[sorry the english. Please help me find out that movie!!] a movie of androids in the desert, that has some american soldiers, and there's a cyborg between them, and it kills a human calling him a cyborg because he kept repeating the same words. I remember the sands of the desert with some kind of robots with blades that cuts any who dar trepass the desert.
personally i think that blade runner is kind of incomplete movie
The music is complete
The scenography is complete
Anything is great and complete in it, except the story, it's really not roundly developped content meaning
Im not talking about its philosophical layer, im talking about the plot. with 20 minuts more it would have been a great movie in every sense in all its dimension and depth
Like it is, it's just a fascinating sketch and voyage, but the plot is not develpped as it should
@k3nzh1n082 That comment works on youtube, but if you give Blade Runner a chance it's ambience and intelligent aesthetic transcend most film even today in the genre of sci-fi and drama. A true work of art musically and intellectually.
good film, but overated if you ask me, i watched it for the first time about 3 months ago and i honestly was left disappointed after hearing people say its such a great movie, a classic blah blah it got my expectations high, but was a good film, but i expected more from hearing what everyone says about it
@adsasfd well it was about him being like a future detective and he had to track down these human clones, they were made just to function like humans, but they sort of went rogue, started killing real humans n shit so he had to hunt them down and kill them i guess, the clones were killing people because they wanted to find out who made them and all that rubbish, they wanted to be human and because they wasnt they went kinda crazy so he had to track em down and take em out, gd film but overated.
@Brady2k10 Yea i got all that when i saw the movie, i just didnt feel as if the characters did anything Harrison fords character is the same throughout the movie he just seems bored. At one point hes just chilling at the sushi bar, hadnt he just shot women in the back, i didnt get what the move was trying to do, was it about choices you make in life, so it either means i'm just stupid and thick or the movie didnt give me enough of what i wanted and also i felt the ending was rushed.
@adsasfd yeah i agree, was kinda boring and a bit slow and the characters were bland and boring as well, didnt care about any of them really and the story i didnt care about either, so these human clones are killin people, why am i meant to care you kno? its just overated
in a strange way the replicants are more human than us , they value their short space of time alive more than us , and rutger hauer helps deckard discover his own humanity at the end
Yes... but what I can say is that still there are a few films that really are well done. This one does not fit in that because there are a bad guy? I just expected another kind of story.
This film appears to be a typical "good" guy vs "bad" guy. It is not just talking about the "humanity" and the "consequences" or whatever about that, it is simply showing a personal event: a guy vs another guy.
I don't like the mix of personal emotional things with a story about the humanity.
A friend of mine, Morgan Paull, was the narrator in the trailer. He also played the part of Holden in the film. It was top secret at the time, his doing the voice over, but later was made known.
@BenGriffithsReviews You can trust me on this, I am the founder of the website BladeZone. the online Blade Runner Fan Club, the single most popular and respected Blade Runner e-zine. Also, Morg's work talked a lot about in Paul Sammon's book "Future Noir: The Making of Blade Runner." Morg also sat in as Deckard for all of the secondary character auditions.
@BenGriffithsReviews BTW, Bladezone is the only site featured in the special features section of Blade Runner: The Final Cut. If you have never seen it, we also helped the UK's Channel 4, in their documentary about the making of Blade Runner called "On The Edge of Blade Runner." I got a special thanks at the end, which was very cool. Anyway, you can find copies of the documentary every once in a while on eBay if you ever want to see it.
I got my hubby a birthday present years ago because he has been a fan of the movie and I must say it is quite impressive. I love the one liners... can't wait to see the sequel or prequel to the movie. You just have to have faith as far as Ridley Scott is concerned.
im sorry too 80's for me.... the only good thing that came out the 80's was rocky, raiders of the lost ark, the untouchables, and the empire strikes back.... thats it.... ok and scarface
Worst trailer I've ever seen. It gives away most of the film, yet manages to bleed all the tension and beauty out of it. Such a great movie and this makes it look like second rate garbage.
@cugamer How many movies have you seen based on the trailer alone? You cannot be serious. I didn't know what the movie was about before I saw it on its first release and I would not have cared if I had seen the trailer. I went to see it because Ford was in it. I just wanted to see him in a movie where he didn't lose his wife.
Trailers definitely used to have terrible editing and pacing in the early 80's if this is anything to go by. I can't imagine them doing the film less justice than this does. No sense of suspense or timing. The voice over isn't Ford, the chopped dialogue around to go with different visuals (e.g. 'time to die'). The music is painful. I'm guessing that the final edit wasn't yet in and the music was also unfinished/undelivered at this time. Truly awful treatment of a great film.
This trailer implies a movie with a much faster pacing. Blade runner is a very slow movie because it's imparting an atmosphere. Sometimes a movie comes along that is so much better than everything else virtually no one gets it at the time. It's not about the tech, if you think it's about the tech, you've missed the point. It's about the commodification of everything, including human beings.
Avatar will never be better than this. Avatar was just 3d and cool looking CGI based in a jungle with tall blue cat people that lived in that Animal Kingdom Tree. No good characters no cool moments nothing. I cant believe its the highiest grossing film of all time
@NIGELP520 Hey, there's no need to be so harsh. I personally liked both "Avatar" and "Blade Runner." They're both good films, but in different ways, and it is unfair to compare them to each other.
Flying cars in 2019? hahahahah oh bless those people in the 80's they must of thought the new mellenieum would be so futuristic xD ... maybe in 3019...
Is this the version that had the unnecessary voice over by harrison ford? I have seen the final cut version that is the definitive version of the film.
William, sorry to tell you : we ´re already stuck in this shit, especially thanked for the the formidable and virtual tentacle of the Tyrell Corp. , which name comprises life-trapping = THE WEB. And as time goes by, the so-called "social nets" make an unimaginable number of replicants, all happy out of their shallow likes and deeply and cruel stupidity.
lol flying cars in 2019 pshh yea were fucking struggling as it is to keep cars going with all this oil and petrol bullshit, we'll be lucky if theres any dam cars in 2019, more chance of a nuclear wasteland after world war 3 back to the ol horse and carriage lol
It's irrelevant whether we all own flying cars or not in the future. What's relevant, and what Philip K. Dick and Ridley Scott examine in this groundbreaking movie is whether or not we are mentally, emotionally and philosophically ready to deal with the consequences of our own technological prowess. It's only 2011 but so far the evidence is not encouraging.
@Chrisnonstop80s By modifyng the movie content, Ridley Scott is also giving an answer to the question: if humanity is ready. Its obviously not ready if it demands more blood.
@Linkage1992 or it could be that we just need to pull our collective head out of our collective ass before it gets to that. Though I'm not holding my breath for that to happen.
After seeing comments (on IMDB) claiming that 2 of my favorite movies were stealing from blade runner, I decided to rent it. I was pretty excited when I saw that it had (88/100?) but holy shit was I disappointed.
This movie is so overrated it's ridiculous how fucking awful it was. I'm sure it was great and innovator when it came out in 86, but with what is possible nowadays (thx to computers) you'll find it very boring.
Do yourself a favor and save yourself that 2hours and 5 bucks of rental.
@HealzKoronis I thought it was the opposite. I liked it, and I can see why it's considered groundbreaking but I think people like it more now than back then, considering it was apparently withdrawn from cinemas within something like a week and a half of premiering.
First of all it came out in 82. After watching this movie for this first time today I have come to realize that this movie was way before its time. Never would have thought a movie from 1982 would have that kind of graphics and a plot so amazing that movies are still trying to copy it today (like I Robot). You must of the brain of a 2 year old to find this movie "very boring". Blade runner is one of the best movies i have ever seen for sure.
@avschase Cool fucking story bro. It's about time I adress you fags replying.
First of all, if you've wasted time to go back 3 pages in the comment, you should have seen that I had been already corrected on the date.
I'm glad you enjoyed the movie. I did not. You must have the brain of a fucking imbecile to not understand different people have different taste. All I did was alert others who were skeptical about renting what is probably the most overrated movie of all time.
its so overrated I mean all I hear is blade runner being the best sci fi ever and not that other movie which i have never heard of, but i believe people call it avatar. Or you never hear anyone talk about the one movie with the light swords. Its alway blade runner "this" blade runner "that" or what new blade runner toy is out. Bro cry me a fucking river. You qualify more as a fag if you get all butthurt over a film and then make a emotional complaint on youtube about how "Awful" it was.
@avschase You should get your fat ass up and stop watching TV if you think you're getting assaulted by avatar ads (which is not the case anymore - idk what kind of shitty argument it was, just like the I, robot one ). All I did was give my opinion on this movie and I have as much rights as all you dick riders praising how amazing the movie was.
God damn another hissy fit. I will get off my fat ass and stop watching tv if you would get off your sugar daddy's dick. I mean i know you do it because he is you sugar daddy and all and he is paying for your sex change operation, but you dont need a vagina if your already PMSing over a movie like a twat. By the sounds of it im betting your already post op. Oh and im guessing your more of the fat ass when your the one playing those fucking starcraft games.
@HealzKoronis Why do you think its overrated? It's fine to dislike a popular movie I mean *whisper* I'm not a fan of The Deer Hunter* but I'm not being rude about it. Avatar was decent I enjoyed it but its generic in its story telling, the characters are bland and script is pathetic.
I just saw this film and thought it was a waste of 2 hours. I don't know if it was just the director's cut which I watched, but I thought it was one of the most overrated films i've ever seen.
besty sci fi film ever made. fuck 2001 space odyssey...this is the best! a film which was way ahead of its time when first released in 1982! the story, the themes ( climate change, technology being mans enemy! under appreciated in 1982 over the years it has gone on to be a cult classic!
@williamthethird Thats one of the best comments i have heard in a while and you did not even ask for a thumbs up. Thats a comment that truly deserves a thumbs up.
I wonder why holywood abandoned the cyberpunk SCI FI genre, nowdays movies that depict the future only go ahead by two years. We want to see hover cars again!!!
@jeng3000 that growth actually HAS been sustained, just not in the way predicted. computer technology improves at an exponential rate and isn't bogged down by anything. invention is fueled by practicality, and there's no practical reason to develop (let alone produce) flying cars.
@startrek19591 it is a visionary movie but scott said being ahead of your time is just as bad as being behind. but trully one of the greatest movies ever made
Deckard's life is pretty rubbish really isn't it? He has no friends, it's always raining, it's always night time, he has sex with robots, and his job makes him feel guilty and miserable. He's not very good at his job either - I mean he enters the Bradbury building on his own knowing he may well encounter up to two Nexus 6 replicants who've already nearly kicked his ass twice already. On the bright side, he has the coolest bachelor pad ever.
Yes, but seemingly only to fourteen year old little gobshites who do not have the brains nor the patience for character building and storytelling. You wouldn't know a classic movie if one came up behind you and kicked you in the pants. Now...carry on waiting for the next instantly forgettable summer blockbuster, there's a good little boy.
And she's a replicant too.......
Best movie.

HealzKoronis 6 months ago
its so overrated I mean all I hear is blade runner being the best sci fi ever and not that other movie which i have never heard of, but i believe people call it avatar. Or you never hear anyone talk about the one movie with the light swords. Its alway blade runner "this" blade runner "that" or what new blade runner toy is out. Bro cry me a fucking river. You qualify more as a fag if you get all butthurt over a film and then make a emotional complaint on youtube about how "Awful" it was.
avschase 6 months ago
@avschase You should get your fat ass up and stop watching TV if you think you're getting assaulted by avatar ads (which is not the case anymore - idk what kind of shitty argument it was, just like the I, robot one ). All I did was give my opinion on this movie and I have as much rights as all you dick riders praising how amazing the movie was.
Facts:
- You're a faggot
- Blade runner was shit/ is now obsolete
- Avatar was decent
Deal with it

@jeng3000 that growth actually HAS been sustained, just not in the way predicted. computer technology improves at an exponential rate and isn't bogged down by anything. invention is fueled by practicality, and there's no practical reason to develop (let alone produce) flying cars.

A truly visionary sci-fi classic that was years ahead of its time, a triumph for director Ridley Scott!
startrek19591 11 months ago 72
@startrek19591 it is a visionary movie but scott said being ahead of your time is just as bad as being behind. but trully one of the greatest movies ever made

Deckard's life is pretty rubbish really isn't it? He has no friends, it's always raining, it's always night time, he has sex with robots, and his job makes him feel guilty and miserable. He's not very good at his job either - I mean he enters the Bradbury building on his own knowing he may well encounter up to two Nexus 6 replicants who've already nearly kicked his ass twice already. On the bright side, he has the coolest bachelor pad ever.

"Hahaha, MOVIE SUCKS!"
