My son dragged me to see this over the weekend. What a bunch of crap movie. Terrible acting, terrible dialogue, terrible editing. Not even Cuba Gooding Jr could save this movie.

My biggest problem however was the "love story". Crap and complete fantasy. There is no way a white Italian woman in the 1940s would have dated a negro, and invite him in to meet his mother! Tutte cazzate!!

I liked the movie. But I think someone other than George Lucas should have done it. Some points in the movie I thought I was watching star wars with all of the camera angles and sound effects. Could have been so much better

George Lucas said in a "Daily Show" interview that the big Hollywood studios turned this movie down because there would be no foreign market for it. I don't know you, but I'll buy your ticket!. Well apparently the lufftwaffe werent as depleted as many think because they were still killing many american and british pilots. If anything the yanks were the ones depleted with pilots that were skilled. The luffwaffe had many skilled pilots but what hurt germany was they had no money to mass produce planes at the rate of the americans.

Further more most of the slang we have now came from the black 40s culture Cool, Bad (meaning good), Rap (talking), Daddy-O all came from that Jazz culture. Also the movie is great and not judge it by the trailer if it helps it doesn't have dubstep and one scene had one of them was singing the old blues song Ce Ce Rider on guitar.

@progfan71 I am African American and I can tell you that the language used in the movie was/is typical. Google "CODE SWITCHING" and "African Americans". Basically it means that our language becomes more relaxed when around other Blacks with whom we are familiar. For example, at work we say "is not" at home we say "ain't" .

Wikipedia has a good article on Code Switching. Essentially, it is a recognition that there is a proper time and place for everything.

@NilsKills Actually thats the POINT, the reason films with black cast don't make head way is because people see it as a "black" movie instead of an action one. The Action should be in the trailer the struggle should be in the movie. ;)
