  • I think, the dancers are really really good..also the songsters but this whole production is not the real dance of the vampires. At least i think so..The real dance of the vampires is the german version..i don´t like the broadway version..=((

  • the german/austria productions are the real Dance of the Vampire - musicals ,

the broadway version is so terrible ...

  • the worst crap i have ever seen in my whole life

  • oh my god, whats that? it sounds odd...

  • "Michael Crawford returns to Broadway to suck harder than ever before... Dance of the Vampires! The one musical that really bites, and sucks so hard it swallows!" Seriously while I kinda like the choreography of the finale a little better than the original and some of the costumes are a little more polished I may close with a sincere WTF?.

  • This is the terrible Broadway version isn´t it?

  • yes, it is...

  • The vampires look like pimps and hookers.

  • Oh, and I'm not going to even mention the fact that they used the phrase "The one new musical that really Bites".

if only they knew that this production would be the biggest flop to hit broadway, not to mention one of the worst reviewed shows in the last 10 years

  • I loved Tanz der Vampire, and thanks to that washed up hack Michael Crawford, the only chance I will ever get to see it live, is if I go to Germany, Japan, or Hungry.

I know they blew wayyy to much money on the show, but the dancing, music, and actors are the only bright side to this musical.

  • Great in Englsih WOW Super

  • Let's say it, like it is. This was crap, an example of raping a brilliant musical...

  • This video is just an example of how most Americans can never grasp "dark" theatrical shows. Thank you, Michael, for fucking this one up the ass for those who actually enjoyed it's German form.

  • Come on... give them a break! Yes, they changed a lot in the US-production, and it's ok that some of you don't like it, but actually the producers wanted to make a new show, so why not give it a chance instead of just being so damn negative?

  • Thank you. Yes, it's different. Yes, it's lighter, sillier, and not as angsty, but angt doesn't really work as well in the US. It's only REAL reason for failing was the Producers closing it too soon. The final show sold out.

  • It's light, silly, less angsty, empty, worthless pap. The REAL reason for failing was that a) it chose the wrong angle of the show and wrote a new version based on that, a version that one could only say was designed to fail, and b) it lost $15 million -- its entire budget -- without making back a single dime, much less a profit.

  • I'll agree, they spent far too much money on it, but there were other reasons.

    1. They previewed on Broadway. Always a bad idea

    2. It opened on a year that was reported as the worst Christmas season ever so no one had the money to see a broadway show

    3. It opened on a very cold winter season. Had it waited until spring time, it would've done better

    4. It's a rock opera about vampires. The "Broadway people" would not have accepted it no matter what they did

  • Was previewing on Broadway a bad thing for "Sweeney Todd"?

  • Okay, I stand corrected. It does work for some shows, but not for many of them. Especially when so many people involved in the show were new to the buisness

  • BTW, Jim IS one of the "Broadway people." In the 70's, he was one of the foremost theatre composers on such hits as "The Dream Engine," "More Than You Deserve," "Neverland," "The Confidence Man," and more. He wrote the entire score for a film called "A Small Circle of Friends." In 1997, he wrote the lyrics for the Andrew Lloyd Webber musical "Whistle Down the Wind." In 2002, he wrote half the score for "Garbo: The Musical." Any foray he made into rock would be accepted.

  • granted, but does that still mean the Broadway people like and accept what he does? They didn't like Phantom Of the Opera either because it was so different from what they were used to but couldn't stop it because it was Andrew Loydd Webber. Someone else they're actually not too fond of

  • rockfenris? lol

  • Michael killed this role. And I didn't like this production either.

  • I actually think the German version is much better.

  • Hmmm, the german original musical had a much better story. Even Steinman didn't like the US-adaption of his work...

  • That was mainly 'cause they shortened his music. He didn't care about what they did with the story.

  • Wrong. Steinman hated the show so much that he refused to attend his own opening night. Some choice quotes from an e-mail: "Our big mistake was turning a musical originally conceived as a serious Gothic rock opera into a Mel Brooks-style parody. We ended up with two shows at war with each other. One was sensual and Gothic, the other was camp 'Rocky Horror.' I knew the critics would kill us for that. We were the perfect target, a fat lady with a sign on her back that said, 'Kick me!'"

  • Lovely..! It's Michael Crawford..what more can I say?

  • you know, i'd know many many things out of the blue to say ... alone for that question

  • cool :D I like it..
