The problem was that as with almost all games that came after this was that they deliberatly ruined it by taking the random map away so that they could sell more games. Well that didn't work with me because I never bought another version of settlers after settlers 2. Shame really :( It could have developed very nicly otherwise

I dont know for Amiga, but you can probablly play this game with dosbox or WinUAE which are emulators for old dos or Amiga computers. For Winuae you have to find also the right kickstart disk and set some settings right. I play Jim Power from old amiga on my PC via WinUAE wit gamepad. Also tried many other games and it works. You can find Torrent downloads of compilation of classic games on torrent download sites for DOS and AMIGA. If you want to burn it to 3,5" discs you probably have to...

I have played this at some point every day since 1993 and have never even tried the quests. I found this certain level where the map is awesome. 4167-3338-6873-4313 world size 3, its a perfect world to start and in one place you can have ALL the 4 types of ores just from placing your first castle and a lot of castle building spots. Awesome game and fun as I can leave the computer to sort the kids out and not worry!

I can remember getting a copy of this from my mate and sitting for hours writing out the protection code from the instruction manual. I only copied down half of it and had to keep reloading until it asked for a code that I had. Was worth it though!

Such a win game. Countless hours of youth spent with this. Not Amiga version thou, the music is not original :) Settlers 2 was just as good and maybe better, 3 and 4 was ok enough, but doesnt have the quality 1 and 2 got. Thought this game had died, but time to check out 6 and 7 :p

@DerEchteSenf even when they did they couldn't read Amiga disks anyway, the Amiga disks drive were able to read PC disks but not the other way round. Something todo with the Amiga hardware being better... 1780kb on a HD disk instead of the PCs 1440kb? Thanks very much. ;-)

I was saddened that they never had this music in Settlers 2 or the 3d remake of Settlers 2, as S2 is basically the original one taken to perfection.

I believe they had the beginning of the tune as one music track you could pick in the original Settlers 2, but not the whole thing.

just simply one of those game tunes that will go down as eternal classics. i've heard some great tunes over my life of gaming and from this stand can't honestly name any game theme that you couldn't actually listen for 50 hours straight without getting tired from it

it just perfectly collides with the actual gameplay. it blends so well with the background. a game all about simple fun. a groundbreak at it's time and it still can practically beat the living shit out of 99% of the games today ^^

Do you know what indicates the red line in the starting menu? There are 3 lines blue, green and red. I know that blue indicates starting quantity of goods, greed amount of pc inteligence but I do not have any clue for the red line. Can you or someone know what that red line controls?

Hmm I got this game when I bought a second hand Amiga 1200, but it had no manual. I really couldn't work out what to do. I built a few things and that was it!

First off you needed wood and stone to make buildings. The aim was to expand your land and destroy the enemy. With the wood and stone you could make garrisons to expand land. With mines you can get gold, iron and coal. With those you can make tools and weapons. The gold is used to buy better weapons and armour. The more arms produced the larger the army. You need to feed the miners with fish, pork, bread etc. That's the basics, its a classic game
