Jody Davis is my favorite Newsboy. Almost a decade ago when the band was promoting the Love Liberty Disco Release I got them to sign a photograph from this! So humbling Jody is and I was depressed when he left the Newsboys and no guitarist could fill his void, his true calling has him back. I am glad his daughter is doing much better and that he is back with the group!

I saw Phil Joel in San Antonio, Texas at an Acquire the Fire conference. He is a very talented Praise and Worship leader. I totally respect his decision to leave Newsboys. He stated that he wanted to spend more time with his family. Praise God for that decision!! I know your family is blessed to be able to spend more time with you Phil!!

I got to see Phil and the NBs on 2 different days at Soulfest this year(Phil Thurs, NBs Fri) and I fully enjoyed both. Yeah, they looked WAAAY different without the famous long blond hair with them on stage, but they still put on a great show. Phil even sang 'Entertaining Angels'...it sounded great! Yeah, he'll be missed from the NBs, but I'm behind what he is doing now 110%!

Ah, I had such a crush on Phil Joel in the 90s! I went through many crushes in those years, but Phil was always at the top of my list.

That crush settled into something a little closer to a deep respect over the years (although he's still quite pleasant on the eyes and ears), but I still like to keep tabs on what he's been up to with his career. May his venture as a solo artist blossom. :)

It's been a year since he left...and I have awesome news. Paul will be taking over bass duties in the studio! He's the first Newsboy that they have NOT replaced, and I'm not surprised. Every newsboy in the past has been great, but Phil is special. He's irreplaceable...he's one of a kind!

A few did, but his true "phans" were behind him 100%, even if they wanted him to stay. I believe that if he could have enough time to be in the Newsboys, handle a solo career/dP and spend time with his family he would, but there's just not enough hours in the day. There will come a day when we will hear the beautiful harmonies of his and Peter's voices...as he said, "Heaven is not so far away, we will be home someday!"

I got to meet him last month(September) and he really is a cool person. Being on the road week after week month after month would have to be hard with little ones at home. Think about it. How many months has the "Go" tour been going on? At least 6 or 7 now with another month to go. His solo project is doing very well and I hope he has great success with it.
