I have a suspicion that everyone who says they like this song are singers. This is incredibly boring for the instrumentalists (though they won't tell you because they don't want your praise band to be disharmonious). The lyrics pretty much re-iterate what many other Christian songs talk about - it isn't a new subject. There isn't even originality in the rhyming or figurative language; there are many cliches. (Raging fire, blazing sun, etc...) What is new here?
@AwfulPun wow youre terrible. i do EVERYTHING in music and come on.. hearing this in church, it is very powerful! doesnt have to be a complicated song, because the average person wont tell the different between complicated and simple.... it will just seem easier to sing
@ibanezbassist7628 If you believe it is powerful, that is your opinion, and that's great because these songs are definitely easy to pick up and play. I just think many Christian artists settle for the status quo. I recently did a performance where we tried something new and complicated along with stuff like this song, and many people came and said how much they liked the complicated one. Everyone was acting bored during the other worship songs. I'm all for being innovative with worship.
is it really about the complexity of the song? worship music wasn't intended to entertain us but God alone. even the simplest of songs can be the most moving. isn't simplicity a gift, anyways? if all the songs were more complicated then the group that could play would shrink. i do agree w/ u tho, i do like more complex music. but i can always appreciate music that is genuinely filled w/ worship. ps: i LOVE ibanez :D
@AwfulPun I'm sorry but at the end of the day, what's meant to be a 'worship' song is just that... worship. So really it's not about what's new and what's interesting etc (even though that's always welcome because we don't want to fall into a sense of complacency where we don't show any sign of spiritual maturity and development), it's about giving God the glory more than anything else. Its the spirit behind the words and not the words that God is looking at and pleased with.
@AwfulPun When the sun rises and sets each day God says "Do it again!" Does He ever get bored of it? Revelation 4:8 "Each of the four living creatures had six wings and was covered with eyes all around, even under his wings. Day and night they never stop saying: "Holy, holy, holy is the Lord God Almighty, who was, and is, and is to come."
hi, i am also a younger teen and on my praise team. i saw this and some of the songs that we use are reign in me, every move i make, get down, two is always better than one, and some more but i cant think of them right now but if i do ill send them to u.
Im from a newly formed youth praise team, the first in our church, we are extremely young and unexperienced, i ask that a few people here would just reply to this message or better yet, message me, a list of some good praise songs, and praise song tips, like good structures for songs, guitar tabs, things that have worked for them in the past. We are younge but are eager, please guide us unto greater praise.
once you know how to sing, sing to god with all you've got. my favourite praise bands are usually those unexperienced and eager ones. the playing skills, even the songs don't mean that much
