I have a problem with the concept that most Eastern Christians and Catholics believe that the word Theotokos is found in Luke 1:43. The word found in this verse is Κυρίου for Lord and no where does it say Theotokos. All I ask of Christians who believe that Theotokos is found in the word to tell me where I can find it.

The concept that Mary would be the mother of God makes her equal to God as His mate to produce a son who would also be God. But if you say that Mary is just responsible for the Human aspect of Jesus meaning his body and not his Spirit which is God, then I would agree with you. Before Mary was, Christ was, so she cannot be the mother of God. I am not Catholic due to this major theological difference.

Instead they pray to her to pray to Jesus Christ for them, which is acceptable; because the Mother is not prayed to in place of Jesus Christ. I do think Mary is important in scripture, since she nursed and cared for Jesus during His childhood. We worship God, and consider scripture as sacred, and HOLY. It is not for worship, however, Jesus is the WORD (LOGOS, which means SPOKEN WORD) of God, and John 1:1 states that Jesus is God, and therefore, we do indeed worship the WORD OF GOD. If you want to call that the Bible, then you privately interpret that we worship scripture.

The reason Jesus says to go to him is because he is the one who would be that high priest, he would be that priestly king, in the order of Melchizedek.
In Leviticus only the high priest was able to enter the holy of holy's,he was in direct connection to GOD.
So when Israel wanted their sins forgiven, they would go to the high priest because only the high priest could enter and be the mediator.
Jesus is that high priest/King who now intercedes for us, we have direct connection the Father.

The concept that Mary would be the mother of God makes her equal to God as His mate to produce a son who would also be God. But if you say that Mary is just responsible for the Human aspect of Jesus meaning his body and not his Spirit which is God, then I would agree with you. Before Mary was, Christ was, so she cannot be the mother of God. I am not Catholic due to this major theological difference.

the fact that you admit there *is* only *one* mediator between God and man, the man Christ Jesus shows that there is no need to pray to anyone else. We pray one *for* another, but we are not commanded to pray *to* anyone except God the Father, in the name of Jesus Christ the Son. Anything less is uneccessary at best, and unBiblical.

People often misunderstand this. Simply put, Catholics do not pray to Mother Mary for salvation, forgiveness, and/or worship. Instead they pray to her to pray to Jesus Christ for them, which is acceptable; because the Mother is not prayed to in place of Jesus Christ. Instead the people who pray to her humble themselves before Jesus to the point of asking his mother to graciously pray for them through her divine connection. Furthermore, she is not worshiped, but honored, which is acceptable.

@bella50008: Again, Catholics do not worship Mary. I am a Catholic, and I can tell you that I only worship Jesus Christ. I do think Mary is important in scripture, since she nursed and cared for Jesus during His childhood. I would assume that the apostles had a great respect for her, yet she was still apart of the apostles (since she most definitely followed her Son). I would think saying "Mary is a legion of demons" is slander against the person Mary though.

Every message that The Mother of God, Mary, Has done or said to people, whether it be in visions or in thought, is turn to my Son, or turn to Jesus. She has never claimed or advocated herself as God or part of the Holy Trinity. The blessed Mother I know always leads sinners,like ourselves, back to Jesus and encourages us all to focus on Jesus alone. If we are to weakened by sin,arrogance and pride to do this she is a powerful intercessor to help us get back on the right track.
As far as Fr Gobbi and his inner locutions of of our lady go I am fairly certain they have not been approved by the Catholic church, so as far as I am concerned it's taboo and out of obedience I don't follow this.

Jesus has given us full access to the throne, yet you go to another entity to go to Jesus who in turn goes to God. WHY?? Just go to God yourself! The woman in Revelation is not Mary it's a picture of Israel, since Christ came out of the Tribe of Judah born in Bethlehem; the twelve stars are the tribes of Israel. The tribes did not come from Mary, so it doesn't make sense that they would be attributed to Mary.

We worship God, and consider scripture as sacred, and HOLY. It is not for worship, however, Jesus is the WORD (LOGOS, which means SPOKEN WORD) of God, and John 1:1 states that Jesus is God, and therefore, we do indeed worship the WORD OF GOD. If you want to call that the Bible, then you privately interpret that we worship scripture.

Christ was born of Israel. The Israelite nation is often referred to as a woman in Isaiah54:5 and Jeremiah31:32.This woman cannot be mary because the woman IS ON EARTH DURING THE TRIBULATION, whereas mary's spirit is in heaven at that time.

Praying to a dead person is as witchcraft. Mary is dead. Jesus lives. If you want people to pray for you, as the living, not the dead. Mary is indeed dead. Now I know you Catholics don't believe that, as you have some sort of law that states that her and her body are living in heaven, and that she has no sin. For all have sinned and fall short, and all die in Adam. Mary is not excluded. You cannot pray to a dead person, no matter how much you reverence them.

@SpanishWrangler I didn't say "according to me", I said "according to God". His church is not something you can see, as you cannot see the Holy Spirit in anyone. Jesus said this, that the kingdom of God is without observation. You can't say, here it is, or there it is. Repent and Believe. Acts 19:1-7! BOOM, SAVED! Acts 2 took about 5 minutes! Scripture states that we are saved by Grace thru faith and NOT OF OURSELVES lest any man boast that they did this, & that. You think God OWES you for your works. You are the one who will say, LORD, LORD, didn't I do this, and didn't I do that in your name?". You are expecting PAYMENT for your work, & are going to demand it from God, as if to say, God is indebted to any man. Purgatory does not exist, by the way! We are saved by Grace thru faith(LOVE). It isn't faith+works, but faith=GOOD works.

@SpanishWrangler Saying that Mary was sinless means this: Jesus died on the cross in vain. Why? Because if it be possible that anyone can live a sinless life, then it is possible for anyone to live a sinless life, and if Mary can do it, then so can anyone, and we are all without excuse, and Jesus didn't need to die on the cross to save anyone, because righteousness would then come by obeying the law, and Catholics state that Mary OBEYED EVERY SINGLE PRECEPT OF THE LAW.

I think with all my Catholic peers that you do have a BIG problem. You protestants have no nuclear family. You can't even hold your families together with a divorce rate of 90% !!!!!!!!!! Mary, Jesus has appeared to many Saints. Their lifes and examples are UNMATCHED by poor protestants souls....you have not even one Saint!!! How sad for u!

@SpanishWrangler Translating errors? Dude, the OT is this (SUMMARY), Jesus is coming. The NT is this (In summary) Jesus came, we saw, and we testify, just like the OT stated. What is so hard about that? I got divorced long before I became a Christian. But while we have divorce, which is allowed, and you say it isn't, you do have annulments, which is no different than divorce, except the piece of paper. You badmouth protestants because you are taught to, not because you see our hearts.

You and all protestants are divorce because you do not have the fruits of the spirit....you are 90% deep up to your necks in sin! You show no fruit. We are expanded all over the earth with schools, hospitals tending to the poor and the sick! we bore MANY SAINTS! NONE OF YOU HAVE ANY FRUITS! BUT DISCORDANCE AND SEPARATION AMONG YOURSELVES. Catholics have been Catholics for more than 2 milleniums! :)

@SpanishWrangler You allow annulments. There is no difference between divorce, which scripture discusses, vs. annulments, which scripture does not discuss. It's end result is the same. But you just use a different word for it.

The reason was is that the thief REPENTED, NOT PENANCE, WHICH IS NOT EVEN BIBLICAL, AND BELIEVED. Repent and Believe. That is Baptism. He was baptized ON THE CROSS as Jesus is the WATER of the word. Repent and Believe. That is what we protestants preach, but you Catholics think that James is discussing works FOR salvation when it isn't!
