Actually, the larva (brood) are never in the honey part of the hive. Bee's keep their food storage (honey) comb separate from their brood raising comb. So, there was never larva in those comb.

There are ways to keep the larva out of the honeycombs, and bees make wax through glands in their bodies... they're not really that creepy.

@andrewsengineering Bee's also don't put larva in honey combs. They can make a brood comb a honey comb, but they don't put honey and brood in the same comb at the same time.
