If I invent something, get a patent for it, which means it has been determined to be new and useful, I only get 10 years to claim ownership. After that it's free for all to copy and use. Regardless of whether it's outdated or not. RIAA, however, gets to keep copyrights indefinitely even for crap like Jay-z, Britney Spears etc.
Music piracy and illegal downloading is anti-semitic. People are downloading music to hurt the Jewish media bosses and take away their profits. If you download music illegally, you are a Nazi criminal!
Look theres another way.. Actually theres a new format about to emerge, one that will change music forever, the (3i) format. which I am not at liberty to discuss. But I tell you this, your going to see a change, The 6 companies who are creating this are keeping it under wraps to avoid and aquisition, the way that it works is sick! All the artist will basically force the industry to do it because its what they want, youll see
This is exactly what I was thinking. The RIAA makes more money off a single lawsuit than they do off a million CDs. So basically they screw us until we stop paying and then they take all our money. I hate those greedy corporate bastards.
i dont see how the riaa sleeps at night knowing that they're destroying peoples lives because they didn't shell out $10 for an album. hopefully 30 years in the future the riaa will be a bad memory long forgotten.
The record companies that are clutching to an older market system need to realise they are obsolete.
They have no business being the middleman anymore. Technology has made these companies obsolete. It is an artist-centric system - no middleman required.
Many artists have made the new system work very well for them by relying on live shows through touring to generate revenue through merchandise like t-shirts.
Recordings via MP3s are nearly the advertisement for the artist, offered for free in a digitally viral manner. It's a way to generate a following and establish an artistic brand.
The record companies need to save their final few cents and stop lobbying the NZ government.
They have hampered creativity for far too long. They should invest in venues, because that is where artist-based revenue will be generated from here on out.
my theory on the RIAA can't sue no more because someone was able to prove that suing was a fraud to gain money for the government and the isp gets a cut of that money so all this suing is just to get richer
I completely agree...The artists get only like 20% of the album sales. Once the RIAA and the big labels go bust the music industry will be a lot better off.
PLEASE DONT READ THIS!In 1971 a guy named Kyle an his girlfriend Emily were in side a house that was said to claim peoples lives if they entered the house. The next morning a guy named Alex saw fingernail marks on the door.if you dont post this to 5 videos, youll be getting a visit from Kyle and Emily tonight!WARNING:this has been proved to be real,i value my life!whoever reads this may God be with you! i think paying that much for RIAA, if i was incharge id just make them for pay for the song not 9k or w/e for each song. and maybe a dime for each pirated song :o.
The RIAA is supposed to represent the musicians, and it seems they only represent themselves. When musicians do give away their music to promote themselves, I know it pisses them off. But the entire reason the major labels are doing horrible and CD sales have been steadily dropping since 2000 is because theres no way to stop digital sharing.
if you hold that idea to be true- you are goddamn motherfucking moron.
Artists make their money on the tour, not the cd- and those jew bastards need to start paying the artists on the CD as well- and stop confusing stupid peasants like yourself into supporting their nazi attacks.
lol Who are to judge, tree hugger! Soundscan statistics show that record sales were up when music was free & legal. Look it up & see for yourself. There has been cases of this before, such as when the VCR recorder first came out, movie industries feared they were going to lose revenue.
Its because of people s like you why the music industry in suffering so much. RIAA only shot themselves in the foot when they issued that law.
Now its much harder for musician & composers to get paid for the music. I wonder what's next huh. Are people going to have to pay for downloading .jpg & .gif images online.
FYI: The majority of money artists make are from advertisement, concerts, & merchandise. Only 8% comes from record sales. When you buy a song, your paying the record label.
Next time do some research before you post something with me nazi-activist!
You just contradicted yourself like crazy, man. You originally said, "If you support legalizing downloading music for free, then you are the problem!" and your last posts show that only 8% of what an artist gets paid is from record sales.
Then who really cares? Not that I really see either viewpoint as completely 100% correct, but if you are so against downloading but don't think paying helps artists... what is your point?
1. 1920s - When the radio was 1st invented, companies feared they were going to lose revenue because people were listening to the artists' tracks without paying/buying the record. By the time, the radio was new to the recording industry---a law was then passed which made it illegal to have possession of a radio. Congress later repelled that law around the 1950s after WWII.
It was new to the industry & the MPAA feared they were going to lose revenue, since people could record any thing on TV & watch it at anytime. A law was later passed which made it illegal to hold possession of a VCR recorder. Congress later repelled that la in the 1980s after seeing increase in market sales & after Ronald Reagean increased the value of the dollar.
3. Around 1990s - Some software programmers created "freeware"
Freeware was new software (that was & still is free)at the time. Large major companies feared they were going to lose revenue due to small companies offering similar software, but at a free cost. This case did not last very long, since not many Internet users were familiar with freeware, as a result, the bill & the case was later dismissed.
Copyright is good, but when there is too much of it, it hurts the economy. The issue on downloading music is no different from these past cases.
I'm buying music right now & I'm not enjoying it one little bit b/c of the RIAA. I honestly hate paying a $1.07 per song on iTunes! If anyone is to blame for low record sales, its the RIAA.
So you mean... this is history repeating it's self? Oh man!... o_o
Money, money, money...these people make me sick, and the recording companies are not even the ones who are singing or producing music but yet they make all the money, it's shear greed!
Who really cares? The costumers really care. And from what I have seen, you either support the RIAA, or you don't. I don't support them because they have only worsen matters for the entertainment indusrty. Heck! Canada's record sales are higher than the US, but that's because their government legaized P2P file sharing. Users only pay 1 monthly fee & can download as many songs as they want!
Your enthusiasum can't save you from my research & statistics!
Record sales were up in those days because not as many people had computers. in 2000 CD sales peaked and have been steadily dropping every year since, because more and more people get computers every year. The indies are organizing and going into a pretty hostile takeover of most of the market because people are open to anything they can find online now, instead of what the media gets from the major labels. So, the majors are on their way out, its all gunna be paid for by advertising soon.
I hope so because I find paying for music a stupid idea But your wrong: P2P was invented in 1992 (that's the same year dailup was invented). The main reason why record sales dropped was because Labels did not sell as much singles as they did in 2001 When you sell less singles, your going to get less money Many music fans downloaded a couple songs & if they liked the album, they bought it The RIAA is just blaming everyone but themselves for their losses in revenue Now their blaming radio.
@DJBrokenHigh I'm with you. Downloading it for free is wrong. If you pay for a legit copy, then I think you have a right to do whatever you want with it. But for personal usage only.
