When this movie was made they used the original 130hp engine in the Delorean. The "time machine" add ons added 700pounds of extra weight to the car. The Delorean isn't a fast car to begin with, but would've been faster without the time travel add ons. There are performance upgrades available for the Delorean now, including a supercharger kit. I have driven 3 Deloreans and they are a blast to drive!

I wonder if the writers were being intentionally ironic with the terrorists' lines, given that the AK-47 is famous for it's reliability (it's simple design has as few moving parts as possible so there's less things that can go wrong) and German engineering is highly respected.

That looked like an AK-47 that Libyan was using. Marty was very lucky it jammed. You can bury an AK-47 in the sand for ten years, dig it up, clean out the barrel, and it still works.

It could have been one of those shitty counterfeit AK-47s. There are all sorts of criminals that sell some of the shittiest guns dirt cheap, and the Libyans probably bought them. These counterfeit guns almost ALWAYS jam.

@TheK12314 True, but it seems pretty hard to screw up making an AK-47. They were built to be simple an reliable. Even a five year old could figure out hot to strip and clean an AK in less then half an hour. Still, i suppose it could have been cheap materials used.
