@planetolushola The history of Yoruba in Benin Republic goes beyond slavery. Three of the seven original towns attributed to the seven descendants of Oduduwa (Okanbi) are found in Benin namely: Ketu (Ketou), Sabe (Save) and Popo. The land has been inhabited centuries before slave trade.

I do not understand what she is saying but i feel taken over with grace by her voice and the sound of the music. It makes me feel the presence of Angels and heaven if only for a few moments. Why does it have to end so soon. I love Africa
@johnkenn2008 These are yorubas in Benin often with more authentic yoruba culture than in Nigeria. Yorubas have lived in Benin thousand of years if I'm not mistaken so they don't cross across no nationality nothing. They are yorubas period and don't be fooled by the accent. If you listen carefully, they speak just as good if not better. Do your research brov!

@yorubaland Oh yes. The history of Yoruba people in Benin goes back into antiquity, dating back to the times of the tran-antlantic slave trade, when indigenous communities in Yorubaland were raided and settled in Benin for the tran-atlantic crossing. There were wars fought between the Egba's and Egbado's for autonomy of their teritory, and some fleeting indigenous yourba's emigrated and settled in Benin. They retained their culture and are proud to be Yourba people.
