It's alright, it's common misconception. Anime nowadays, you can't really tell their age anymore, you have to actually look up character bio.. I hope you're enjoying Lucky Star ^_^

The show is very popular in Japan, to the point that in Saitama prefecture, the Hiiragi residence is listed down as it's citizens. (As in Kagami and Tsukasa's family)

It's explained in one of the episode. The purpose of Kagami's name got something to do with family, because the mirror is round and stuff.... some Asian philosophy that recognized round as a "whole". A bit like how western people think "green" is for envy, "red" is for rage, "black" is for death and "white" for innocence.

If I want my son to be a hot blooded man, I'd probably name him "Red", if I want my kid to be smart, I'd name him "Blue"

you often find Japanese that got "ichi" which means one, and "Ji" which means 2 in their name. Which is actually the order of their child.

My understandings... Asian spent more time trying to give their kids a good name compare to western people. I mean, how many of us understand the meaning of "Chris", or "Michael", or "James", do our parent even know what it means?
