You are clearly insecure, socratic, naive, & a trouble maker who talks out your insular, inane arse so ZIP IT! If you are NOT a Bon Jovi fan...BUZZ the F' OFF!!
@sweenykim Why do people say Thin Lizzy were under-rated? Lizzy were one of the biggest bands in the world in the late 70s/early 80s. People should do their homework.
@whitbyjet65 Homework? Oh Puhhhhlease, where did U go to music school? Lizzy were UNSUNG & UNDERRATED in comparision to their musical peers. They recorded 13+ albums yet are known comercially for 1 or 2 songs. Fortunately, they are highly revered among fans, purists & their musical peers. I rest my case...
@sweenykim Not in my country their not! They had hit after hit after hit. I suspect you're American (I haven't checked your profile). And please don't lecture me about a band from my country that I've been a fan of since 1975. Now run along back to your polyester clothes & your hot dogs.
@whitbyjet65 Wake up up and smell my APPLE PIE! Yes I'm American & VERY PROUD of it! Don't give me the cheesey Americana generalization crappola either. Genius, either you've had too many pints or can't get our common reverence of an AMAZING, albeit Comercially UNSUNG band through your thick noggin. Zip your condescending, insular, pontificating psuedo intellectual, music devotee lip! Botton line, alas, Lizzy's worldwide impact paled in comparison to what it should've or could've been.
@sweenykim Tell me, are all Americans prone to such childish tantrums if they don't hear what they want to hear, or is it just you? Oh so using your logic, if a band doesn't make it big in America, it means they can't be considered a huge band. Colossal chart success in the UK, Europe & Australia but if you Americans don't like them, they're considered failures, are they? There's life beyond the USA, despite what you think.
@whitbyjet65 Nope, we just don't like or tolerate sophmoric foolishnes from narrow-minded indivuals who don't read carefully and/or comprehend both musical reality & history. How ironic is it that you are karping about my comments on a BON JOVI cover of a TL song. Hence, reverence & peer respect for the profound influence the band truly had globally. Unfortunately, they DIDN'T Share the same level of global success as they should've. Nuff said....
@sweenykim You have no idea about Lizzy & what they acheived. Go away & talk about a band you have some knowledge of, like Bon Jovi. I arrived here because I wanted to check out Lizzy covers, I'm not a Bon Jovi fan. I've been a hardcore Lizzy fan since the 70s. I saw them on every tour from 78 & I've studied them ever since. Global success doesn't mean American success. Get that into your bone shaped head.
@sweenykim 1972 to 1983: Thin Lizzy had 17 singles in the charts. Far more chart success than Rush, Sabbath, Zeppelin, Kiss, AC/DC, The Eagles etc. If Lizzy weren't big in your country, that's a reflection on your collective taste rather than an accurate measurement on Lizzy's impact worldwide. Obvioulsy America prefered Donny Osmond & Tiny Tim.
@hailknopfler2 I'm sorry but I love the Thin Lizzy version a lot but I better love the Bon Jovi one. Jon Bon Jovi is my favorite singer on earth (with Axl Rose of Guns 'N' Roses) and Richie Sambora is my best guitar player (with Slash and Yngwie Malmsteen). Then this version sound better than any other for me.
This song appears on an album from moscow peace festival, live musicians singing dead peoples songs. This is on it aswell as Cinderella doing joplin,Ozzy doing Hendrix,Skid Row doing the who ect...
wow man i am reli diggin those vocals in the chorus sounds awesome hmmm i dont think either version is better though i love thin lizzy i think both have their merits bt hey its all gd
I was never was really ever into Bon Jovi but, he is a great guy. when I worked at the Marriott I talked to him for a few and he was really down to earth. Anyho, I do feel like this is a great comparison to Thin Lizzy. Good job Jersey boys!!
This is a cover of a Thin Lizzy song, but it is on a version of Cross Road that comes with a bonus "rarities" CD + the Live in London DVD. The box set "100 million Bon Jovi fans can't be wrong" has 4 discs worth of rare and unreleased tracks. You could also have a look for albums and singles released in different countries/markets because they usually have different B-sides.
Absolutely fan-friggin'-tastically awesome. My Chemical Romance performed here in the Philippines and all I could think was "What--they couldn't get Bon Jovi or anyone good instead of those kids?"
Great! God bless you Thin Lizzy!!!
