You should beat the elite four (I think) and it will be easier if you do as your pokemon will be nearer to the right level to battle him! But you don't need to use the Azure flute it should automatically activate when you get to spear pillar!

suggested catching method for anyone who wants it to be easier. Areceus counts as in cave, make sure it's night time, then dusks balls will have more chance than ultra balls/ plus sleep works better than paralyzing

You people can find Arceus at the top of Mt. Coronet. The place where you caught Palkia or Dialga. You need to put the code in your ar and go to the pokemart, pick it up. Then just simply go to the top of Mt. Coronet and you can play the Azure Flute which you got from the pokemart to get to Arceus.

Yay, the spear pillar's model changes when you are on Beginning Dimension. If you pay attention you'll see, use AR to go there and you'll see that spear pillar is different and has diferrent perspective. If you use walk through walls, the perspective wont look good when below of the bridge because the camera is too vertical.
