  • I've only ever seen John Mahoney in comedic roles (including Frasier and other films he's been in). He's fabulous in this

  • I still watch Frasier. John Mahony was great in it!

  • John Mahoney is one of the best, yet unknown actors ever. He really dont get the respect he deserves.

  • You say that Walter is testing Paul. Is it possible for someone to voluntarily induce a panic attack in themselves???

I am enjoying your analysis of "In Treatment" and your other videos as well. Thank you!

  • It depends on what you mean by voluntary. We ordinarily think of a voluntary act as one that is consciously chosen. In that sense, no, it is not possible for someone to consciously induce a panic attack. Patients, however, come to therapy with unconscious plans in mind about how to elicit from the therapist what they need to get better. They execute those plans using unconscious voluntary acts that could take the form of conscious attitudes, feelings, and neurotic symptoms like panic attacks.
