  • are those to small tubes om the lower right side gettin gassy?

  • That, is, beautiful.

  • Are the output tubes' plates supposed to glow like that?

  • Yes, they are radiation cooled and the getter, which they use, is incorporated in the plates surface and needs high temperature to work. The tubes are not compareable to EL34, etc.

  • @bamaslamma1003 It is mercury tubes, that is perfectly normal it to do this. The light has ultraviolet in it, that is seen blue because ultraviolet activates blue photodiods in image sensor of the camera.

  • These tubes are filled with mercury, that is evaporated by a heater. The blue light is the recombinaton radiation of the ionized mercury-atoms.

  • Wow, serious tube amp. Reminds me of a modulator for an AM transmitter. Are the output tubes fan cooled or just convection? Also, are you using a three phase electrical feed? Nice, now if only you could find just one more . . . .

    Thanks for posting.

  • The tubes are radiation cooled, no fan - a lot of heat in front of the amplifier! The amplifier runs only at three phase feed, the mains transormer for the anode-voltage is three phase.

  • Just need Michael J Fox to plug in and blow himself away with a guitar chord now..... Nice work!

  • you rock buddy!
