  • Sorry, I dont understand quite well yet. FUN is a noun but it can be used as an adjective too so I dont know when to use it.

For example, why do you say ENGLISh'S FUN isntead of "english is funny"?

And do I say "He's so fun" or "He's so funny2?

I'm confused, I tend to always use FUNNY to keep on the safe side :x

  • I wonder why I can see these words in the title:

One Minute Magyar | Learn Magyar

My 'problem' is: it is understandable for me :-))) 'Magyar' means 'Hungarian' in Hungarian :-)))

  • Hi Rita,

I've been busy creating a new video, so haven't had time to reply to everyone as quickly as I like.

When I was a child I collected stamps. Many of these stamps had Magyar Polska on them, or something similar. I guess from your comment that they were Hungarian.

    Thanks for your comments.

    Richard

  • That was "Magyar Posta" :-) on your stamps originating from Hungary :-)))

  • Interesting.

    érdekes.

    All the best,

    Richard

  • Yes :-))))

The 'POLSKA' you wrote in your previous comment means Poland in Polish language :-)))

  • now, after I have listened to the other one video with "one minute" and I've just been listening to this one, the last one seems to be very slooow to me :D hihi

it's funny, don't you think so?

I mean every person is different and has got different preferences - and thanks to that the whole world is so great :)))

    best wishes!

  • Hi Mary,

English is fun, isn't it. The funny thing is, I have to create lessons for everyone. I'll have a lot of fun creating some new ones for you - some will be fast and furious; some will be slow and serene. As you say, everyone has different tastes and different needs. It'd be a funny old world if we were all exactly the same, and I doubt if we'd have half the fun we do have meeting new and interesting people like yourself from all over the world.

    Best wishes and keep watching,

    Richard

  • Hi Richard!

I agree with you completely ;)

    take care you too!

Im looking forward to watching your new videos :):):)

  • I like this video. It has the right speed and what is more, you have chosen a very good topic.

  • Thanks for these kind words. I'm glad you liked it.

    Best wishes,

    Richard

  • the rides are fun

so is it wrong if I say: the rides are funny?

  • Hi Maria,

You can say, The rides are funny, but it means that there is something odd or strange about them. If you mean that you enjoyed the ride, you should say, the rides are fun. Or you can say, Those are funny rides. This means that the rides made you laugh.

If you say, He's a funny man, you might need to ask, Is he funny ha ha, or funny peculiar? i.e. does he make you laugh, or is is a bit strange?

The differences in meaning are subtle.

    Best wishes,

    Richard

  • thanks Richard :D
