  • Dobson disgusts me. Im doing a speech for my speech class on this subject. This is something I am extremely passionate about I am straight but so many of my friends arent and want to have and love children despite their orientation

  • I'm guess that Dobson is a closet case. So many who speak so loudly

against same sex relationships tend to be. Dobsob, come on out of the

closet, stand alongside recent outed person "Professor George Alan Rekers,

and learn to enjoy life, instead of making it so damned difficult for gay

    people.

  • Bible or no bible, I'm proud to live in a country where the CONSTITUTION is our supreme law. I don't desire sex with my own gender, but I quite love shellfish.

  • Might be what they taught you in school, but getting the higher ups to adhere to it these days is a challenge. The constitution is what keeps us from degenerating into a pure mob rule democracy. Ignore it, and we lose our republic.

  • isn't "mob rule democracy" anarchy? I think we're rather descending into olegarchy, not anarchy though.

  • Not quite. Anarchy is the complete lack of any government. I don't think it's actually attainable. As soon as a group formed and started asserting its will on everyone else, that would be a form of government.

Mob rule democracy is simply government which is ruled by popular vote, without regard and to the detriment of minorities.

  • I don't believe it's selfish, to eat defenseless shellfish.

  • @burntflybog

Well, the Bible does forbid the eating of shellfish.

  • Amazing even the scientists have been able to prove the Bible to be true. If you believe there is no God, you better be right because there are no atheists in "you know where"

  • Mr Dobson is NOT a Preacher NOR a Doctor.

  • too bad the we can't prove this to the believers.

  • @rextrek well, he technically is a doctor... however, a kooky one at that, and a disgrace to the scientific community.

  • The point here is that anti-gay, pro-bigotry groups will go to any means to promote their anti-gay agenda. The research showed that children do better with a father and a mother, instead of just a mother or just a father. The research did not show that children do not do just as well with TWO same-sex parents. Since anti-gay activists can find so little research to back up their point of view, they must resort to twisting and distortion.

  • Stephens-

Pruetts research says that a SINGLE parent would affect the wellbeing of the child. Dobson used this to say that two mothers would be a bad fit. However, the role of the father was solely for love, which could be easily replaced with another mother. He obviously misinterpreted this information. Pruett isnt just an old grandfather, he's a professor at Yale.

  • In this video, Pruett claims to have sent a letter to Dobson, requesting a dialoge, but receiving no response. Yet, just a minute later in the video he says that Dobson DID respond by "calling his request 'preposterous'" now - which is it? Both statements obviously cannot be true. Just because a kindly, grandfatherly person speaks calmly and reasonably about an issue does not make WHAT he says the truth. We need to be more discerning, people. (and didja notice who put this video together?)

  • I'm sorry - somehow I missed in this video exactly where Dr. Dobson misrepresented Dr. Pruett's research. Dr. Pruett did the research - he wrote the book - Dr. Dobson quoted from it in exactly the same way that Dr. Pruett himself quotes from it in this video! Where is the misreprensentation? I understand that Dr. Pruett does not want to be placed in the same category as Dobson. But nowhere does this video indicate where Dobson misrepresented anything. It's just not there.

  • To call Dr. James Dobson "evil" just shows how uninformed and closed minded some people are. I have observed his works for the last 30 years. He is a man with solid Christian values and the highest integrity. The truth is Time magazine asked Dr. Dobson (Ph.D. in child development by the way) to write the commentary. There is no hatred in this article. The truth is that he is and has been one of the best pro family and children's rights activist in this country. Oops, am I name calling?

  • Christ commands us to treat others as we want to be treated. Working to enact laws to prevent gay people from marrying; working to stop gay people from adopting children; working to prevent gay people from serving their country in the military; and setting up groups which seek to eradicate gay people by "changing" their sexual orientation is NOT treating others as we would want to be treated. Rather than demonstrating "solid Christian values," this behavior violates Christ's commandment.

  • I find it odd that Dr. Pruett says that fathers are "vitally important" in child development but doesn't see that as at all relevant to lesbian parenting. For Dobson to show obvious public policy implications of his research isn't to misrepresent his research in any way. It also doesn't mean Dobson hates homosexuals, which he doesn't.

  • Very nice video. We need more publicity on the lies and distortions that people like Dobson continue to spew. The more people that see videos like this one, the better.

  • I believe this type of misinformation is a major reason the public is so homophobic. We scare them and obviously threaten their comfort zone.

  • Important and well put together statement of truth.

    But please, drop the guitar.

  • We've had a century of hatred directed against gays and others, and much of the distress has come from the hostility of Dobson, et. al., who cling desperately to such rigid views, which they hold selfishly in order to give themselves comfort from the truth.

  • Dobson is a very evil (even if he doesn't realize it) man.

  • Dr. Dobson is a good and wholesome man. I'm so thankful that his organizaiton exists. He will continue to receive millions in support from me and my family. Focus on the Family is such a wonderful influence.

  • Are you listening to the video and the testimony? James Dobson may think he is doing the right thing but he is doing it at the expense of other people lives and dignity, the truth he spreads / the evidence he uses is misrepresented in his work in his attempt to distort and manipulate beliefs.

I am glad you have your beliefs but I am sorry your money goes to support misinformation.

  • What is your factual basis for Dobson's supposed "misinformation?" People need to grow spines in this country. "Expense of other people lives and dignity?" How about the fact that homosexuality is just plain morally wrong according to the only Authority that matters, God Himself?

  • You can't just take a line or two from someone's extensive research and use it for purposes that they did not intend. It is Mr. Pruett's research, not Dr. Dobson's. He may have quoted the "words" properly, but that is not the same thing as quoting the theories and work properly. Of course its not FOF's first time.

  • People need to stop believing in mythology books (like the old testament) not just in USA but in every other country!

  • If you can provide real, actual proof that the Old Testament (in God's Holy, perfect, and God-breathed scriptures) is mythology, then I will be forced to apologize for misleading people to Jesus Christ.

  • 1.The mistakes about the origin of man and the creation of the universe, the form of the universe etc.2.The contradictions.3.The fact that there are thousands of other mythologies and religions around.4.The fact that accourding to the Bible Jehova picks a nation (the jews)as his beloved.A universal god would not side with a particular nation.

If the Bible speaks the truth...why so many mistakes and contradictions? If there is only one god why there are so many other religions around?

  • What mistakes in the origin of man? What "contradictions?" The fact that there are thousands of other religions and mythologies around the world is easy to explain: satan. Jesus prayed in the garden of Gethsemane that mankind would be of united (of one mind) because He knew this would be a potential problem. Thanks for validating Jesus Himself. The Bible also states, "Narrow is the path (to Heaven) and few will find it." Not my words. Read "The Case for Christ" by Lee Strobel.

  • Answer me this: You played "telephone" when you were little didn't you? You know the game where someone whispers something to another and by the time the message is repeated four or five times, it is completely different than the original message. How is it then, that normal humans, inspired by God Himself, could have written the Bible over a period of 1600+ years and not have one factual contradiction? Some game of telephone, huh?

  • Do a bit of in depth research, and soon will you find the skillful manipulations in all religions + scriptures. A good example is the meeting at Nicea circa 325 CE (AD), where mainly two groups of early Christians argued about the nature of Christ. One group believed him to be God, the other believed him to be a man (as a God cannot be born from a human). They couldn't agree & split into Catholics who believed Christ to be God--and wrote it in their Bible, & Orthodox Christians who did not.

  • This answer makes no sense. From a logical point of view, Christianity cannot be the "only" true path. In fact, Christians only make up 1/3 of the world's religions. Most Christians believe you have to be a Christian to go to "heaven". What loving Father in Heaven would leave out 2/3 of his children? Christians do no have a monopoly on God.
