you don't kinow much about the history of Christianity. The Puritans aka the first colonists,FORBID the celebration of Christmas....because December 25th is not mentioned in the Bible. The Birth of Christ is mentioned but no-date.And also Christmas trees pre-date Christianity but i have no problem with Christians using December 25th to celebrate..but that was the Roman Saturnalia(mid winter's Solstice)..so MerryChristmas but it isn't your-day. You borrowed it.Ignorance is not bliss its ignorance.
@cimerax hello sir i wish i could say this in person but i cant but i thought u were a christian or something like that oh well i have down syndrome i guess so its all good
Do you have to be Irish to celebrate St Patrick's Day? Do you have to believe St Patrick really drove all snakes out of Ireland (even though all evidence points to there being no snakes there to begin with) to dress in green and have a good time? Besides, few atheists are actually offended at "Merry Christmas" and "Happy Holidays" is inclusive to all people, including Jews, Muslims, Pagans, etc.
Christmas was originally a pagan holiday, it has pagan traditions, it's been commercialized like mad, and jesus was probably born in the spring anyways. It's so popular it's become a cultural tradition, like cake on your birthday. Atheists don't need to believe jesus was the son of a god to celebrate and spend time with family. Halloween is pagan in origin; do people really believe they are scaring off evil spirits (as in the origin of the holiday) or is it just a fun even.
You have to respect ALL RELIGIONS AND ALL FAITHS AND ALL CULTURES... EVEN ATHEISTS!!!! THAT IS WHAT YOU SHOULD TEACH YOUR CHILDREN. THINK BEFORE U SPEAK.. You should be HAPPY Atheists are CELEBRATING YOUR HOLIDAY. Your constantly trying to SPREAD YOUR FAITH, but when someone celebrates the togetherness and peacefulness and joy of the holiday season you crucify them? you should really think about what your teaching your children.
jezuz freek, i am speaking from a completely honest and unbiased stand point. You do not sound genuine AT ALL in this video. You sound like a robot playing a recording.
Oh, and if an Atheist get's offended at Merry Christmas, hes a prick. Same as the Christian that gets offended at Happy Holidays. It's a peaceful phrase, either way. Quit being pedantic.
Personally I don't celebrate Xmas, I'm a Scotsman, and Hogmanay has always been a far bigger deal for us. But if other Atheist choose to why not? YOU celebrate it and yet originally it wasn't a christian holiday. I also noted your daughters response was 'it may upset Atheists' not 'it may upset non-christians' interesting, but I'll put that down to your brain-washing, sorry 'religious training' I mean LOL
The version of Xmas atheist follow includes a funny fake santa claus an a grinch, we do gifts to, if you can rob ideas from pagans then stop bitching cause we stole some ideas for our secular holiday Xmas!. There your question is answered, a long winded video for a short question, what a waste of space.
Dude you're awesome. I just started watching your videos and it's awesome to see someone getting on youtube to share the Good News. You've inspired me to do something similar. I subbed.
Mans capacity to show good will towards other human beings. That is what I see when people give gifts and spend time with those close to them. It is my insentive to go out and spend some extra money in my friends and family. As for "happy holidays", you must remember that there are Muslims, Jews, hindus, Zoroastrians, and Shintos who also may have traditions/holidays falling around the same time as christmas. I really hope you see this, jesusfreak, and I hope I can encourage you to try and see
Because that is all the day has become,a day to be with family and friends. The funny thing is,I have a huge family gathering on Christmas, and I am the only Atheist in my family, and they are all Christians. And from when I get there,to when I leave,I never hear or see anything referring to Jesus or god anywhere. Sorry but I think Santa and bad holiday movies have taken over your religious Holiday. Same thing at the other parties I end up at later, with friends and their families.
It seems apparent that you don't know the history of the holiday. It's been a pagan holiday for over 10,000 years and it's only been called christmas since 490 CE by pope John Sixtus III. He started the first "Christ Mass" on December 25th which was the very day of the Winter Solstice. I understand that you wouldn't want to teach your daughter this because it would show her the falseness of the holiday as it relates to your faith. I do recommend honesty however so I hope you do tell her this.
LOL. I am an atheist and when people say merry Christmas I say it back! When people say god bless you to me I say it back. Atheists have there own beliefs and Christians have there's.

first mistake here is that you consider atheism a belief (faith). when it is in fact a non belief. i myself do believe in what religions refer to as god, but totally disregard religion. funny thing bout that is, i actually have christian friends that, once turned onto the actual truth of christmas refuse to celebrate it. its funny what a little knowledge can do.
Also, I would hope that, you respect the values of atheists as much as you claim to respect those of muslims in the example you gave. You know that everyone is entitled to their own beliefs, and I would ask that you talked to your daughter and encourage her to seek knowledge and look into the facts, as she grows up in order to make an educated opinion on subjects, rather than take your word for everything. If she keeps to the christian faith then fair play but I hope you don't force it upon her.
As much as I'd like too, I'm not going to attack you as a person in this comment, but I'd just like to question the fact that surely you must have a deeper understanding of why people say happy holidays, rather than the ridiculous statement (no offence to your daughter) which was made saying that it is to avoid offending atheists. Its to wish people the best during the time period over which there are a series of holiday events including Christmas, thanksgiving, and new year. You must know that.
The Elsewhere celebrates Christmas as a celebration of family and friends. We enjoy the meals, trading presents, and singing songs. While I would say that we celebrate the spirit of the season rather than the mythology behind it, I believe Narrator Number Two said it best: , "You never need a good reason to party."
And why not celebrate xmas? Darwin proved that there was no Adam & Eve, so there was no original sin, therefore no need for JC even if he did exist. Game over Christians. So I grew up with Santa Claus too, who I dont believe in, nor believe existed, but that wont stop me from giving out prezzies. Im sure you dont believe in Leprechauns, but you dont really give a sh*t on St Patties day either do you?
We celebrate Halloween and Easter, but we don't believe in witches, Easter bunnies and Santa Claus, but we like the motifs, the fun, the rituals, the food, the gifts... And we don't care if some christians say that we're not supposed to celebrate Halloween, Easter, birthdays and Christmas because they have all pagan roots. And most native english speaking people still use the week days and month names with pagan etymologies: Janus, Februa, Mars, Aprilis, Moon, Thor, etc. Why do you do that?
@jezuzfreak777 How can you believe in a god, something that's far greater than you and I can ever imagine? After all, if we haven't figured out how the universe fully works what makes you think God existing will.
Atheists won't celebrate Christmas if they're alone. We will if others do, or if they expect some celebration. We don't want to spoil it for others, especially children. Happy Holidays was probably promoted by Jewish people because of Hanukkah. The thing we dislike the most about Religion, is that it is taught to children before their minds are developed enough to understand it. You didn't honestly give your daughter a choice, while you were talking about Religion all these years.
Look up Saturnalia/ Winter Solstice, and you'll see why you too celebrate a holiday at that time of year, Christian or not. It's not a religious specific holiday, but a cultural tradition that predates the adoption of Christianity, and you're indulging in Pagan rituals, not Christian ones and will go to Hell, should it exist. Also, I don't think brainwashing children was part of Jesus' teaching.
FYI: The UK is an ally of the US, but we don't give two seconds thought to the fourth of July.
Because why not? Christmas isn't celebrated just for jesus. It's also a good wayt catch up with friends, family. Personally it's a season for reminding myself that humanity isn't totally evil and that there is hope for us. Remember it used to be the winter solstice and people would have a feast to celebrate having survived the harsh winter months. I can't think of anything better to celebrate.
@Erech01 P.S. I get annoyed when the people who work in shops say 'happy holiday's' instead of 'merry christmas' and i'm an athiest, who was born and raised in the UK, so it's not just you guys who find it irritating.
I'm not exactly an atheist, but your 4th of July and muslim analogies are false. While you may not like the term holidays, many people such as myself just enjoy the season. To illustrate how disingenuous you're being, consider how many people celebrate halloween without caring for its religious context.
You don't need to shy away from saying, "Merry Christmas". Feel free to say it all you want. People say it to me all the time and my response is, "Thank you, you too". I don't find it offensive when someone says "Merry Christmas", and I'm having a hard time understanding why some people are offended when others don't. You aren't just sharing the world with atheists. You share it with Jews, Muslims, Hindus, Buddhists, Sikhs, etc. Why are you bothered that others don't think like you?
@ezyreap YES!!!! and my sister is comming home from London, family get together havr a laugh eat some turkey and ham.... drink more ice cold beers and sleep in the afternoon breeze....
@jezuzfreek777 Does your daughter know that Christmas is actually the day Jesus was presumably conceived not born? Also most Christmas traditions such as giving gifts and putting up a pine tree have roots in pagan tradition. God bless you! Matthew 10:34-37
@jezuzfreek777 I feel that in your opinion because you celebrate the religious part of Christmas you feel that Christmas is about that. Your right that Christmas was first celebrated for that aspect but in more recent times has become more about presents and the spirit of giving. If you don't believe in religion your left with the spirit of giving and yada yada yada. So I'm pretty sure that's why and how atheists would celebrate Christmas.
I celebrate jul. You do know that people celebrated in midwinter long before christianity did? Jesus wasn't borned in december. The celebration of him was put there to parasite on an allready existing holliday. We celebrate that light is comming back, that the year are turning and because it's fun. Most traditions around christmas are non religious or pagan. So why do you have a tree, give gifts, burn a logg, eat turkey, light up the house, make ginger cookies in animal shapes, lighting candles?
I do NOT celebrate the Chwistian Chwistmas! I celebrate the winter solstice, the shortest day of the year, after which the days lengthen and we swing back towards the light from the dark of winter.
Actually, the Rabbi called Yeshua bar Joseph would be horrified at a holiday being held for him and at his being made a Gob. He was not a Gob, he was a rebellious Rabbi who got caught and executed for his stupidity. As for Christmas being about his birth, BULLSHIT! It's about the solstice, ALWAYS!
Saying "Happy Holidays" is more about being polite. Not everyone celebrates Christmas, and also there is Thanksgiving and New Years, are those not holidays that you chrisians celebrate too? Now I do have afew christian coworkers and I wish them a "Merry christmas" out of respect for them and they wish me "Happy Chanukah" out of respect for me.
I do not celebrate the Christian Christmas but I do celebrate the federal holiday Christmas. Now what does gift giving have to do with Christian Christmas? If I give someone a gift at this time of the year does it mean then that I am celebrating Christmas? Think of the Jews before you answer.
You need to explain to your daughter that happy holidays has nothing to do with atheists, it has to do with the other religions that exist in this country and do not celebrate Christmas but may actually have a different holiday around the same time of year. The term Happy Holidays is not because your Christmas offend atheists but becuase we are suppose to be a country that except all religions and lack of religion equally. I could care less if you or anyone else says Merry Christmas.
When it is known and documented that 'jesus' (if he actually existed and isn't just an amalgamation of various messianic figures) wasn't even born anywhere near to the date we now refer to as december 25th - it sort of undermines this 'profound question' you are trying to push on us. When the basis of your faith is a foundation of stolen practices, idealogies, and symbols, it's kind of hard to argue for its authenticity. And beyond that, 'Christmas' today is just a material holiday
As society has adopted this period of the calendar as a holiday, I celebrate it as such; with friends, family, food and drink - that is more in line with the original Winter Solstice celebrations which predate this Christian mumbo-jumbo. So in reality, I am actually being more true to the values of this holiday than the majority of Christians.
As to your point about 'offending atheists' - you do realize other creeds celebrate this time of year as well (ie: Judaism) which also predates christmas
@jezuzfreek777 I agree with your last comment about not celebrating but you fail to realize, we atheists are a MINORITY and we get harassed and abused if we don't play along with your non christian holiday of Christ mass. A 80 yo lady gave me the dirtiest look of disrespect after she said" have a merry x mass" and I replied ty but I dont celibate, she said" are you jewish?"
I said "no I am an atheist" she said " that is no reason to not celebrate" and offered to take me to church.
@pandorachild to be fair though, you could have just said "merry christmas to you too" and moved along. i mean i dont celebrate ramadan or hannukah, but if someone wishes me a good one i say it right back and move along because they celebrate it, and i dont see a reason to be rude to them. i dont think you realize that you were even being rude, but you definitely brought that one on yourself haha.
Honestly if most atheists don't participate with your religion we suffer persecution.
It took years of explaining to my family why I didn't want to celibate a false holiday about a false god and even years after they give me a hard time.Saying happy holidays is inclusive whereas saying happy holidays is divisional, you force a wall between who is christian and who isn't.
"consider Jesus Christ my personal lord and savior"? ARE YOU CRAZY???
Christians know so little of their own religion and have chosen to ignore all the bad things the religion has done and is doing right now.Christians are all delusional and need to be freed from this insane cult.
Im an atheist and I dont celibate x mass or any other religious traditions. The real question here is why do Christians celibate it when it clearly has nothing to do with the myth of Jesus. yule time, caroling, pine trees? what you have been celebrating is pagan traditions
This is really disturbing, that you would fail to honestly and openly call christmas what it is. Christmas is the Winter Solstice, long before radical christians commandeered it for their own selfish purposes, it has nothing to do with your religion or your deity of convenience. Neither does Easter - which is really Oester. Where are eggs or trees in your book of war fables. Like so many in america, you're taking this religion thing way too far, and you're an unfit parent, in my opinion.
@OccamsView im a christian, and while christmas was taken from paganism, the date is all that was taken, not the entire celebration. The tree itself came from Germany, and I agree about easter, but why do you think he is an unfit parent?
@jo3jo3221 funny, american christians use pagan as a blanket term to disrespectfully refer to any other non-Abrahamic, indigenous polytheistic religious tradition. the level of ignorance from american christians is baffling and explains why the rest of the world has little time for you.
@OccamsView to be fair though, america is only 200 years old, and most religion is already falling apart at the seams here. most of europe was a theocracy for over a thousand years, which is partially why america even exists. i think you're going to need to wait a while before saying america is taking the religion thing too far.
It's not christmas. It's Winter Solstice. Learn your history. It wasn't christmas until 490AD. Winter Solstice was around since 12,000 years ago. Also the cedar tree and present concept has nothing to do with christ. It's a PAGAN holiday! You say you wouldn't celebrate someone else's holiday, but that's what you're doing! It's not a christian holiday!
@freethinker000 No, it doesn't.... The book was talking about a group of people who turned trees into idols. Idols of other gods. They didn't use it for a holiday and certainly not for christmas since christmas didn't exist until 490 AD. So Jeremiah 10 is not talking about a christmas tree.
We have to have a holiday in the winter because the government tell us,you will also not find the (christmas tree)in the magic book,so taking time of work spending time with family is not celebrating the VIRGIN birth, but a holiday.if you were taught other religions at school from an early age and given a holiday to pray to it then you would follow that religion, its called DOCTRINE. 30.000 kids die of hunger everyday,40 million christmas trees are sold in the usa each year, kids cant eat a tree.
Clergy brainwash children from birth with weirdo stories of miracles, ghosts and supernatural Caca Del Toro. There is no god. Religion is a form of mental illness. Jesus and God are two different things. The supernatural exists only for god myth people because "Nothing" turns them on. I am an atheist and its about time people got out of the superstitious gutter of blind indoctrination handed down by the ancients who talked about god myths before the wheel was invented or fire controlled.
Atheists follow true Laws. Laws of Humanity, Lws of the Universe, Laws of Goodness. Sanctity of Life. These are not Commandments but universal Laws of Instinct, Innate Goodness of a people, who by practice train up their children in the discernment of good and evil. We do not accept that blowing up and slandering your fellow man follows Universal Laws but is the Desire of Ego, the Madness of Patriarchal Hierarchy and the Dream of Death for those Defying Evil Religion. Jesus was an atheist.
The Sexual Season of Christmas was long practiced before Jesus was a twinkle in Arch Angel Gabriel's eye. The O T details the Sexual Season, including the ChristmasTree & gifts. The zealots in the OT days called the practice vain, the tree a stock of vanity. The Pharisees hijacked the following of the common sense man Jesus(actually an Atheist) after their failed crucifixion by hijacking the Season. They fell from grace & changed their name to Catholic and split into a bunch of christian sects.
This gu7y is absolutely a retarded theotard. "....The real meaning of Christmas is about the glorious birth of our lord ....". OMG Give me a break and don't be so much the brainwashed minion of the clergy. The Meaning of Christmas is the celebration of human sexuality. Christmas is the Human MATING SEASON, which necessarily involves conception, birth and children. Presents and commercialism and catering to the Christmas Crowds is all part of the Man seeks Girl for procreation purposes scenario.
I can hardly believe you have so much trouble understanding this... Christmas transcends religion. It's part of popular culture. The religion is not ours but the culture is.
@esquimalt1 I know, right? It's pretty sad really. She's young right now though so hopefully she'll outgrow it like most of us atheists did. It's gonna suck for Anthony though. Fearing that his daughter will go to hell. How does a christian cope with that? To this day I wonder if my mom thinks my grandpa (who was an atheist) is roasting in the fires of hell now that he's passed on. I'm sorry, but I refuse to believe that bullshit JUST because of a belief that he didn't have, ya know?
Huh...disabled ratings did you? why would anyone do that? I mean its not like there's going to be thousands of people who think your video is bullshit or anything.
I know you think that when you die, you'll be whisked off to some sort of magical happy-happy land for all eternity, but could you please not drive whilst making videos? Thanks.
There are a lot more holidays going on at the same time. It is easier to use a word that includes them all instead of listing them out or having to find out what holiday that person is celebrating.
I, an atheist, celebrate Christmas for the same reason as early Christians. I celebrate it to convert it to a new holiday that anyone can feel included in that no longer has anything to do with its traditional roots.
A better question would be why Christians celebrate the commercial side more often?
easy answer....its part of our cultural tradition, and to spend time with our loved ones...would me as an atheist care if its origional purpose was for some crack pot named jesus...no....jesus is irrelevent to the modern purpose of christmas
the winter solstice has many different holidays that are celebrated during it. and as you may know your Jesus was not born anywhere near December 25th but it is celebrated then none the less. You will find that many Atheists celebrate holidays that they've grown up with because to them it represents getting together with friends and family to show love and affection. It is the tradition we celebrate rather than the religious aspect.
Atheism is just one belief; not an entire dogma on how to behave. There's no universal rule that atheists can't partake in religious traditions. As for me, I celebrate because my family, which is largely Christian, celebrates. I don't take any offense to anything about Christmas, whether it be "merry Christmas", Santa, or nativity scenes. Why should I? They're just traditions people enjoy; no harm or ignorance inherent. It shouldn't be that hard to grasp since many Jews have the same attitude.
Why do Christians celebrate Christmas again? Evidence shows it likely WASN'T the birth of Christ. The "Christmas Tree" and the exchange of presents are both Pagan traditions that existed LONG before anything related to Christianity existed. Santa Clause is a marketing icon for Coca Cola...I mean what about Christmas is even related to Christianity? I celebrate Christmas as an Agnostic because I like to get together with my family and exchange presents and pleasantries with them. It feels good.
I know Christians that do not put up a tree are give gifts they consider it idol worship. Christmas they go to church have service and dinner together no tree no lights no gifts. just prayer and reflection.
Christmas has never been purely a Christian holiday. Jesus never put up a Christmas tree. If your not Catholic you should seriously consider not celebrating Christmas as a religious holiday. Celebrating birthdays was a purely Roman tradition in ancient times. The only real Christian holiday is Easter. Atheist celebrating Christmas is just pagans celebrating a pagan holiday. Just because some old crusty pope declared it a Christian holiday changes nothing.
@jezuzfreek777, do not presume to know the thoughts & actions of all atheists. To do so would be like saying all catholic priests are pedophiles (as opposed to just some). I am an atheist & I celebrate NO holidays... they are trivial & serve no real purpose. Enjoy your christmas with your family, if that's your belief, then it's your choice...peace.
You seem like a nice guy and I feel sorry for you. But I'm afraid I must inform you that you're moron and that you have no place dispensing your ideas into a camera.
Why do you exchange gifts? Why do you decorate an evergreen? Both were popularized long before "Christ" in Roman pagan festivals like Saturnalia. The practices were banned by early Christians as pagan. So, I assume, that you will excise these practices as those of rival gods because you would never celebrate a Muslim holiday, etc.
See atheists must push past emotional attachment that provides a false sense of certainty and employ critical thinking, which tends to atrophy with disuse.
and as far as the happy holidays. christmas sales actually start way before thanksgiving. thus there are actually 3 holidays that will be celebrated relatively close together. so combining a greeting into one happy holidays is much easier. it's the (CCC) christian coalition of conspiracies that think atheists have a war on christmas.
why do christians celebrate christmas on the winter solstice. there is no proof or documentation that (if born) jesus was bron on the 25th of dec. also, if you actually know your history, the reason christmas was taken into the christian religion was to persuade the pagans to convert. funny enough though, i have read where some religious researchers actually think that april is closer to the birth of jesus....which goes to show it's all a made up day to begin with.
Here's my question; Why do Christian YouTubers always disable ratings on their videos? What are you afraid of? Well, at least you didn't disable the comments too, like most do.
I am an atheist and not only am I NOT offended by "Merry Xmas", but I also say it myself. The reason some stores don't say it, is out of respect for OTHER religions, not particularly atheists. In fact I have never seen anyone in any store do ANYTHING out of respect for atheists. What DOES offend me is when people make videos that say, "I want you to believe in my god because if you don't you will burn in hell for eternity. A truly loving, caring god wouldn't have to use terroristic threats..
I celebrate Xmas, because I don't believe in the god of the Bible. If I thought he was real, I wouldn't celebrate Xmas, because I wouldn't want to celebrate the birth of a maniacal, evil tyrant as the god described in the Holy Bible, BUT since I know he's just make believe, I enjoy Xmas.
I think its a lot more about the fact that a cashier doesnt know what religion you are and there a lot of holidays in december (chanukah, kwanza, rhamadan) and they just wanna be all encompassing.
Jesus sounds alot like Promethus to me. He is being tortured for saveing mankind with the warmth of fire. I wonder what other things they stole from the greeks.
I'm not a christian but I celebrate Christmas. Why? Because my ancestors have been celebrating Christmas for well over 2000 years. OK they never called it Christmas but mid winter festivals happen and have happened all over the world. I call it Christmas because everyone around me does. As a non Christian I am not against christianity or the festivals, like it or not it is part of my heritage and culture and it helps a lot of people.
Christmas is an old Pagan holiday, Christians hijacked it when they tried to convert everyone to their way of thinking and incorporated it as one of their faiths holidays,
seriously, learn some real history from a book of facts, you are so close minded.....

You can say 'merry christmas' all you wan't without offending ,but you can't force a jew, a muslim , a hindu , a sikh , an atheist or anyone else from saying 'happy holidays.'

As an atheist, My family decorates and exchanges presents. I believe any holiday that encourages people to be generous and a little nicer to one another is a good thing. I also believe that many 'christmas' traditions are much older than christianity. Wreaths, x-mas trees, gift-giving, are all rooted in ancient Roman and Germanic-pagan traditions. People of European descent have always observed them and I see no reason to stop simply because we're not followers of Jesus
Consider this, Xmas is celebrated in Japan, and many people have no idea who Jesus is. They usually celebrate by buying Chicken & Cake. Kentucky Fried stores everywhere have a line up outside.
Xmas, until recent history, was a secular holiday. Get together with the people you love and give. That the name of the holiday came to have "Christ" in it because of the dominant religion of a time, doesn't mean it's reserved for Christians.
I don't celebrate Christmas, I celebrate Newton Day.
Listen, set aside the fact that Christmas is a pagan holiday hijacked by Christians, and that biblical scholars have determined that in accordance to the story of Jesus' birth, it likely happened in the summer, not the winter solstice.
Christmas has become a secular holiday of enjoying being with your family and exchanging gifts to express a love for each other. That's what it is to me, and I imagine that's what it is to most atheists.
@sfg911 - that passage in scripture Jeremiah 10:3-4 says they carve idols into the tree. Christians do not carve idols into the tree. cutting down of the christmas tree symbolizes christ dying for our sins and putting it up represents his ressurection. as for all these other comments, I'm with jezuzfreek....I pray that God blesses you & you accept him as your Lord and savior.

I am amazed that you think you have a point to make here. This is laughably juvenile thinking. Are you so deficient in your understanding of the atheist viewpoint that you think we would feel ashamed to celebrate a fun holiday? That we would be insulting our own "gods"? You need to face a painful fact about yourself. You just aren't very insightful or for that matter. . . bright.
@jezuzfreek777 After all these years of arguing with atheists . . . such ignorant questions! The SOLSTICE comes every year and almost all of the FUN things about christmas celebrations come from pre christian traditions that coincided with it. Including the decorated tree, the gift giving, the feasting, the gathering of friends and family etc. It's connection with biblical mythology was a undeniable fabrication of the early christian church. The hypocrisy is on the christian side of the isle.
Why do christians think they started christmas??? It really has nothing to do with Jesus..So this video is pointless..BEFORE you come and talk shit remember to look it up before talking out of your ass..Point blank : We celebrate christmas because we like the feeling of family and friends all together and all that..NOTHING to do with an ancient myth
It doesn't offend atheists if anyone says merry Christmas to them, it could offend other religions, Muslim, Buddhist, Jewish, as it would probably offend you if someone said Happy Eid to you. A question back to you. How do you and your family celebrate Halloween?
it wont offend any one, thanxs for the lovely words at the beginning about wishing every one well, and i celebrate Christmas to the point of sharing and gift giving. and our beliefs aren't that we can and cant do this or that, its just that we don't pretend their is a man who made every thing and cares for us, u have an amazingly high resistance to logic i wont disprove the bible, but chirstmas is barely about Jesus any more, its a social trend, which WILL continue to increase

I don't believe in Jesus, but I love seeing my family and exchanging gifts, so I take part in Christmas celebrations with my Christian relatives.
If that's not enough for you, then you need to drive that car off of a bridge some day.

I do recommend honesty however so I hope you do tell her this.

first mistake here is that you consider atheism a belief (faith). when it is in fact a non belief. i myself do believe in what religions refer to as god, but totally disregard religion. funny thing bout that is, i actually have christian friends that, once turned onto the actual truth of christmas refuse to celebrate it. its funny what a little knowledge can do.

Personally it's a season for reminding myself that humanity isn't totally evil and that there is hope for us. I'm not exactly an atheist, but your 4th of July and muslim analogies are false. While you may not like the term holidays, many people such as myself just enjoy the season.

The celebration of December 25th originally had nothing to do with Christianity.
It was a pagan holiday.
Christians hated the holiday. In the 1600s, it was banned in the MA Bay Colony.

I do not celebrate the Christian Christmas but I do celebrate the federal holiday Christmas. Now what does gift giving have to do with Christian Christmas? If I give someone a gift at this time of the year does it mean then that I am celebrating Christmas? Think of the Jews before you answer.
dataloreforever 1 month ago
You need to explain to your daughter that happy holidays has nothing to do with atheists, it has to do with the other religions that exist in this country and do not celebrate Christmas but may actually have a different holiday around the same time of year. The term Happy Holidays is not because your Christmas offend atheists but becuase we are suppose to be a country that except all religions and lack of religion equally. I could care less if you or anyone else says Merry Christmas.
dataloreforever 1 month ago
When it is known and documented that 'jesus' (if he actually existed and isn't just an amalgamation of various messianic figures) wasn't even born anywhere near to the date we now refer to as december 25th - it sort of undermines this 'profound question' you are trying to push on us. When the basis of your faith is a foundation of stolen practices, idealogies, and symbols, it's kind of hard to argue for its authenticity. And beyond that, 'Christmas' today is just a material holiday
sdmac21 1 month ago

A better question would be why Christians celebrate the commercial side more often?

the winter solstice has many different holidays that are celebrated during it. and as you may know your Jesus was not born anywhere near December 25th but it is celebrated then none the less. You will find that many Atheists celebrate holidays that they've grown up with because to them it represents getting together with friends and family to show love and affection. It is the tradition we celebrate rather than the religious aspect.
SHOOTER13626 1 month ago

See atheists must push past emotional attachment that provides a false sense of certainty and employ critical thinking, which tends to atrophy with disuse.

why do christians celebrate christmas on the winter solstice. there is no proof or documentation that (if born) jesus was bron on the 25th of dec. also, if you actually know your history, the reason christmas was taken into the christian religion was to persuade the pagans to convert. funny enough though, i have read where some religious researchers actually think that april is closer to the birth of jesus....which goes to show it's all a made up day to begin with.

Here's my question; Why do Christian YouTubers always disable ratings on their videos? What are you afraid of? Well, at least you didn't disable the comments too, like most do.

By the way, "MERRY CHRISTMAS" from an atheist!
InvisibleSkyDaddy 1 month ago

Cuz Ramadan is lame. Especially in the arctic circle cuz you starve to death. Have a cool Yule and a super solstice.

Jesus sounds alot like Promethus to me. He is being tortured for saveing mankind with the warmth of fire. I wonder what other things they stole from the greeks.

Jesus was not born on Christmas, it was a pagan holiday the early Christians stole.

Are you really his ignorant, Freak?
Holiday(S)....as in MORE THAN ONE.
Also, unless you know for a fact that no Jews or Muslims live in your area, then it is NOT alright to say 'merry xmas' to everyone.
What dumb topic to make a video about....OH, and I feel truly sorry for your daughter, that you've infected her with this god-virus already

I have christian friends who do not celebrate Christmas and see it as wrong for other christians to do so.

"- that passage in scripture Jeremiah 10:3-4 says they carve idols into the tree. Christians do not carve idols into the tree."
>That bible verse does NOT say what you claim it does.
-It speaks about idol-worship and offering to the gods/goddesses of fertility.
"cutting down of the christmas tree symbolizes christ dying for our sins and putting it up represents his ressurection."
>No, it really does not, but I am keen to know from where you picked this up?

>Please.
-At least get your biblical knowledge up to the level. You rJeremiah -claim alone is enough to doubt your knowledge on your own holy book.
Joulu is about winter turning towards the Sun, spring and fertility.
-It was simply an attempt from the christians side to hijack festivities from various other faiths.

Because jesus is lame and presents are awesome. Besides it isn't even a christian holiday it's a pagan holiday. Christians just took it.

Athiests celebrate it because it's a Hallmark holiday to make money. I don't celebrate anything, but other people do like presents.

MrSteveblades 1 month ago
it wont offend any one, thanxs for the lovely words at the beginning about wishing every one well, and i celebrate Christmas to the point of sharing and gift giving. and our beliefs aren't that we can and cant do this or that, its just that we don't pretend their is a man who made every thing and cares for us, u have an amazingly high resistance to logic i wont disprove the bible, but chirstmas is barely about Jesus any more, its a social trend, which WILL continue to increase

Clearly you do not know your Own bible.
The very Foundation of Christianity is an Abomination to the God of the bible!
Proverbs 17:15 He that justifieth the wicked, and he that condemneth the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
Proof Christianity is based on Both!
Romans 3:28 Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.
Matthew 27:4 Saying, I have sinned in that I have betrayed the innocent blood.
December 25 was Originally Pagan

Because it's been rammed up our collective asses for so long that we've started to enjoy it? I dunno.
PS: In my experience, the only people who got offended by being wished a "merry Chris
