  • I have a breeding pair or jags I just wanted to know why do u have the divders with holes big enough for the parents to swim though ?

  • @kingkay25 Pretty sure the holes are just big enough for the female to swim through, lay her eggs on 1 side and escape the males brutal wrath. Trust me, it's 100% needed in most situations. Other people I know who breed, they completely remove the female from the tank until they're ready to try breeding again.

Jags have attitudes, but NOTHING like a dovii. And dovii have huge teeth. I think the largest out of any cichlid.

  • @kingkay25 So I got a divider in my dovii tank just like this. Females don't grow fast, or that large. So you can easily keep the big bulky male to 1 side of the tank.

  • @mistaevanson

I can assure you that the fish is 100% disease free. He's alive and well and breeding like crazy. I've kept CA cichlids for over thirty years, familiar with the disease you mentioned. He doesn't have it.

  • exellent!

  • interesting. nice J

  • nice pair!!

  • what is the growth rate of a managuense cichlid???

  • Is the female the lighter one? I think I have a female Jag and a female Oscar. The Jag tries to lip lock the Oscar even though the Oscar is 4 times it's size. Seems like shes trying to mate or just being aggresive to another female. I can't figure it out.

    Great video,thanks for sharing!

  • fucking sweat!

  • you sure hes not eating them?

  • so nice

  • cool escape for the female!

  • very interesting

  • wow...thank you very much.

i thought only discus would do this.

  • Is there a LFS That anyone knows like in southern california that has fry like the one shown? If so, how much would they cost each?

  • The is National Geographic level footage. thanks for capturing this behavior on film and sharing it with fellow cichlid enthusiasts.

  • Great video, interesting reading aswell.

  • Excellent video. Thank you for that - definitelly 10/10.

    1. It seemed more like parents were eating some of their young - some of young seemed to disappear after closing parents' mouth.

    2. Ive heard of such behaviour among central American cichlids - similar to discus fish - but now I see it is true.

    Keep up the good job.

  • Cool vid Mo!

  • such an amazing behaviour! thanks Mo!

  • Thanks...I appreciate the nod.

    Mo
