Javier deserved his oscar for "No Country" but he should've also won 10 yrs ago for "Before Night Falls".He was so convincing with that character & another gay character he played a few yrs later, that I thought he was really gay & didn't have 2 do much acting.I was shocked 2 find out he was straight. In 2007 he was also in "Love in the time of cholera" playing a character totally different from Chigurh and was totally beleivable.This guy is a great actor

Funny to read all those comments about his accent... considering english is not his mother language. We spaniards really appreciate when an english or american actor/actress makes the effort to speak in spanish... and yes, they also pronounce it quite badly but we don't make such a fuss of it. It's as difficult for us to distinguish " /ʃ/ " sound from "/ʒ/" sound , as for you between soft "r" and strong spanish "r".

I think now I can tell the difference between a "Spanish" Spanish accent and a Mexican/South American one. Kinda hard for me, as a non-native speaker, to do.
