And even back in 2008, suprisingly, even if Olbermann's younger viewer audience increased by 354% or whatever it was, they still couldn't even match Fox News. Oh, but O'Reilly still sucks, even though I can't match him when a portion of my audience triples. Man, he sucks so bad. Olbermann fails.
And also, did anybody notice that this video is 2 years old? FNC has now completely gone ahead of MSNBC again, and back then, republicans were going down anyways, and that meant the FNC ratings were going to go down too. The sad thing is, it is widely known that the majority of the younger audience is liberal anyways, and they are going to most likely watch MSNBC if they even watch the news at all. Even if their younger ratings increased by that much, they've fallen in 2010.
Of course, Olbermann won't show that entire soundbyte or tell his viewers to go listen to it simply because he wnats to pain this image that he is better than O'Reilly and that he kills O'Reilly in the ratings, which is a simple lie.
Olbermann won't even play the entire soundbyte, which is what I hate because no news host ever does. Granted it's for time, but they seriously need to show a link to the entire clip if they want to stay balanced. I just went and watched the entire O'Reilly clip from that segment. I don't just become a drone for the news networks, I look it up myself. All of those statements that O'Reilly made were true. FNC's 8 PM timeslot wins by 100% of the time, and 94% of the time in the 25/54 demo.

Its ironic he broadcast this because recently TV by the numbers wrote an article stating "Countdown Ratings Declines Continue; Better Off Without Olbermann?" I'd like to see Olbermann talk about this article on his own show that was posted on the cable news portion of their website. Not to mention, glennis3, that FNC plays in countless bars, restaurants, and other public venues purely for the sake of ambience since FNC is a free (cheap) basic cable station and MSNBC is a subscriber-only premium channel. Ratings is not at all indicative of the strength of the content of news. Higher ratings could mean many things but the idea that America consistently goes toward the more accurate is just blatantly ignorant. America heads towards entertainment, controversy, interesting, permiscuous, scandal. Certainly not facts or accuracy - if America was fact oriented, PBS would be the most popular channel in America instead of one of the least. He needs to compete with FOX to hold down the job? People can still have FOX and not MSNBC in this country. Not saying thats the reason but more people know about FOX as well. They have far more entertainment programing on a little earlier or a little later. I like how he fails to mention that in october 2008 fox was still kicking their ass olbermann averaged about 2.7 million viewers while O'Reilly was averaging about four million. Today, a year later, O'Reilly is still between 3.5 and 4 million viewers, while olbermann barely breaks a million on a good night. FNC has now completely gone ahead of MSNBC again, and back then, republicans were going down anyways, and that meant the FNC ratings were going to go down too. The sad thing is, it is widely known that the majority of the younger audience is liberal anyways, and they are going to most likely watch MSNBC if they even watch the news at all. Even if their younger ratings increased by that much, they've fallen in 2010.

Olbermann won't even play the entire soundbyte, which is what I hate because no news host ever does. Granted it's for time, but they seriously need to show a link to the entire clip if they want to stay balanced. I just went and watched the entire O'Reilly clip from that segment. I don't just become a drone for the news networks, I look it up myself. All of those statements that O'Reilly made were true. FNC's 8 PM timeslot wins by 100% of the time, and 94% of the time in the 25/54 demo.

Actually you're only half right. :) They are not "journalists" and as far as I know Olbermann has never claimed to be. I don't know about Bill O.... I don't watch them. They are "commentators." If people would make the distinction there would be less offense taken from both and more amusement. Not to mention, glennis3, that FNC plays in countless bars, restaurants, and other public venues purely for the sake of ambience since FNC is a free (cheap) basic cable station and MSNBC is a subscriber-only premium channel. No one goes to the pub to watch TV unless there's some sort of game going on. So the number of actual FNC viewers vs the number of TVs tuned in to FNC are even smaller!

If Jarrett's claims were so off base you certainly don't see the slightest evidence of anyone trying to prove it with cold hard facts like the liberal base is building against FOX? I want to see the show when Beck was fearmongering against the Iraq war or Bush. When did wallace ask those tough questions to Bush that no one else would? Where is the smear campaign against blackwater ? Where were the conspiracy theories about Iraq? When did they equate bush to hitler last again?

Just look around youtube - literally hundreds of videos circulating to show why FOX is not news but a republican idealogy and campaign microphone for GOP candidates and even those in office if they feel like throwing out a protest rallying cry. Where is the proof that FOX is not biased? Where are the loyal viewers refuting such false claims with hard evidence that FOX is accurate fair and balanced? Wheres the clips showing hard hitting interviews with repugs or smear campaigns on them? Huh??

Just to let you guys know, a lot of people are now watching FOX (the new veiwers) to record, write about, tape or expose their latest free-mongering or propaganda campaign. There are multiple sites dedicated almost exclusively to showing just how biased the entire new network is. More widely watched programs like Jon stewart and colbert have taken up the cause more passionately than before realizing just how low FOX has sunk in terms of "journalism" or "reporting."

Ratings is not at all indicative of the strength of the content of news. Higher ratings could mean many things but the idea that America consistently goes toward the more accurate is just blatantly ignorant. America heads towards entertainment, controversy, interesting, permiscuous, scandal. Certainly not facts or accuracy - if America was fact oriented, PBS would be the most popular channel in America instead of one of the least. He needs to compete with FOX to hold down the job? People can still have FOX and not MSNBC in this country. Not saying thats the reason but more people know about FOX as well. They have far more entertainment programing on a little earlier or a little later. Its hard to compete with FOX's audience size but laughably easy to compete with their claims of honesty and fair and balanced reporting. Anyone with a camera likely far surpasses FOX's particular brand of journalistic integrity.

I like how he fails to mention that in october 2008 fox was still kicking their ass olbermann averaged about 2.7 million viewers while O'Reilly was averaging about four million. Today, a year later, O'Reilly is still between 3.5 and 4 million viewers, while olbermann barely breaks a million on a good night. I almost feel bad for hm its gotta suck to know his ratings have dropped by almost 2/3
