Cats do not kill as many birds as some people would like you to believe. The "statistics" of how many birds cats eat is the worst case scenario "if" every cat in America killed one bird per day year round. But that doesn't happen. I agree that they may get parasites, but I wouldn't want to confine a cat indoors, either. Maybe domestic cats are sort of "replacing" the native bobcats that used to live where people and housecats live now and are killing birds that a bobcat would've killed.

A dog owner can be very nice and not abuse the dog but at the same time does not know enough about the pack order to have a "safe" dog. The breed can make a difference as some dogs were bred for guarding, dog fighting etc.

A cat munching on a bird in your back yard is no different that a lion chowing down on a zebra on the savannah except for scale. It is highly probable that many house cats are European wildcats Felis Silvetris Silvestris or African wild cats Felis Silvestris Lybica and not actually domestic cat Felis Silvestris Catus.

Cats do not kill as many birds as some people would like you to believe. The "statistics" of how many birds cats eat is the worst case scenario "if" every cat in America killed one bird per day year round. But that doesn't happen. I agree that they may get parasites, but I wouldn't want to confine a cat indoors, either. Maybe domestic cats are sort of "replacing" the native bobcats that used to live where people and housecats live now and are killing birds that a bobcat would've killed.

Haha, my cat used to catch birds all the time, but rather than eat them it used to hide them behind my sisters desk where no one could see it, we found a small pile of dead robins and pigeons behind there after a week or two :p

By letting your cat eat wild animals, you're exposing him to parasites and disease, not to mention A) the risk of getting hit by a car, B) getting injured or killed by predators, dogs or other cats, and C) cruel people who will shoot / poison cats.

My cats kill mice and birds all the time. I often find mouse tails and bird wings around the house from my cats bringing their kills inside, and it's starting to get annoying. They never eat the whole thing, noooo, always have to leave a limb or appendage for their master! :P

Yes, but even the most friendly of dogs have been known to attack visitors and mailmen. I know someone who has a very very sweet German Shepherd and he attacks the water delivery guy. My cousin used to have a Pit Bull but was put down after biting a young child and has given his owner a nasty bite as well. I do not believe that certain breeds are more vicious, but I do believe that even dogs can snap or feel the strong need to protect their owners and are much deadlier in consequence.

A dog needs to be trained properly, Saying that a dog is friendly isn't enough. He needs to know his place in the pack, e.g. a dog that thinks he is the alpha of the pack will make his own decisions, a dog that thinks he is the enforcer will feel the need to punish those who seem to disrespect the alpha's rules, i.e protecting the home from strangers or punishing children for what he thinks is misbehaving!

A dog owner can be very nice and not abuse the dog but at the same time does not know enough about the pack order to have a "safe" dog. The breed can make a difference as some dogs were bred for guarding, dog fighting etc.

Well then I have nothing to worry about. I luv my dogs and when they misbehave they get "mini spankings" with their leash and it stops. So they understand their place, but are gentle too. Will bark if someones at the door, but don't go nipping everyone that walks by. Jack Russel Terrier, Pit Bull, Pit Bull/Catahoula Leapard Dog, and presently a Scnauzer. <3 I won't get into cats and rats. xD
