@scragger07 As far as I understand the lyrics, she doesn't plummet to her inevitable death. She is standing on the roof to kill herself but then an ambulance comes and takes her to a mental institution. "And she bowed and curtseyed to the man(...)who led her down to the long white car that waited past the crowd", so she doesn't realize it's an ambulance and she thinks the white car rides her through Paris. Does this make any sense?

Oh and by the way, her voice is still beautiful.
