D I find player for multiplayer, if you want, write me ;)

  • hehe, a tiny bird amongst the giants fierce battle

  • The online in this game is fun. The games can last long though.... And also, some people were wondering whether or not this game requires strategy in battle or if it is decided by who has the most firepower, well.... It is also decided by who has the better ships (you know, upgraded armor, hull hit-points, upgraded cannons, etc). Aaand, it is also decided by what ship type you have, for example, some ship types are better against others, so numbers count for nothing in some situations.

  • i was 2 busy watching the space ships fighting then the bomber

  • i suggest a cup of coffee after such a battle,lol.

  • haha

  • After fighting in that debris-fest? I'd rather down a mug of sedatives, stop myself having a heart attack.

  • I'd just chug down a gatoraid and keep going

    ;P

  • lol

  • As a BIG Fan Of HomeWorld 1 & 2, I have been waiting for something like this for ages....

  • "This game will disappoint. I'll list the reasons." YOUSHOTME4S2

Using your logic I could say:

    1) Homeworld has a very poor multiplayer component because of a pirate component.

    2) Homeworld 1 & 2 are not epic because they lack Sins' scale.

    3) The tech trees in Homeworld 1 & 2 are crippled.

I could say these things, but they are wrong. Homeworld is not inferior because it is a different game than Sins. Sins is not disappointing for being different than Homeworld.

  • He said this game was like HM. However, HM was a combat space game. This isn't. The combat in this game is seriously lacking. The ships are not asthetically pleasing. Nor are the weapons they fire. The game IS disappointing having inferior combat to a game made in 1999. The tech tree in Homeworld 1 was simple and it got the point across. Leaving many choices for the player with a lot of ships.

  • Reply to YOUSHOTME4S2:

I love Homeworld, and I love Sins. What I did not like with your post was your statement that "the game will disappoint." As if you represent everyone's opinion on the game. I was only pointing out what you found "disappointing" I found merely different.

You cannot have a HW-like combat system in a 4X style game. Nor can you have planet (city) micromanagement like in Civilizations. Sins is a hybrid takes both and cuts away the fat so the game can be playable.

  • Homeworld was about combat. If your looking for a game with face paced awesome 1337 combat like HM had, this game will let you down. It does NOT have the epic, fast paced battles of HM because its not HM. IF your looking for that, this WILL let you down. Even my friend who is an EPIC sins fan agrees.

  • I was not arguing against your opinion. I was arguing about how you stated your opinion. By saying "Sins will disappoint if you expect something like Homeworld" is wrong. I expected something like Homeworld, and I was not disappointed with what I got.

You can list every possible reason why Sins sucks but that is not the reason I responded to you in the first place. I am not arguing against what you think. I am arguing against how you state your opinion: very arrogantly.

  • great video :) chek out some of my eve video's Similar style video in a different game. "sca kill collection" is the best one

  • How typical! Look at all you beurocratic scum! There's people dying out there for damn sake!

All you're worried about is how the firring cannons look, how you watch the battle, and how you can only SKIRMISH?!?!?!

What the hell is WRONG with you people?!?!

Okay, on a serious note now, this game r0xx0rz my b0xx0rz and I personally think everyone should buy five copies for each person they know (including themselves, of course).

    Yeah, it's THAT freaking good.

  • How were you able to follow that one ship like that?

  • zoom in on one fighter using the mouse whell, it aint hard.

  • But it is hard to follow it.

  • zoom out from a distance, then zoom in on it, ocne you have it locked you can jsut zoom and follow it.

  • Can you take control of a particular vessel's actions in battle, or do you just amass some ships and duke it out? Looks like that'd be nutz weaving in and out of energy beams and payloads like that.

  • You can control the movement and fire orders of single ships and fleets (although you don't order around ships individually most of the time, except for capital ships).

  • Are there skirmish battles where you can choose the fleets fighting? It looks like an awesome game

  • For single player, there's ONLY skirmish battles. You can choose whichever race you want. One of the biggest gripes many people have with this game is a lack of a campaign.

  • hmmm thanks for the reply:) although watching Capital fleets shooting the crap out of eachother would be pretty cool, i think id get a little bored after a while :P this game also doesnt seem very tactical, just who has the right firepower where... or am i completely wrong

  • Whether or not there is a lot of tactical is kind of up to you. If you wish to micromanage your battles, you can, although it's not usually a good idea. The game does focus more on strategy, like deciding which planets to take, which technologies to research, etc. If you try to micromanage all your battles, you will quickly lose sight of the big picture, and lose the game. That said, there is something to be said for tactical decisions, like bombarding a planet while engaging their ships.

  • Can you save battles and watch them later in this game? I remember you couldn't in homeworld.

  • Yes you can. They are called replay files. You can also share them with your friends.

  • Cool man, thanks for the reply. I really like this feature and was annoyed with homeworld for leaving it out.

  • very nice vid

  • You know how sick that would be? God damn, that kind of fighting would be fucking amazing.

  • Joe is gay. That is all.

  • I'm not sayin too much becouse the video is cool man nice game, nice game :)

  • DAMN, all hell is breaking lose around that dude. That pilot is the definition of a BADASS!!

  • One of the best RTS games out!

  • Agreed

  • This is gorgeous: I especially love the moment at 1:46. Thanks for this, good stuff.

  • Wow, more of these vids need to be shot like this. I'd watch them all O_O

  • hell ya!

  • Holy fucking shit. What else can I say?

  • Oh yea btw try seeing what 30+ bomber squadrons looks like a cross between lag and one shot kills im currently playing on a hench made map

  • battle like that is a real adrenaline rush for a bomber pilot :P Laser beams here and here, missiled and pellets flying all over the place... ^^ I'd ask for a pay rise :P

  • i'd be shitting my pants if i was in that bomber in a battle like that O_O

  • in space isn't sounds, because it's vaacum

  • yeah, but its boring without sounds - so what that they have sounds and explosions!

  • (for those who are sarcastically impaired, don't read this)

According to boring real world physics, maybe. This game- like all others- adheres to the much more widely acknowledged Anime Vacuum Law, that is, that the lack of an atmosphere means sounds have less crap work through and are therefore louder. This also disproves the crackpot theory that sound moves through particles in an atmosphere.

  • I still rather play this with sound... If you want it to be realistic just press the mute button. Not that fun is it?

  • Exactly!

  • You sir, are also a "noob" as you so quaintly put it. There is no friction in space, as there is no air, therefore an object will continue in the same direction until another force is exerted on it. The space shuttle has wings because it has to return to earth, and has to FLY in an atmosphere, idiot. I suggest reading Newton's third law and Bernoulli's princple regarding flight physics before you calling other people out on subjects that you obviously know a clue about....fool..

  • hehehe nicely said agreed 100%

  • He was joking. As in, making fun of your retardation.

    Go away.

  • *puffs inhaler*

  • Oh right, so if there's no friction in space what keeps the planets orbiting the sun? Check. Mate. This is as close to realistic spaceflight as its possible to get in a computer simulation with this sentury's software and hardware limitations. Oh, and don't try and spam me with your friend's videos, I don't care to watch pseudo-intellectual nonsense. My friend Katie does psychics and as she might say: "you need to check your figures".

  • Yes, when two surfaces rub together in outer space, there will be friction. Friction is a surface effect and doesn't depend upon there being air. There is also a force like air resistance from the very sparse gas in space, but it will be very, very small, since space is a very good vacuum. So the forces of friction have no baring on the path of an object in a gravity neutral enviroment. Come back when you have some calculus based physics under your belt and lets talk.

  • glad someone told him :P

  • i have a calculus based penis under my belt, you wanna see how i talk?

  • Maybe, how big is it? lol

  • well its calculus based, so tiny :(

  • that was laughable

  • O.o.... In all my years of youtube surfing, I have never read a comment as stupid as "Oh right, so if there's no friction in space what keeps the planets orbiting the sun?". This just topped everything. Someone needs to put this kid back into first grade after slapping his ass silly. Holy stupidity.

  • You need to read up on trolls. Unless SpaceMedic was playing along as the straight man of an impromptu gag, No1RobLoweFan has won this epeen fight.

  • Kid, wtf are you talking about? Who gives a shit if it's a troll or not? The kid posted a completely retarded post. He is an idiot... all there is to it.

  • People give a shit that it's a troll because that is exactly what trolls do: They get people to give shits they otherwise wouldn't ever need to shit. If you think they are an idiot or think they are just trying to get shits, why give them shits? Just ignore them.

  • Jmbt.... You don't seem to realize that the kid above is dead serious. The comment said was more stupid then anything i've ever read. Troll or not, it deserves to be made fun of.

  • ...are you freakin' kidding me? Its a little thing called gravity. Friction exists in space but its a minimal force considering how empty space is.

  • Well ya in this game the closer you go to a planet the faster you go and if you go farther the slower you will go.

  • Im not sure how that is relevant to the friction of space. Although it makes sense to speed up as you move closer because the planets gravity can pull stuff in.

  • it's really basic science. centrifugal force keeps the planets from falling directly into the sun. And yeah, I know this is four months old, but that statement was just too dumb.

  • LPAR13, I know it's a month old, but you really shouldn't talk about fictitious forces. (Centrifugal force) What keeps the planets from moving in a straight line is a centripetal force from the sun. if it is weak, only deflection will occur. if it is strong there will be an orbit. If the right starting velocity, starting position, and star mass are present, there will be a collision.

  • agreed

  • The wings on space shuttles are only needed for atmospheric flight (when it prepares for landing on Earth). In space, propulsion is needed for attitude control

  • @No1RobLoweFan:

20 years old and still a utter retard.

There is no such thing as "Space drag", What do you think why asteroids, planets, and the spaceshuttle don't have any kind of propulsion? Well, the spaceshutte has, but it's shut off while in space. In space, if for example that bombers engines get shut down, it will just keep moving in a line.

  • my god so fucking epic

  • jesus how many cap ships were in that battle? looked like the screen was filled with Kol Battleships...

  • nice video i have the game but every time i start the game up my window crushes "blue screen =(

  • teh drivers.

  • Time to replace the 8mb graphics card......... Dont worry happens to the best of us xD

  • that guy is freakin awsome

  • I think this movie sealed the deal for me buying the game

  • me to...

  • Same here.

  • Love your video. Really intense. Check mine to see how a nuke feels like :)

  • That bomb pilot is an absolute Hero, didn't get shot down at all :P

  • This looks great!!

  • CHRIST ON A CRACKER thats amazing

  • christ on a cracker? Lolwut

  • holy boobs

  • wow thats impressive, cant wait to get this and turn up the graphics :)

    ty for the awesome video

  • The trail on the fighters is only that large because he's zoomed in so tight on them. If he was zoomed out more, it wouldn't be nearly as large

  • Woaw nice battle! I agree with MasterJediDude tho, the trail behind the fighters could have been a little smaller, other then that, this games increadible :D

  • 5/5 XD great video, by the waay what side/team was the bomber on?

  • its like the opening clip of revenge of the sith

  • cool battle

  • Nice work!

  • dam this game looks amazing

  • well done video! i would say this ranks as one of, if not the best sins video ive seen... then again this one has the advantage of being beta 3 :) keep em coming
