Just a suggestion, have you checked all your rubber fuel lines? and the fuel tank pick-up module for rot? These can cause a very annoying air leak and cause the engine to lose it's prime causing hard starts. What makes the air leak annoying to find is it won't leak fuel. I plan on replacing all of mine soon, my truck cranks just like yours, although I use a lil pedal to save the starter some. I like your choke cable setup, thanks for posting about that, take care.
It was fine, changed the timing and bam, so I don't think it coulda sprung an air leak right then. I did find out cycling the grids twice makes it start a lot easier. I just need to rig up a blow torch for the intake lol.
you need to idle it up. my timing is at 16.5 and starts right up in the cold. as for your high idle, idle it up to about 1200 rps to keep egt's above 300* and to warm the engine
Like a choke cable I got from napa tied to the pedal so I can idle it up. When it's cold 12v's idle so low that they barely run, mine will actually just die.
woow for a cold start it started right up no drid heater at all nice....hey hows ur dodge powerwagon with the detroit doin u gotta get another video of that truck on here hope ya still got it
What's with that little pulley thing by the steering wheel that u had your hand on jw

@slipknot12390 It's a choke cable thing that is connected to the throttle so I can idle it up and not have to hold the pedal.

what's the thing you pull out?
jan585 1 year ago
@jan585 It's connected to the pedal so I have a way to idle it up and walk away.

@ISXX Ah so like a handpedal on a tractor?

@jan585 Sorta. It's a piece of crap though, I am going to try and get a solenoid.

@ISXX that would be cool. mini propane tank and a bbq ignitor. hide the propane in the cab, wire an ignitor in with the grids!

I cycled the grids.. The advanced timing makes it start like crap. Still got the power wagon, waiting for warmer days.
