  • I got to get me that brutus glass

  • 69 cents? That won't even get you a meatless chicken bone nowdays!

  • I collect glasses from these things and have some from as far back as the 80s. I love these novelty items.

  • wow the glasses that you would see at your local flee market

  • I wish I could find the Popeyes commercial with Franco Harris.

  • PoP Peyes?

  • my grandma freaks out when I tell her how much it costs for a her shy bar at the store. has anyone noticed that candy now a days is smaller or thinner than it was before. stupid half centimeter hershey bar.

  • @myrosey99 everything nowadays is smaller and more expensive less bang for the buck

  • Sadly, they closed down the Popeye's chicken in my hometown. We have to drive to El Paso to go to Popeye's.

  • @pyrogyra72 I know how you feel...I live in Indiana and all of ours are dropping off the map too. There used to be one 20 min. from where I live and was there for as long as I can remember. Now I have to drive 2 and a half hours if I want my cajun fried heaven!

  • @MrDroe360 What sucks about all this is that they brought back the fried crawfish! I remember going across the street to Popeye's, buying a crawfish po' boy, catching the bus, then eating it in the break room before I had to clock in. Everyone who walked in would say "Woah, what smells so good?" Those were the days.

  • funny that they don't use the characters from the cartoon/strip anymore

  • @miamivicepastels83 When the Popeyes chain originated - the animated characters were used until the early 1980s when they transitioned to their Cajun theme - still in used to this present day...

  • @montrosepatriot i remember getting this little coin that was good for a free something or other from popeye's chicken in the 80s but being a kid i kept it cause it looked like a gold coin. i still have it. anyway there was a picture of popeye on it and his head was in a star. interesting to know though

  • poppy chicken is the shiznit loool

  • @thebitchulovtohate Popeyes used to be the schiznit back in the '70s, 80s and 90s until street gangs raided the place and started having brawls. It's totally targeted to the African-American community now.

  • I hate it when the manager couldn't pay the mortgage. Our Popeye's are gone! It looks more like a ghost corner!

  • LOVE DAT CHICKEN FROM POPEYE'S

  • I LOVE YEW POPEYES

  • Actually, Popeye's Chicken is NOT named after the sailor man. It's named after the character of Popeye Doyle from the movie, the French Connection. Somehow, I don't think a cop or a sailor can effectively sell fried chicken.

  • 69 cents? ill could grab 4 of those things

  • @DavidB05

Back then, 69 cents back then was probably like the equivalent of about 5 bucks today...

  • @Aerodeth lol we all know that no joke you could buy a month worth of food for less then 50 bucks in the 70's

  • better than 2011

  • Brutus I thought his name was bluto or bruto

  • Before they'd lost their namesake mascot.

  • brutus is a douche.

  • @KOTAmusic1992 lol your comment made my day

  • 69 cents!!!! sheeit....

  • great commercial to celebrate Black History Month. Martin Luther King jr would be proud.

  • @Amoraklin2 Great commercial for Black History month?

    This commercial's whiter than Pokemon!

    Unless you were stereotyping :\

  • This was around the time we first starting eating at Popeyes. Remember these commercials very well :)

  • 69 cents ??? makes tax seem like no big deal at all -___-

  • Ive never seen that many white people in a Popeyes .

  • @hanksnow82 Obviously you have never been to Louisiana, EVERYONE loves Popeyes.

  • @thomasward00 hey i dont and i live there its terrible

  • 69 cent soft drinks? I wish we had a Popeyes in my hometown in 1979!

  • 69 cent soft drink!

  • OMG! That women had huge lips. LOL. /(^_^)\

  • So that's how Brutus The Barber Beefcake got his ring name!

  • His name is Bluto.

  • where can i get these glasses!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lmao, "Brutus Glass thru Sunday." I guess they weren't too excited about selling the villain from Popeye. Probably didn't think people would want it.

  • They actually had the decentcy to make a Swee' Pea glass.XD

  • back when Popeyes used Popeye the Sailorman's likeness. weird how Popeyes and Popeye the sailor is two different things

  • her hair is weird.

  • @hippee77 the hair in the 1970's for women had to be either flaired or strait down. with a littl curl at the bottom.

  • One of the earliest Popeye's chicken commercials!

  • That looks like Bayn Johnson ["Kelly" from The Electric Company from 1973 to 1975] if I'm not mistaken!!

  • That was 30 Years ago!!!!!
