Listening to Maynard live often makes me laugh, because he was so awesome, with that rare out-of-this-world quality. When we saw him live in Puerto Rico, back in 1982 (his first of two visits to PR), we often Iooked at ourselves and then laughed uncontrollably. That's how amazing he was. I don't miss him, because he's still everywhere. Hi boss!
this was pure "cheese", as were all of The Boss' disco-era, studio-type charts. But it's still pure MF. His passing was like losing your favorite uncle...
This was from a great album (HOT)! Sylvester Stallone actually appears on the track and you can hear the now Boxing Hall of Famer hitting the heavy bag and contributing "dialogue."
I was in my high school jazz band 'Thompson High in Alabaster Al 1980-81" we played Rocky II Disco and Gabriel. Maynard Ferguson. is the greastest of alltime
What the hell was Maynard and this band on back then? This will never happen again. I don't think people understand what they're viewing,Wow!!! 8th wonder...

The only thing I knew about the late Maynard Ferguson was his hit song Gonna Fly Now. I went to see him in concert in 1988 and he was superb. He is sorely missed.
MF really sounded "on" ....... chops were on fire! This song brings back into college...great times..... i probably only listened to this 278 times.....:)
MF was ON this day. I'm thinking he probably watched this later and said "Wow, I am the man!"
